Special Races and Abilities for NPCs
Hello again, everyone!
I am planning my NPC (non-player character) for when applications open in May, and I have a few questions. I want my NPC to be a seer, but do I have to apply for that as you would with a normal, player character? Thanks,
Calypso

Hi @Calypso Starling, iNPCs can have abilities, but no special races. So I am afraid your NPC can't be a seer.
Abilities- yes, you'd have to write an application text like for your main.
Another thing- where did you hear that applications open in May?

^ As Opeila said, iNPCs can only be full human.
You can draft your abilities now but can only submit them when the applications are opened up.
And there's no specific date on when applications open, at the moment. It could be earlier or later than May. There's no planned dates at present. If I was to guess, there will likely be an event around or over the summer but that is, very much, a guess and depends on staff's availabilities. I can't give you a specific date right now, unfortunately.
This is my former staff account.
I also play: Serena Towers (Graduated PC), Arjan Oberoi (Graduated iNPC), Xiomara Torres (Current Student)

Ok, thank you so much. I thought being a seer was an ability? And I saw in the application thread that you could apply in May... Maybe I didn't check the date and it was a previous year? Well, thanks again for your clarifications, @Opeila Winters and @Hjørdis Jensen. Stay safe,
Calypso

No, Seer, Parselmouth, Metamorphmagus, Part-Goblin, Part-Veela, Part-Giant, Lycanthrope and dhampir are special races/talents. Seer is a talent coming from a recessive gene. It gives you multiple different abilities through the years. One of course is prophecies, but there is also 10% Auto-hit/-dodge, inability to crit-fail and others.
It's far more than an ability.
(Opeila is a seer, I looked through it a lot)

I think I understand how you thought it would be in May; the first post on the thread for Ilvermony and Durmstrang iNPCs applications mentioned May as best as I can recall at the moment (or in another post within the same thread). It was last year.
If you're interested in applying for an iNPC, please check the staff's announcement from time to time in the Bulletin Board area. They usually will notify us all some days before the opening date.
And BTW there'll be many (if not all) canon wizarding school to be picked for your iNPC, so I suggest you don't rush because each player can have only one iNPC. Let's say you want to create a Castelobruxo (the South American wizarding school) student but the next application is for Ilvermony, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, and Mahuotokoro; if you rush to apply for one of these schools, the next time Castelobruxo opens you won't be able to apply.

Special Races and Abilities for NPCs
Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join? I also would like to ask a question about NPC's abilities.
Is it OK to apply for "Statistically Relevant" and "Perfectionist" abilities for NPC? To note, my PC doesn't have this ability.
If it's OK, how many times is it permitted?
Many thanks in advance.

@Ginevra Tsuchiya
As far as I am aware, statistically relevant has no limit, perfectionist can be taken twice. And those are normal abilities, so sure, your NPC can have them!
