The letter is written in messy handwriting, with multiple words crossed out, but still visible. Attached to it is a folded paper tourist map of Vatican City which is slightly worn down at the edges. A yellow sticky note is stuck to it which reads "Enjoy! - Thea" with a small smiley face. The edges of the letter are covered with several small unfinished doodles.Sent May 19th, 2020
Adressed to Cyrus Darsel in IlvermornyHey! Dear Cy Cyrus,
how have you been? I'd assume that 5 days can't be that exciting, but maybe Ilvermorny and Hogwarts are different in that matter. Whatever the case is, I hope this letter fin you've been doing well. Personally Hogwarts hasn't been too interesting (no common rooms blown up! yay!) which I'm beginning to think is safer than if anything was happening.
Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about what you said at Fortescue's the other day about countries. I went through some of the things in my trunk and I found an old tourist map from Vatican City. I know it's kind of an outlier, but I thought you might find it interesting, since as far as I'm aware, it's one of the smallest country in the world. I'm going to att sending it to you with this letter. If you find it interesting, I'm sure my family has many more of these tourist-y maps I could send. If Ilvermorny allows technology, you should definitely look up size comparisons to Vatican City; you might find it interesting.
Well, that's all I wanted have to say. I don't know when it will reach you, but I hope you have an eventful rest of your w find it interesting and have a good rest of your week. Reply soon! Or don't, that's fair.
Thea

The letter is written on a sticky note with tiny handwriting, nearly all in lowercase, crammed into all sides, front and back. The sticky note is yellow and has a sticker with a duck on it in the top right corner. It was folded into a badly-done oragami duck but has likely come undone throughout Cy's owl's flight.

my friend!! it is super nice to hear from you!!! it hasn't been long but i miss you already miss having a friend your taste in sweets. if i'm honest, things have been okay. boring, but okay. i sort of miss the whole being abroad thing, but it's nice to be... well, CLOSE to home. closer at least. i'm glad that hogwarts hasn't burned down yet. i kinda worried about that.
after looking at the map of vatican city, i was very, very confused. thea. that's a city. vatican CITY. i even had to ask around and i was informed that the pope lives there. i thought the pope lived in a house. that's so weird. does the pope rule vatican city?? i want to learn more now. can i GO to this vatican city? does the pope accept visitors?? please do help me with this i am so confused but very intrigued at the same time. that place is tiny.
i hope you're having a great... day? night? week? what even is the time difference? i suppose it doesn't matter what the time difference is, only that you're doing all right. i hope you have a great week(end?????)!

The second letter is much like the previous one - written in messy handwriting and covered with doodles abandoned too quickly to have a chance to turn into proper drawings. The ink, however, is different, being black instead of blue, and there is far more small ink splashes, especially on capital letters; despite that, there is noticeably less crossed out words. There is still an attachment - this time it's just a blank piece of parchment with a small smiley face in the lower right corner. No sticky note is attached.Sent May 22nd, 2020
Adressed to Cyrus Darsel in IlvermornyDear Cy,
I'm glad to hear that you've been doing well, even if things in Ilvermorny are getting too boring for your taste. As I mentioned previously, I am starting to think that when it comes to Hogwarts, the more boring, the better. If it's any consolation, I miss you having a friend someone to share sweets with as well.
I was slightly surprised and amused even if I shouldn't have been at your reaction. Hoping to answer some of your questions, I looked through the Hogwarts library, and was able to find one (1) map of the world. I did not find much information. But even though if calling it a city seems weird, it is still a country. Again, maybe you can find more information on your own, since Hogwarts does not seem to be keen on any kind of muggle technology - if you can even call maps technology, that is.
Even so, from what I can remember, I can say that it is entirely possible to go to Vatican City - it's a popular destination if I recall correctly (the queues were so long when I went with my family)! As for meeting the pope, I'm fairly sure he's too busy to meet every skeptical 13 year old trying to meet him, but he probably does audiences or something like that.
I sent an owl to my family - it came back yesterday. They do in fact have some maps and kids books on countries and geography they could send. If you'd be interested, I'd love to hear from you feel free to ask! Although I don't know how many books an owl can carry at a time. I hope you're doing alright too.
Reply soon!

This letter is quite unlike the first sent from Cy. It appears that he has found some old stationery - the envelope's edges are tinted yellow from age. His handwriting, while still the same nearly unintelligible lowercase (tiny) scrawl, is in pencil. Sealing the envelope shut is a doodle of a duck taped as if it's a wax seal.
The letter itself is on paper in worse condition than the envelope. It has water stains on it, perhaps from a glass, and some of the pencil writing is smudged, likely from Cyrus's own hand.
The letter was sent on 25 May 2020 and addressed to Hogwarts' very own Thea Knott.dear thea,
well, to begin with, i suppose i hope things stay boring for you. if boring is better at hogwarts, then so be it... although, if you miss someone to share sweets with, too, i could try to send something. i don't know if a lollipop would survive the trip across the ocean. maybe the owl would eat it. do owls even like sweets?
the hogwarts library seems to be quite lacking. i'll check around some more at ilvermorny, though i doubt it will be any better. neither school seems to have an affinity for muggles, but with our headmaster's love of all things weird (much like my own), who knows what i'll manage to find.
you've been to vatican city? that sounds amazing. i would love to go to such a legendary place one day wow! that sounds... pretty normal where i live, but compared to the areas surrounding ilvermorny, a long wait sounds so annoying. as for the pope... wow. i can't imagine such an influential figure giving an audience. amazing.
books would be so neat! i'm not too much of a reader, but i don't despise it, either. if you ever would like... some books on architecture, maybe, or sketches of buildings, i could send those? i'm not sure if you're interested in that...
well... i hope you've been doing okay! school can get pretty crazy even when you're not at risk of being eaten by magic animals. write back soon if you want to!![]()
sincerely
