Engineering with Snow PV AJ MacAllister Closed

This snow was nice snow. This snow was the soft, drift down and make a pretty vista kind of snow. It was the snow that you could lie down in and make a snow angel, or run around and throw it about and dance around like you hadn't a care in the world. It was better snow than the snow in Thurso where the MacAllisters resided. That snow was the kind of snow that whipped around at hyper speed in the wind and stung your face. The kind of snow that more often than not was slushy and muddy and would kill someone if you dared to throw a snowball at their face. And that was if you could even stand up against all the wind that was trying to blow you over.

Yes, this snow was much better.

And enjoying this much better snow was the young son of the MacAllister family. He had come with one goal and one intention, he was finally going to build a snowperson. He'd never been able to make one before due to the aforementioned terrible Thurso snow, but now seemed a perfect opportunity.

He only wished his friends hadn't been too busy to come and build with him. He supposed it made sense, they probably got to build snow things all the time, it was old and boring to them now, and he certainly wouldn't want people to be bored.

He would probably be considered underdressed for the cold weather here. Wearing only a jacket, some jeans and a scarf with some boots, and some warm black gloves as well. His thin layers would probably cause most other people to freeze, but living in the frigid and windy port of Scapa Flow made one feel the cold much less than the average person.

He was about to kneel down and start working on something, even though he had no real idea how to build a snowperson. He was sure he'd figure it out eventually. That's when he spotted someone else in the middle distance, a girl who seemed to have a similar goal here.

He slowly walked over to her, being careful not to kick and snow towards her. He cleared his throat. "Ehm, Hullo! Ah dunnae 'spose yer buildun ah snoopursen are yeh?" He asked her curiously. "Oer leek evun uf yer buldun somethen aelse d'ye meend uf ah join yeh? Ah thenk thus keenda theng us much butter wuth frends." He explained with a warm smile.

The mittens on her hands were getting wetter and wetter. She could feel the coldness seeping through the mitten's material, but that was not stopping her of what she wanted to do. Bloom wanted to build and do something worthwhile during her outing out of the castle. Too many times they had been on lockdown or something happens that Bloom wanted to just to be free. And what a great moment this was when the first snow had come down.

It was just then that perhaps her calls were answered to have a second person to build something more than just a snowperson. Bloom looked up at the boy who asked to join her. His accent was extremely thick. She wasn't able to fully understand word for word of what he was saying, but she got the gist of it all. He wanted to help build and Bloom smiled back at the boy who had given her a warm smile.

She nodded and pointed to an area of snow. "Start digging. The more snow we have, the better we can start building," she said, taking the lead on the building. Bloom began to grab a couple more snow-filled piles from her hands onto a larger pile next to her. When she was done, she crawled to the snow pile and began to pat it down. She wanted to see if the snow was ready to be molded or not.

"Since it's us two, we can build something big! Have you ever built an igloo before?" she asked, wondering the skills of the young boy. She wondered how young he was. Was he a first year? She couldn't tell. Nevertheless, she was glad to have a friend who had the same interest in her. For once, it wasn't a fellow Ravenclaw who wanted to study. It was someone who just wanted to have fun as well.

Bloom realized that she had not introduced herself to the fellow boy. "Oh um... I'm Bloom, by the way. I'm a fourth year from Ravenclaw." Mannerisms was what she often lacked. Her mother would always have to help her introduce herself when going to friends' dinner parties growing up. Her sisters could introduce themselves effortlessly. But when it's Bloom, she would rather play than share who she was.

When the boy introduced himself, she learned that he was a second year. She was right to think that he was young, but glad that he was not too young. She had least did not have to be a mentor as he already know Hogwarts and its ways. It was nice, though, to just have a conversation with someone without answering all of their questions, too. She remembered bumping into another person who was a first year and had to hold their hand in helping them figure out Hogwarts. While Bloom was glad to do that, it took away from her and what she needed to do.

"Nice to meet you, AJ!" she answered back. Luckily, there were some words that she understood. His name being one of them! "Yeah-- a snow house!"

AJ had asked if she knew how to start the igloo and she slowly nodded. Crap..., she thought to herself. Her older sister, Claire, would often be the one who told her and their other sister how to start. Bloom began to think what part of the igloo was easier to begin with. Was it the large round or the entry way? She closed her eyes to think of what her sister would have told her.

Bella, get started on making the bricks. Bloom, help me make the foundation.

"GOT IT!" she remembered. Bloom began to grab a handful of snow and clump it together to make it look like a rectangle brick. "Can you make the snow look like this? We need A LOT if its going to work," she said.

Bloom completed the first brick of the igloo and set it aside. She grabbed more snow from her newly made pile and made another rectangle. She made sure that the snow was packed tightly to ensure that it doesn't collapse when connected to the igloo.

"So you're a second year, huh? You must be getting used to Hogwarts and their never-ending drama," she half-joked. There was always drama at Hogwarts whether it was with other students or even something as serious that involves the professors to protect them. She heard the latest of the Masquerade Ball this year. The fact that there was a fire, a fight and on top of it all a creepy doll that began it all. Nothing was ever relaxed at school.
