Everly's Pleading Prime Pet Finished

"Pleaseeeee?"

Everly dragged out the sound, getting her and her mother some looks as others passed the pair as they were walking down the lane in Diagon Alley. Everly was in her pleading prime; she could tell that her mother was on the verge of being convinced.

"Come on, Mum! It's Christmas, and I really want a pet, and I saved up enough! See, it's all my own money! Pleaseeee?"

Everly bit her lip, finally deciding to bring out her master weapon. She gazed up at her mother with large, puppy dog eyes.

"Fine, Everly, this time, and this time only, you get a pet. Alright?" Charmaine Charlton stared at her daughter sternly, who nodded eagerly and bounced on her toes. Charmaine muttered under her breath. "Is this like a teenage girl thing? I'm positive I wasn't like this when I was her age..." Everly glared at her mother, her pouting face on, but turned and rushed eagerly into the Magical Menagerie before her mother could respond.

"Aww!" Everly cooed under her breath, staring at the faces of cats, owls, toads, lizards, and rats. Her mother followed her in begrudgingly, muttering under her breath, but Everly was positive that she would be quickly fazed by all the adorable and wonderous faces in here. She dashed around, wanting to see everything at once, and was reminded several times to 'slow down, young lady!', her mother following in her wake. Everly peered at the owls, then walked over to the lizards, tittered a few steps back from the spiders, and gazed at the snake, either from fear or awe, or both.

Finally, the girl realized she needed to make a decision on what she really wanted, to her mother's growing impatience. She lingered by the owls, then dashed over to the cats, watching them meow in their cages. She'd decided she wanted a cat, but she wasn't sure which breed.

Something golden, prowling in their cage out of the edge of her eye caught her interest. She leaned over to gaze at it; a leopard like spotted cat with amber eyes that was napping lightly, whiskers twitching, tail flickering. "This is what I want," she declared loudly.

"She's a bengal, dear," the shopkeeper lady had told her when Everly asked. "Just over twelve weeks old. She's beautiful." Everly grinned up at her hopefully.

"Ev, what are you going to name her?" Her mother's voice caused Everly to look up, confused, and she thought for a minute.

What I'm gonna name her? I spent like hours trying to figure out what I wanted.... what AM I gonna name her?

"Tzahala," Everly said, slowly, but certain. "I'm going to name her Tzahala."
