Search
Hello to all,

With nearly 200,000 messages on the site, and some huge topics, it is not always easy to find what you are looking for. I have tried to make several changes to help you as much as possible.

First of all, several pages now have their own internal search :
  • in the forums, a small "search here" field allows you to search within this forum only (this search does not include sub-forums, but you can select multiple forums and sub-forums from the search page);
  • in the topics, the same field allows you to search within that topic, which is useful for long topics ;
  • same thing in the my posts or my RP pages (or in those of others);
  • in the search results, this field allows you to perform a search among the results of a previous search; and thus to "filter" your results little by little.

In addition, you can now use multiple operators to search for more specific things:
  • it is now possible to search for an exact phrase with quotation marks around it;
  • you can use wildcards (*) to do partial searches;
  • you can put a + in front of the words that must absolutely be found, and a - in front of those that must not appear in the search post (for example, "+hello -world" will find a post with "hello" but not a post with "hello world");
  • finally, it is possible to use the logical operators "and" and "or" for your most advanced searches.

Several advanced search options have been added in the search page :
  • the possibility to search only in the title or the body of the messages, or only in the first message of each topic;
  • the ability to display the results as a list of topics or messages;
  • display a summary of the messages, or the totality (which allows to have the formatting of the message, and not the bbcode).

Finally:
  • the search terms are now highlighted in the results, but also in the topics once you have gone from the results ;
  • the number of results found is indicated at the top of the page.

I hope that all this will be useful to you on a daily basis :)
