private thread with @Cassandra IronwoodsFinally she was back at Hogwarts again. Lindsey was, actually, very grateful for it. Now Hogwarts was her home. Her new one. Her old one, Serendipity Garden was lost. Her damn great grandfather sold it on his accounts without even letting her parents knew. And her grandfather, her beloved grandfather as well. No matter who was the master behind, she was now living in Springhall Heights in York, although extremely luxury, but nowhere like home.
Nowhere like home. Yes. The whole manor was as cold as ice, and the Duke Springhall was always picky on her parents, brother and her own behaviors. Such as joining Quidditch.
According to the Duke, it was a huge mistake. How could a Springhall play Quidditch? A Springhall should do more intellectual works instead of flying around all time and whacking things. Especially when he heard that she played as a beater. The 94-year-old wizard was almost shocked. How come…a wellborn young lady, spending time flying around and trying to hit others? That did not make sense.
No. It made sense to her. Lindsey had put a great effort in making the house team. Her father was always good at Quidditch, though as a nice keeper. And he always regarded her as having a talent in Quidditch. So that’s it — now she’s on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a beater.
She had never actually played before. Yes, she had joined the match versus Ravenclaw, but at that time she was just a benched player. Now it was totally different. She had to face the excellent players of Hogwarts next match, which was definitely coming soon.
Making her way to the training pitch, she looked around. Lindsey had attended a few trainings with the badgers, and she loved it. Definitely love it. How could one not love their fabulous teammates? For the young girl, attending trainings was absolutely a great thing in life, besides reading and archery. Quidditch was her life, and she cannot leave it behind.
With the Nimbus 1700 her uncle gifted her on her birthday and in her yellow Quidditch robes, Lindsey took a deep breath, and took a place on the ground. She took her beater’s bat in hand, but didn’t immediately took off — instead, being extremely cautious and prudent, she looked around.
Her gaze was suddenly drawn. Was — was someone coming? To the training pitch as well?

Spending winter break and New Year away from home was interesting for the green eyes. The first week of Winter break, they spend it alone at the Ironwoods Manor. The next week they flew out to São Paulo, Brazil to visited their estranged uncle and cousins. When they got back to England, they got a lot of questions to asked to their mother.
But Cash could asked their mother some other time when their mother around. New year, new you as the old saying said but they did not feel like it. Since today is a beautiful and clear day, the purple haired decided to walked around the castle, they also bring their bat along too. They did not have any particular place in mind to be at until their feet bring them to the training pitch.
The Scottish Highland cold air blew. The cold air reminded them of their very first Quidditch Match though it is more wetter and hard to see than today. Cash played with their bat. Making circle motion with it as they walked into the pitch. They also whistle some Spanish lullaby that their mother used to sing to them when they were young.
As they approached the training pitch, they spotted a figure. The figure holding a broom and a beater bat too. Cash hoping they got all the pitch for themselves but fate said otherwise. Cash could be mean to the other person if the other person is a weak First Year. The green eyes then could see clearly who the other figure. They smile when they figure out who that is.
"Hey Holly,"The green eyes greeted the Les Amis d'ABC First-In-Command. "Happy New Year"Cash expressed. Then the purple haired looked down at the bat Lindsey hold. "I do not know you are a Beater too"Cash stated the obvious fact. Cash looked up to the sky. Seeing they have not got their own broom, for the past Quid Match they were using the school issue one.
Prior to this day, Cash already owl Professor Jemari asking for a permission whether they can borrowed one of the broom but the Slytherin Beater have not got the answered back from the Flying Professor. Cash hoping they can borrowed it so they could fly up and feel the air between their hair.
OOC NOTE - I already DM Professor Jemari via Discord to asked how the technically of borrowing one broom to use in this thread but I still waiting for him to answer me back for it.

Interacting with @Cassandra IronwoodsShe was just about to take off. Practice makes perfect. That was what her mother kept telling her from a young age. And surprisingly her mother’s words were right. If she wished to hold on and stay on her broom perfectly next match, she had to practice as hard as possible.
Chocolate brown gaze lighted when she saw who was coming. It was Cash. Someone that Lindsey had always liked and regarded as very cool and fun. A large, warm smile would show up on the badger’s face when they approached with a broom in their hand as well.
“Hey, Cash!” she’d wave with her empty hand. “Happy new year to you too! Fancy seeing you here…” Lindsey grinned, and said merrily. But then her eyes fell on Cash’ hand. What — what’s that?
A beater’s bat. As well as what she was holding on her behalf.
So…Cash, a beater? Slytherin beater? Lindsey had missed the game between Slytherin and Gryffindor, and all she knew about it was that the lions had won. Did Cash just became a beater recently? Or them…had lost the match? She had tons of questions. About Cash. About Quidditch. About everything. She had been missing her friends throughout the winter vacation, and she lacked what newly became of them — in other words, she hadn’t seen them for a long time. Especially Cash, whom she didn’t really have meet for the last term.
“I do not know you are a Beater too.” Cash stated. “Oh yeah…the fact is, I just became a first string recently.” she answered with a rather nervous smile. “Which means I was just benched during the first game of this year. You played though, didn’t you?” she made an eager gesture, and continued. “I wasn’t present at the game…I know that the lions had won…but I was told that you snakes played valiantly. Good job, anyways!”
Her eyes went wandering to the sky. How clear it was today…just fine for Quidditch, wasn’t it? Quidditch, plus a friend, made her day fantastic. Lindsey suddenly remembered something. Something that she often asked herself, but had never figured out an answer. Maybe Cash could help her about it. She knew that they were fabulous. Always.
“Ey, Cash?” chocolate brown gaze turned back to the snake. “Why do you become a beater? I mean — why do you choose this position?” after that, she quickly added. “If that’s sorta, um, a secret, you have the right to refuse answering it.”

After the green eyes greeted their friend, Lindsey waved and said back Happy New Year to the purple hair. "Like wise"Cash replied after Lindsey saying fancy seeing the Beater in the Quidditch Training Pitch. Then Lindsey eyes seems travelled down to the bat that Cash's hold. It always bring pride to themselves knowing others knew that they are the Beater for their house.
After the purple haired stated that they did not know that Lindsey also a Beater, Lindsey told that she just become a first-string player for her house. "Congratulation, by the way for making as a first-string"Cash smiled. "I know the feeling"Cash stated.
"When I first signed up for my house I waited for months then next thing I know, I become one of their first-string player"They told their good friend, you can hear the pride in their voice. Lindsey then asked if the green eyes played on the first match of the year.
"Yes, I played"They stated. Lindsey then mentioned that she was not presented at the game. She even uttered that she heard that Gryffindor won the match. "Thanks and congratulation to your house as well. Hufflepuff won against Ravenclaw, right? That winning strike was unbeatable"Cash expressed.
They heard from one of their dorm mates that Hufflepuff snuffed Ravenclaw out by a large margin of scores. The soft cold air of Scottish Highland blew and it brushes Cash' purple hair gently. Then the Beater heard Lindsey called out their name.
"Yes?"The green eyes responded. Lindsey then asked why Cash become a beater. She added if it a secret, Cash have the right to refuse answering for it. They smile at Lindsey. She is truly a Hufflepuff. "It is alright"Cash reassured Lindsey. "And no, it is not a secret at all"They added. Cash think for a moment. The question that Lindsey asked for them had them thinking.
Cash always know that they belong in the field. "Well, my mother was a Ravenclaw Captain and Chaser. My father was a Slytherin Beater when both of them attended this very school,"They said. "I guess it is a legacy that I want to keep, you know and it definitely in my blood"Cash added.
They looked down on the bat they hold in their left hand, "And this,"They shake the bat for Lindsey to see. "This was my father. He gave it to me before boarded the train when I was started to go here"Cash added. There was sadness washed over them. When they looked up, there was tears pooling in their green eyes.
Cash took a deep breath, they did not dare to blinked their eyes. Afraid the tears will run down on their cheek. "Anyhow.."Cash took a deep breath once more and about to continue when they saw a figure entering the pitch. Cash run a bit towards the figure. It seems Professor Jemari made a bit of his time to come down to the pitch.
Professor Jemari then handed one of the school broomstick that Cash asked prior this day. Broom in hand, they walked back toward Lindsey. "That was Professor Jemari. I asked if I could borrow one of the school broom"They explained. Cash then mounted the broom and up they go.
From the air, Cash can see Professor Jemari sit at one of the stand, supervising both of the second year. "Come up, Holly"They hollered. "It is a good day to train"They hit the shaft of the broom with their bat, making a thunk sound and wait for Lindsey up in the air.
OOC Note - Permission to slight godmod Professor @River Jemari entering the training pitch, lending Cash the broom and supervising the training was granted by him.

Interacting with @Cassandra IronwoodsShe was quite relieved when Cash told her that their choice of becoming beater was not a secret. That’s nice. She thought, and felt relieved for not causing another embarrassing moment. Somehow Lindsey was really interested in such things. Well, they may seemed unrelated, but actually they helped her a great deal. Especially when she found herself lost in her own life path. Listening to others was sometimes a good therapy.
Her eyes were lit up when Cash expressed that their mother was once a Ravenclaw Quidditch captain. “My father played on the Ravenclaw team as well! Though he’s a keeper. Maybe your mom and my dad had played alongside before!” the idea was intriguing indeed. A year ago when she first met Lizzie Callaghan, the idea of their brothers were good friends bonded the two young first year girls. And now, maybe Quidditch, especially the position of beater, could bond these two? “Though my mom was on the duelling team. She’s…not exactly the type of athletic, you know.” She explained. Carolyn Springhall was a nice magic user and spell caster, but certainly she was not sporty — at least not quite as her husband and children.
“I see it. Legacy is indeed something worth to keep and pass on.” she nodded. Lindsey didn’t know why, but somehow she wished to embrace Cash — especially when they showed her their bat. Were there tears in their pretty green eyes just now? Lindsey fancied that she caught a glimpse of some, but she wasn’t very sure. Family…suddenly she had the feeling of crying also. She missed her old home and family much. They were supportive, but now, she had lost them. Maybe even forever.
Though still her eyes followed Cash getting a broom from Professor Jemari. Lindsey had always respected the flying professor, as she had always liked flying lessons. Nodding a bit with a grin, she watched Cash lifted up to the blue sky.
“Oh yeah, I’m coming!” soon she mounted her own broom. Riding the nimbus 1700 Uncle Andre gifted her felt good…maybe she’d just stick to this broom for a few years. It contained memories. Nice family ones. And then she took off.
Catching up, she smirked at Cash. “Guess we could warm up first…what about flying around here for a couple of rounds?” she called out, not very sure Cash could catch the lines due to the strong wind passing through. “Let’s gooooooo!” and then she went forward.

Lindsey then told the green eyes that her father played as a Keeper for Ravenclaw when he was attended this very school. Lindsey even thought both of the beaters parents could played alongside years ago. "There was a possibility for that. I have to asked mother though. Mother was a Chaser when she was in her second year, what about yours?"Cash inquired Lindsey.
Then Lindsey informed the purple haired that her mother was a duelist and she was not the athletic type. Cash chuckled at the bit information. Cash remembered their father almost become a broom racing but the thought that he can whacked someone out of their brooms with bludger were more appealing than become a broom racer.
"My father told me that he almost became a broom racer but he loved whacked people off of their brooms with bludger more than anything so that's that"Cash then let out a small laugh then they shrugged their shoulders. "Indeed!"Cash agreed to what Lindsey said about legacy.
"She was not hell-bent that I followed her foot steps but it was so fitting since my parents were Quidditch players, I decided to became one myself. My mother told me to become my very best when I first attend in here. That was all she wanted from me"They stated. Cash hoping Lindsey did not noticed the tears that pooled in their eyes a few minutes ago.
If Lindsey did noticed about it, Cash hoping she did not addressed it and Lindsey definitely did not bring that topic up. Cash appreciate Lindsey for that. A moment later; the Serpent Beater was up in the blue sky, the Hufflepuff player was not far behind them. Cash caught a glimpse of words like 'warm up', 'flying' and 'rounds'.
The yellow and black Beater suggested that both of the warm up first if Cash was not mistaken heard what Lindsey said for both of them to do. With how the strong wind that passed through, it blew Cash beloved beanie that perched on their head to the ground. The green eyes then felt a swooshed of air beside them.
It almost knocked Cash out of their balance if they had not gripped the shaft of the school broom. They shrugged off their winter coat and dropped it to the ground. They hoping it landed near where their beanie at. A cheerful 'let's go' that uttered by Lindsey with glee, put a smile on the young socialite lips.
Cash then leaned forward to catch up with Lindsey as fast as the school broom could go.

Interacting with @Cassandra Ironwoods“I’m not very sure of it, but I guess, third or fourth year?” she grinned “My grandfather kinda wish him to focus a bit on his schoolwork rather than Quidditch. I would be sure to ask him when I write back next time!” her eyes sparkled with delight. This idea seemed to kindle her imagination. If their parents indeed had played together before, then why couldn’t the daughters do so? Even if the two weren’t in the same house.
She smirked. Cash was trying hard to catch up with her, since the school broom wasn’t really capable of going fast. However Cash was really a nice flyer and player. Lindsey admired their talent in it, and slowed down a bit — somehow the strong wind had affected her ability of flying today.Would Lindsey affected by the strong wind? [d2: 2] —> yes![]()

Lindsey tries to get back onto the broom (str DC 15): [d20+9: 17] —> success! She casted an admiring look back to Cash, and then…
She fell down her broom.
Strong wind attacked her, and pushed her off her broom. Clearly her flying experience wasn’t enough for her, as she knew an experienced Quidditch player could definitely stay on their broom no matter what happened. Even if they were bludgered, and wasn’t injured very badly. But now, she was knocked down.
“Ahhhhhh!” she screamed. This was terrible. Extremely terrible, maybe. This was probably the first time she had fell down, and it was definitely not feeling well. She couldn’t think, if she was knocked by a bludger…oh my. Her arms tried hard to grab the floating broom.
That was a close race. Thank Merlin, she had somehow managed to get back. Balancing herself on the broom again, she gave Cash a reassuring look. “I’m okay…that was close.” she said in relief. “Maybe I should get more practices…yeah…” her voice faded soon, in the strong wind. Casting another admiring look to Cash and grabbing her broom as tight as possible, she smirked in some embarrassment. Turning her broom to Cash, she flew towards them.
“Well…how do you evade all those bludgers successfully? I think…I think it might be quite difficult.” She said nervously. “You see…it’s so easy to fall high up here.”

"At some point during our parents studied in here, there were a possibility that they played together"Cash answered back after Lindsey told the Slytherin Beater that her father played for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team when he was in his third or fourth year. Lindsey then told the green eyes what her grandfather opinion regarding her father academic schoolwork.
The green eyes let out a small laugh. "I mean I think understand your grandfather point of view. Qudditch is more fun than studying, I give you that"Cash stated. If not because their mother constantly reminded them to focus a tad bit more into their academic, Cash would definitely done something similar of what Lindsey's father done.
After Cash done their warming up lap, they saw Lindsey up ahead. The Hufflepuff looked at them with something Cash could not see better because the distance between the two Beater. Then a strong wind blew up. Cash instinctually grabbed the broom shaft hard to keep their balance on the broom but the wind blew Lindsey.
The green eyes watched in horror when Lindsey let out a scream. They leaned forward to close the gap but the school broom was not fast enough for Cash to do that. They cursed internally. As the purple haired finally managed to get remotely close to Lindsey, they saw Lindsey's arms tried hard to grab the floating broom.
Eventually Lindsey managed to hauled herself up and get back on her broom. Cash let out a breath after the near fall. Lindsey then told the green eyes that she was okay and that was a close one. "Yeah"Cash let out a shaky smile. Cash knew the feeling of free falling from such great heights. It was definitely not a pleasant feeling.
"I think you should"Cash assured the fellow Beater. After that small incident, Lindsey then flew toward where Cash hover up in the air. Lindsey then asked Cash how they managed to evaded the bludgers successfully. The green eyes remembered during the first match they fell, almost hit the ground.
If was not because their team mate catch them just in time, Cash might slip into unconsciousness. "Well,"They paused for a bit. "Prepare for everything, I guess"Cash uttered. "During my first match of the year, a bludger hit me. I fell from my broom. Let me tell you, it hurt. Like a lot"They still can remembered the searing pain.
"If not because one of my team mate catch me, I definitely will slipped into unconsciousness"The purple haired said. "Also trust your team mate to catch you when you fall"They expressed. "I know what I am saying was cliché but it is true"They concluded. The both of the Beater up until now they just practice without the bludger.
Good thing there isn't any bludger involve in this practice. If there is, this practice could be more harmful. "Tell you what,"They told Lindsey. "Since there was no bludger involve in here, I will act like one"Cash claimed. Cash then turn their broom and put a bit distance from Lindsey.
"When I say duck, you ducked"They exclaimed half shout so Lindsey heard it through the wind. Cash then leaned forward as fast as the school broom allowed them to. When they almost reached Lindsey, "Duck, Holly!"They commanded. Cash hoping Lindsey will evade just in time. If not then both of them will collided to each other and will hit the ground, hard.

#6f5a93 | outfitBalancing herself on her broom, Lindsey slowly calmed herself down. The wind was storming, and it was strong enough to throw her off again, but this time it wasn’t going to succeed. She had steadied her mind in balancing up here, and, she knew that she wouldn’t fail. The young Miss Springhall was too far from getting herself disappointed. With a confident grin to Cash, she caught up with them yet again.
She listened attentively to Cash taking about their own experience. Bearing the pain and keeping it going? That sounded…well, maybe awful for some effeminate little kids. Although Lindsey wasn’t spoiled by her family, she hadn’t experienced the feeling of getting hit. She’s always well behaved, never gotten into a fight or something hurt. Yet still she knew it. Even if tears in eyes, if she’s not knocked down, she had to keep going. Next match would be her very first official one that she’d eventually get to play, and she had to get prepared.
“We’d see,” she smirked. “Hopefully it wouldn’t happen…to both of us.” To both of us. It seemed like a kind of promise. Clearly Lindsey knew that their next match would probably be versus Slytherin, which meant that probably the next time she met Cash again would be on the Quidditch pitch. She had to bludger them if her Cap ordered her to do so, and Cash had to do the same if their Captain told them to do it. Certainly it would be painful, at least Lindsey believed so. Maybe she shouldn’t be a beater after all…but still, she didn’t know. And she didn’t want to.
Cash started talking about their teammates. Trust your teammates. Silently Lindsey repeated after them, chocolate brown eyes gazed at her own broom. She had met everyone on the team already through the training sessions, but…well, Lindsey didn’t really know them well. The ones she was acquainted with quit the team some time ago, and she was still learning to adapt the new ones attached to the team. Maybe she’d get to know them in person one day…but really, Lindsey didn’t know. However she still trusted them. Why not trust your housemates, and your friendly schoolmates? Things were going on around Hogwarts fast. Horrible ones, to be specific. But her friends still stuck with her, and that’s enough. Maybe even too good for someone like her. Someone that wasn’t valued at all by her great grandfather and the whole pureblood community.
She sighed a little bit (hopefully Cash wouldn’t notice), and blinked. It was cold out and high up here, but at least her Hufflepuff sweater was warm. She nodded to Cash with a smile. “Thanks Cash, I’d be sure to follow.” giving them a warm smile, her hands, with the bat in them, reached for her broom and grabbed it tight. Oh Merlin, she didn’t want to fall off and repeat the scene that just happened again…
And she heard Cash calling her name. “Oi, to be sure —” she answered, when Cash stormed towards her. As quick as an afraid lamp alarmed by the sound of the gun, she quickly turned her broom right, and evaded. She had to praise Cash for their ultimate accuracy and speed. It was close…well, if she didn’t evaded like a bird. “Woaaa Cash! That’s amazinggggg!” she exclaimed, in the middle of excitement.
“My turn, maybe? Duck when I say duck!” smirking, she grabbed her broom tight. Cash was indeed a genius — this was a brilliant idea! “One, two, three — duck, Cash!” controlling her broom, she stormed towards the Slytherin.

Perhaps it was a dangerous and foolish suggestion to acted as a bludger. Though if Cash was managed to fly fast enough and knocked Lindsey of her broom, the impacted from both of the beater collided bodies will more or less the same as the bludger itself. The green eyes then zoom passed Lindsey.
When they thought both of them will get knocked from both of their broom and fall to the solid ground below, Lindsey managed to evade. She turned her broom to the right and evaded. The last minute of it that make the green eyes sighed in relief. If Lindsey did not turned her broom, their little friendly training session definitely will end up at the Hospital Wing.
Cash had promised to Professor Jemari nothing bad will be happened during their training session and they intended to keep it that way. Cash halted their broom once Lindsey managed to evade. They turned their broom and look at Lindsey. "That was bloody close"They said to Lindsey. "I thought we going to collided to one another"Cash let out a sigh of relieve.
"Thanks"Cash stated after Lindsey gave her compliment towards the green eyes. Then Lindsey asked for her own turn. "Sure. Let me just.."Cash trailed off as they fly a bit far to put some distance from where Lindsey at. Lindsey then count up to three and commanded the green eyes to ducked just like how the green eyes told Lindsey some moment ago.

As Lindsey fast approaching the Slytherin beater, the wind picked up quite hard. The wind blew and it almost made the purple haired fell of from the broom. Cash gripped their broom harder to keep their balance in check so they did not fell from the broom. The purple haired calculated the distance and how fast Lindsey on her broom.
Unlike Lindsey, Cash had some experience when it comes to Quidditch but not that many since they only played the game once so far. So when Lindsey closing the distance, Cash turned their broom to the left and evaded. From where they hover, they smiled at Lindsey. Cash waited a moment or so for Lindsey to stopped her broom.
When she does, "Good job, Holly!"They complimented. "And you are right; this is so thrilling. Such a rush!"Cash enthusiasm matched their friend. They never knew practicing Quidditch with friends (though they are representing from different houses) could be this fun. The serpent then flew up to Lindsey.
"What next?"They inquired. Cash could feel the air drop and get a little colder than before when they started this little practice. Their body shivered a bit because of the cold wind but thanks to the jacket and the glove that they wear, at least the cold air was not so bad.
