Missing them over Holiday
1900 | Tuesday | December 22nd
Santario sighed as she stared at the ceiling of her bedroom in France. She hated that she had been forced to go back home for the winter holiday because, as per usual, she would have preferred to stay at Hogwarts or make plans with her friends. She had told them that if they ever found themselves in France that they were always welcome even if they showed up with no notice.
She longed for her friends and the comfort of Hogwarts, but it was days away where she would have to sit formally with her family and pretend like it wasn’t too hard to breathe and like she wasn’t dying inside. Less, of course, she embarrasses her grandparents at their party. Even then, for New Year’s Eve, she was required to go to a Gala in England… England so close and yet still so far. Well, laying around moping wasn’t going to fix anything; if she missed them, she needed to actually reach out. Besides, it was almost Christmas, and she wanted to send them their gifts. She had already spent the better half of the day making Chocolate Almond Croissants from scratch that her house-elf Kodby enchanted to stay fresh for their journey.
Santario had also already purchased their gifts, but she wasn’t sure if they were going to like them besides the food. It was a gamble, especially since she had never given Thomas a gift before. However, she was sure Alan would love just about anything she could ever give him, like the older brother always proud of his younger sister.
Regardless of how they would feel about them, she would never know unless she actually sent them, but why was she so nervous this time? It was probably just the terrible feelings that were encroaching, so she tried her best to shake it off as she pushed herself off her bed and walked over to her desk where six boxes waited for her. Carefully she would place a package of eight croissants in each of the larger boxes before looking at the two smaller flat boxes that held the actual gifts. She opened one, and seeing the black and clear, she placed it into a box before grabbing a parchment and her blue and green quill. It wouldn’t take long for her to pen the letter to Thomas and place it in the box before then following suit with Alans. Santario would close the boxes and secure them tightly. She looked over at the two owls that Kodby had brought to her room only a few moments before she had decided to get out of bed.
“Alright guys, this is important. She placed a box in front of the great white owl. “This one goes to Alan Vanes and this one.” She placed a box in front of the Indian Eagle Owl. “Is going to Thomas Lestrange. Please fly carefully the both of you. I’ll have treats waiting when you get home.” With that, Santario walked over to the double doors that lead out onto her balcony and opened them. First, the Great White took off through the doors, followed shortly by the Indian Eagle. San braced against the cold as she watched them fly off for as long as she could see them, but when they were gone, she would finally shut the doors. Grabbing a book off her desk, she would find her way back into bed and open the page where her marker sat.

Dearest Thomas,
I hope you are having a wonderful holiday this season. I’ve sent along a gift for you and a box of homemade Chocolate Almond Croissants. I’ve had them enchanted to stay fresh for the trip, I do hope you like them, but if not let me know so I know to make something else for you next time.
I can’t wait to be back at school, to see you again, to see the snow-covered grounds.
Take care of yourself.
Bien à vous, Sincerely yours
Santario

My Gryffindor Brother~
I hope this package finds you and your family well. I’ve sent some homemade chocolate almond croissants because I remember how much you liked them when I gave you them for your birthday last year. I’ve had them enchanted to stay fresh for the trip. I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday and I can’t wait to see you again when I return to school. The other parcel is a gift just for you and as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of your love for a specific creature. I hope you like it.
Your Slytherin Sister,
Santario
