Home for the Holidays
Do not go home.
It was a message her father had sent along with a framed photo of himself with her and her twin sister and Alina Rosier assumed it meant for the upcoming holidays. She had some choices. She could go home despite the warning and risk ... well, some sort of possible imminent threat. She could go visit some friends as some had offered up their homes to her for the holidays but she might be interfering with traditions and family togetherness. She could stay at Hogwarts as she knew some of her friends were going to and see what the school had to offer its students for holiday traditions and the like.
But there was a third option that she hadn't planned on. Her twin sister Bella had written her about a conversation she had with the headmaster of her school. Apparently she was welcomed to come spend the holidays at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. At first the idea didn't appeal to her very much it grew on her throughout the day on which she had received the letter and her decision was made. She would go visit her sister at Beauxbatons and see if she could discover just why Bella Rosier felt this particular school was preferred over Hogwarts.
What she discovered was so much more than she ever thought possible. Beauxbatons stood there in all it's glory as this large cheateau, somewhat of a marriage between her childhood home and a fairytale castle, with beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding it within the mountains. Special just for Christmas were large glittering non-melting ice sculptures that mimicked the beauty throughout.
Alina predicted she'd meet a bunch of stuck up teenagers within the walls but instead she found adventurists, artists, nature enthusiasts, and dreamers. All of that combined with a French sort of setting that felt like home to the native French girl. There was even a lavish fountain on the school grounds that was named after Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel that was believed to have healing and beautifying properties and this future healer felt an even deeper connection to the school.
Yet, what drew her in the most was being back with her twin. Having been together since conception, the two girls were nearly inseparable and for many years one wouldn't see one without the other. To be separated at Hogwarts due to house differences and then separated once Bella left for Beauxbatons was harder on Alina than she realized.
Her father had told her not to go home and yet home was where her sister was.
