This is a spectator thread for Hogwarts on Ice
There were enough flyers posted around the school that most people probably knew an amateur hockey game was happening that day. Winter break was on the horizon, and watching kids fall over on the ice sounded like fun! That was to say, nothing was funnier than people falling down. Nurses were not immune to laughing at classic pratfalls. Hockey was a fun sport to watch to begin with, so with the slow traffic in the hospital wing recently, he though he may as well meet them at the pass. There were probably going to be a few bloody noses by the end of the day. Kids, blades, and sticks were a disastrous combination. Far be it from him to stop them from expressing themselves though.

As he strolled up to where the game was being played on the lake, Nurse Brumby stood by the sidelines with some heavy winter gear on and big sunglasses. At this point, he had only been on staff for less than a month, so most of the kids would likely not even recognize him. Still, he would be there to help when someone started crying. He didn't expect to be the only person interested in watching the carnage, these kinds of pop-up games had been popular in Hogwarts for decades, though hockey was a new one to him. He might stop a kid from running on to the ice if he had to, but he was mainly there to cheer.

"Go underdogs! Wooooo! You can do it!" He pounded a fist into the air triumphantly, hockey was all about screaming.

Kels had an industrial strength, glass insulated thermos that looked like it could easily carry a gallon. When he opened it to pour himself a drink into the detachable lid, steam and the smell of chocolate would invade the air. He brought a sleeve of plastic cups along too, just in case, as well as his trusty first aid kit on his side and his wand tucked behind his ear.
OOC: Feel free to join and watch the game as it unfolds. You can godmod Kels giving you a cup of hot chocolate, but for any interaction with him beyond that please ask.

Katrina had been through a lot. That much was clear. Between the way that she had seemed to miserably float between obligations to the way that she dodged any topics of rumors that might or might not concern her. What happened on Halloween night was downright traumatic. There was very well a chance that she might never recover. Look at you Kat, you're downright pathetic. Get your head out of your stupid memories and go do something.

In the past few weeks, her sarcastic internal voice had returned. As much as it was horrible and annoying, it was guilt-tripping her to go outside. It was mocking her just enough to go do something and force herself to feel better... in a sort of convoluted way, it was helping.

Her conscience had to bother her several more times before Katrina finally crammed a hat on her head, yanked up snowboots, grabbed a blanket and a book and tromped out into the Grounds. She wasn't intending on a run but was going to find a place to sit down and maybe read a book. She was just walking around looking for a spot to sit when her attention was caught by the Great Lake. It was frozen over.
(Flashback to this thread)
A loud 'whoop' escaped Katrina's lips as she fell onto the ice. In her frantic panic, she tried to stand up. Instead of righting herself, the movement instead caused her to slide into one of the thinner spots. The Gryffindor froze and looked around. A loud 'crack' resonated from below her. The lion attempted to scramble away from the spot, the movement only encouraged the growing crack. The spiderweb below her scared Katrina and she cried out for help. The cracks sounded more and more frequently and she sat there just waiting to fall for she felt unable to move. The fear froze the innocent girl.

With the loudest crack of all, the ice broke. She plunged into the freezing water. The ice broke away and blocked her from getting out. All of her memories of swimming escaped her frantic mind and Katrina couldn't remember how to swim. She let out all of her breath in stupid panic trying to call for help. She felt the top of the ice but couldn't get a hold.
If it hadn't been for Piérre that evening, she very well could have died. There had been a nagging fear for a while of the ice-covered lake. She knew better now than to go anywhere near it. At this point though, the fear wasn't nearly as bad as other fears she had. Other paranoia's that plagued her consciousness.

It took a moment for Katrina to remember why there were people on the lake. Then she remembered the fliers she had seen. Was it already the twelfth? Ice hockey on the Great Lake. There was no part of Katrina that wanted to join, but she knew her way around Ferula and Reparifors and there was a certainty that someone was going to need it if it went anything like other Hogwarts events. Besides, it wasn't like she had anything else to do.

Katrina was glad she had remembered a blanket and sat it down on a patch of less snowy ground. There was a man she didn't recognize with a thing of hot coco from the smell. Katrina didn't accept any just yet. Maybe later she would. Until then, she was going to try to convince herself to enjoy watching a few fellow peers.
