Weird case mentioned in the letter could be found in this thread

[font=Times New Romans] Hello! It’s Lindsey. Happy late Halloween, granddad! I know it might be weird that I actually write to you instead of writing to Enj or Ferre — but, I’m writing, so maybe you’d like to stop your work a little bit and listen a young girl’s confusions?
The thing is like this. You know during summer Ed and I visited our maternal grandparents for a week. Yes, Lord Linfield, Lady Linfield, Lady Dorothy and the young Lord Perseus. It seemed dumb to list the residents in the Linfield Manor here, but I just want to let you know. Our grandparents and cousin are great, and they treated us like we were in our own home. Though…
I was placed in my MIA uncle Nathaniel’s old room the first night. It hadn’t been cleaned for years, since the time he disappeared. And by chance I found an old diary. Uncle Nathan’s diary.
It was kept before he was gone. That’s about…ten years ago, I think? He wrote, he found his wife cold and inaccessible after she having a severe disease. Aunt Thea wasn’t like that long long ago. Mother told me about that before. She’s a Gryffindor, after all! And he wrote, one day, when he woke up, he found her doing her toilettes alone. And her appearance changed. Instead of the auburn hair and green eyes, she was a blonde now. But when he rubbed his eyes to look again, her appearance was back to normal. That’s just two entries in the diary, grandfather.
And I saw it. I saw her appearance changed using my own eyes. Edmund was there as well. I shared the diary with him, and he found the whole thing weird. We’ve been talking about it since that time — and neither of us can give a clear explanation to this. What’s more, we found, in the last few pages of the diary, Uncle Nathaniel wrote as follows:
“I believe, she’s after Carolyn. I couldn’t write the reason down here, for I’m afraid this diary might be found one day. I don’t know exactly how it would happen, but I fear. I must warn my sister and her family. Farewell, my diary. Nathaniel Linfield.”
Please help us — we hadn’t told anyone about it yet, including our parents. And now we thought you could help. You must can do it, right, grandfather? Please — I don’t really believe that Aunt Thea is a Metamorphmagus, but…pray, do help!

Definitely, never mind! I’m always glad to help my children — you’ve come to the right place!
Well, the case you represented was indeed intriguing. I still remember your aunt…she was a nice woman in my memory, neither cold nor distant. But it seemed that she had changed since I saw her years ago on your parents’ wedding, huh? Indeed, that might be the answer. You said she was ill. Maybe illness could change a way how people act. But wait. No. Her appearance changed as well…upon her own will. That’s weird.
For now I hadn’t got a clue yet me myself. I’ve thought it for a while, though the truth didn’t come out till now. I would keep your secret, and, please do not tell it to others if you trust me. This includes your parents. I would definitely be helping you. Just have fun and don’t keep it in mind all the time. I’d settle everything down for you eventually. Tell Edmund about it as well. Don’t panic. Believe in me.

Hey Eddie and Linnie!
There’s something important that I should tell you guys. Very important, probably. I got it from the Barricade Mansion last night, and Enj and I had decided that you’d better know it. You know we always write and ask dad about some recently happened things while we are away in school. Focus, I know you are going to sneak away, Eddie! And that’s where and when and why we got it —
Enjolras speaking. We learnt that you two and uncle Fitz and aunt Carol would set off soon to a new home. Grandad Herbert told father about it. He didn’t explain the reasons, but something important must had happened. You would be moving to York. Serendipity Garden would be sold out soon, and he said that he had already informed uncle Fitz about the change. There’s a place called the Springhall Heights in York. And —
Combeferre here again! Enj got my quill. I should continue everything. I think uncle Fitz and aunt Carol would soon summon you back. Have you written to granddad recently? I supposed that he had mentioned you writing a letter which alarmed him…but we know nothing, as well as dad. Mom and dad were ignorant of the reason too, and dad was especially disappointed when he knows that Serendipity Garden would be sold. We are also really upset…but anyways, we should always be optimistic. Hopefully you two could have a nice day…like we do. How’s Hogwarts? Beauxbatons is great. Maybe you should consider transforming here sometime? Haha, just joking! Also,
Ed, Lynn, I’m really sorry to say that the lunch break had ended, and Ferre and myself must go now. We hope that you two could take care of yourselves. Good luck as always, and remember to write as soon as possible.

Hello there little ones. Mom and dad speaking. We are writing to inform you that you two will soon be picked up and taken home with us tonight. Grandfather had sent us an owl, informing us some very important plots that he’s aware of. He didn’t explain the whole thing clearly, and we don’t know it either, but all in all we are going to move. Serendipity Garden was sold out, to a pair of old muggle couple that was seeking a house in London. We are going to move to York, where we have a home — the place where your grandfather grew up. Remember, we are purebloods, and we have a large family — and it lives in York.
Okay, we know you two might be surprised, because we were as well. Your grandfather had never spoken the large family to us or Uncle Andre before, since it might carry some of his painful early year memories. But now it changed. Your grandfather’s own father, your great grandfather, the Duke Springhall, is waiting for us now in Springhall Heights. He is of 94 years old, so please don’t annoy him when we arrived. He’s very powerful and stern, as what we’ve heard, but what we could only do was to do our best there.
We will pick you up soon. Do take your clothes and some must taken things with you. You could take Jadis and Napoleon with us if you like, we don’t mind. If nothing goes wrong, we’d come back on the thirteenth, and everything would be back to normal. See you soon.
