From Father to Daughter

Though Cash now is not that close with their father, back in the day the youngest Ironwoods and their 'daddy' were like two peas in a pod. Wherever Caiden (Cash's father name) went, you can bet the wide eyes green eyes person always there beside their father. Cash sighed when they remembered their good times that they shared with their once so cuddly, fuzzy and warm daddy.

"Mi amada hija, despierta (my beloved daughter wakes up). It is already morning, dear Phoenix"Their father tried to stated it, though his Spanish accent bit broken (since Spanish is not his native tongue) then thrown open the curtain and suddenly sunlight filled up Cash's room.
The then brunette hair groaned while covering their face with pillow. Cash cracked their eyes that heavily with sleep open slowly. Cash sat down on their bed and look at their father. "Do you know what time it is?"They said. There is a rasp in their voice that still heavy with sleep.
"Yes, I know"Their father sit down on their bed next to them, patting their thigh that cover by their sleeping short lovingly. "Get up, take a shower and get dress. I meet you downstairs"With that Cash's father left the former brunette bedroom.
Cash did not have to tell it twice. They do what their father requested. Upon descending the stairs, all of their house helpers lined up. "What is going on?"Cash inquired Ceeley, one of the Ironwoods house elves and the one Cash trusted the most.
Ceeley grabbed her young Mx's hand and guide them to where their father and mother situated. Once Cash arrived at the sitting room, all of them (including the helpers) shouted in unison. "Happpy birthday!"They stated. Some of them half shout it but the most prominent one was their mother's voice whose said 'Happy birthday' in those sing-a-song tune.
Cash let out a genuine laugh. "Thank you, guys"Cash said their gratitude. After cake been cut and share, their father set them aside gently. "I know it not much but here"Cash's dad presented them a journal. No gift wrapped to cover the book. Just simply the journal itself.
Cash looked down and took the journal from their father hands. "This is lovely, dad. Thank you"Cash then hugged their father. One thing the green eyes did not know, this will become a tradition for years to come.

The next year for the young former brunette something changing about their dad. Sure their father still around much back then but the way he carried himself was changed. Cash was not sure what make their dad changed from the cuddly, fuzzy and warm one into the cold and stoic self. Cash always wondered will they ever got back the relationship that once they had with their father.

One day Cash father told them to stayed in one of the many guest rooms the Ironwoods Manor have. Cash asked their father about it and their father only told them there was a nasty bug problem around the Ironwoods Manor. Cash want to rebuked what their father said because their father accept nothing but perfection for the cleanliness around the house.
For almost a month the green eyes stayed at the guest room. Every time they passed their father and questioned whether their room already free of bugs or not, their father brushed it off and asked Cash to make themselves busy doing anything their heart desired but they did not allowed to stepped into their room.
Cash was annoyed by this. That was their room and the then brunette hair can not comprehend why they did not allowed to stepped in their own bedroom. Then when Cash 8th birthday rolled in, their mother woke them and told them to go their bedroom. With sleepiness and bed-head, Cash walked into their bedroom.
"Dad, what-"Cash eyes grow big after they saw how their bedroom transfer into something they want. Cash discussed it a while back with their parents but they thought their parents ignored them like their parents usually did. When Cash saw the Beatles that was painted on the wall and they became a bit weary.
"Um dad-"Cash mumbled out. "What was that? What have I told you about mumbling, child"Their father stated with cold tone. The green eyes snapped from it. "Sorry, father"Cash said it. "Are you okay with that? I can sense that you dislike all kind related to muggles and muggles - born"Cash ventured themselves for uttered such things to their father.
"Not dislike, hate them"Lavi pronounced matter of factly. Cash nodded their head at that. Lavi then look at the wall. "This one I can let it slide but do not make a habit out of it"Their father ordered. "Yes, father"Cash dutifully expressed it. Lavi take a hard look at his only child and sighed.
"It is not only that"Lavi walked towards where Cash stood and put his hands on Cash's shoulder. The father then spun their daughter to the other side of the room. The other side of the room painted the same color like the one with the Beatles painting only the interior are different.
Cash eyes twinkled with delighted. Their father definitely have good eyes when it comes to room designing. "I can not take all the credits here,"Lavi told their daughter. "The room all was your mother idea so when she got home from work, send your gratitude to her too. I do not know who the Beatles is but your mother said you quite fond of them"Lavi added.
The then brunette hair spun around. Taking all in their new decorated bedroom. "From the way you did not uttered a word, I take it you like your birthday present?"Lavi enquired their daughter. "Yes! very much so, father. Also when Mother got home, I also will thank her for this lovely gift"Cash stated. "Alright,"Lavi walked toward Cash bedroom door.
He pushed down the handle and spun around. "Happy birthday, Phoenix and enjoyed the rest of your birthday"With that their father exited the room. Once Cash's father exited the room, Cash make a dashed toward their new bed. They bounced a little on the bed with smile on their face. Best birthday gift ever.

From Father to Daughter

As the years progress, Cash's father become more cold and stoic. Not only that, Cash know how busy being an Auror is. They walked to one of the dresser and picked up a simple wooden frame from the dresser. Inside the frame, there is a picture of Cash and their once cuddly and warm father. In the picture was a four or five years old Cassandra Ironwoods, seated on their father shoulders.
The green tilted their head back, they laugh without care. Their father held both of the then brunette hair hands up in the air and looked up to them. There was also a smile etched on their father face. Cash smile sadly at the once loving father of theirs and put down again the frame on the dresser.
They shuffled to the other side of the room, picked up their guitar, seat on the sofa and hummed softly while playing their guitar.

The loud and sudden knocked on their bedroom door jolted the green eyes awake. Cash stretched theirselves up. A minute or so, they fully awake. They sit up from their bed and open the curtain that blocking the sunlight.
Cash let out a yawn. They walked into their in suite bathroom and took a shower. Once they done with their shower, they wear their casual outfit. A short tan khaki, a black tee and wear their slippers. They walked down toward the kitchen. "Morning, Miss Ironwoods"Greet one of the cook. "Hey"Cash greeted back.
They had a healthy breakfast then they go on about their day. Evening rolled in, they sit in front of the piano that located in their sitting room. Cash played a song or two until a swooshed was heard from the fireplace that located in the kitchen. Their father walked in still with his work clothes. Lavi patted Cash's head as the blue eyes passed their only daughter.
"Phoenix"Called their father. Cash stopped playing and walked toward their father voice. Cash found their father in his study room that located in their family library. "Si papí (yes, father)?"They answered back. "Today is your birthday, right?"Their father asked back. "Yes"Cash stated. Lavi then nodded his head.
"Come, follow me"Cash's father told them. Cash dutifully followed where their father headed. Both of the father - daughter climbed up the stairs. Both of them headed to where the indoor basketball room located but they passed the wooden door. Cash had puzzlement in their face. A short trek later both of them stopped in front of the similar door.
Wooden door with gold handle. Cash looked at their father with curiosity. "Open it"Lavi ordered his daughter. Cash pushed down the double gold handles of the door. Their eyes grow big at what they saw. "You once said you want to learn how to rock climbed, correct?"Their father looked down at the then brunette hair.
Cash nodded their head vigorously. "There you have it"Lavi smiled at his daughter. Lavi stepped further into the room, the green eyes followed suit. Cash marvel at the new addition room. "This is for me?"They inquired their father. "Yes"Lavi responded. Cash ran around the room. They let out a scream of glee. They then tackled hug their father.
Lavi let out a small chuckle at his daughter antics. "Happy birthday, Phoenix"He said as he patted Cash's head lovingly. Cash run up to the big black mattress and looked up to the colorful stone. They had a big smile on their face. "You like it?"Lavi asked. "I love it very much, father. Thank you"Cash expressed their gratitude.
Lavi nodded his head. "Oh! before I forgot, I already arranged your first training session the day after tomorrow. Practice well"Their father said as he walked out from the room. Cash laid down on the mattress. They can not believe this room are theirs. They smile wider than before.

As the year progress and the young Ironwoods got older, their father are getting less and less being seen around the Ironwoods Manor. Cash knew how demanding being an Auror is. And every time they passed their father around the Manor, Cash always tried to engaged their father into some sort of conversation but their father always told them he had work to do.
The dining table become colder. Back then the dining table always occupied by the Ironwoods. Their mother, their father and Cash themselves. Chatter and laughter filled up the room. Now the dining room sometimes occupied with their mother and Cash.
Their father rarely sat with their mother and Cash. As their mother also become an important figured down at St. Mungo', the dining room now become an empty cold void that once so warm. A house it is not really a home if there's no chatter, hugs, laughter, joy, and warm greeting to share with love ones within its residents and its wall.

The green eyes woke up by a soft melody played from the other corner of their room. With bleary eyes and they let out a small yawn, Cash opened their eyes that still lace with sleep. "Morning, star"Their dad greeted them. Cash let out another yawn. "Morning, dad"They replied as Cash rubbed their green eyes.
After a minute or so, they woke up and sat on their bed. It is a rare occurrence that their father was in their room. Cash looked at their father and their guitar alternately. The then brunette haired had that guitar from the first time they can played the instrument. "I do not know you can play"They said to their father with raspy voice.
Their throat were dry. Cash then got up and poured a glass of water that seated on top of their dresser. "I played but not as good as you"Their father praised. Cash involuntary rise one of their eyebrow. To get a praise from their father was a rare thing. "Do not be so shocked"Their father chuckled.
"I heard and saw you played without your knowledge and you are an excellent guitar player"Their father told his only daughter. "No -"Cash paused for a moment. "What I mean to say is thank you"Cash uttered. Their father let out another chuckle. "Anyhow, I remembered today is your birthday,"Cash's father stopped playing the guitar and walked up to the green eyes.
There was glimmer of mirth in his eyes. Cash smiled softly at their father, now they sit cross-legged at their bed and looked up to their father. "Wait! Don't move and close your eyes"Their father instructed. Cash obeyed what their father asked from them. Cash heard their bedroom door opened then closed.
Cash waited for a beat of minute until they can feel their bed dipped. Cash's father place something hard on their lap. "Now open your eyes"Their father expressed. Slowly Cash open their eyes and looked down on their lap. On their lap, their dad brandished them with another guitar. A little worn out but still playable.
Cash shifted their gaze from the blue guitar on their lap to their father's blue eyes. "I know I know what you thinking. Why would I give you another guitar when you already had one"Their father said as he looked at Cash's puzzled face. "You see my dear Phoenix, this old thing was once your mother's"Cash's father explained.
With this brand new information both of their eyebrow rise. It seems today their father decided to surprise them with trivial things that they do not know about both of their parents.
"Your mother quite like you. Athletic and a musician but ever since she is more focused on the medical front, she was not playing this instrument any more. So I want you to have it. It would be a waste to throw away such pretty thing"He told the then brunette hair.
"Anyway, I need to get to work"Their father got up and pat Cash's head softly. "Happy birthday, my love"He concluded and kissed the top of Cash's head. He walked up to the door but turned around to face his daughter. "I am so proud of you, Phoenix. Remember that"With that Cash's father got out from the room and close the door.
Cash looked down on their 'brand new' guitar on their lap. The green eyes hug the guitar with unshed tears in their eyes.

Today was the day Cash been waiting for. Ever since they received the letter from Hogwarts, saying they will attend there the green eyes was ecstatic. At first their father forbid them to attend Hogwarts but their mother reminded their father their glory days when both of them attend the majestic castle.
With a little argument and debate, reluctantly their father agree with their mother. And so when the day arrived for all the first year to go to Hogwarts, their mother accompanied Cash to buy all the things Cash needed. After the mother - daughter duo passed the wall between platform 9 and 10 at King's Cross station, the black and crimson train just arrived in time. The steamed that came out from the train make the train look bigger that what the young socialite imagine. Cash looked up to their mother with unsure gaze in their green eyes.
"What if I can not do this, mom?"Cash was shaking after looked at the train and their mother alternately. Cash was stubborn but they never been far away from their family and home before. Their mother let out a soft smile and hold both of their arms gently. "You will do great, mi hija (my daughter)"Olívia told her only daughter while rubbing their arms in comforting manner.
"What if-"Cash choked on their own tears. Their mother then squad down so her brown eyes level with Cash's emerald ones. "Hey, tell me what is going on there?"Their mother tapped Cash temple softly. An assuring smile still etched on the older woman face. "I-I-"Cash stammered out.
The then brunette hair took a deep breath to calm their inner angst. "I never been so far away from home before"Cash breathed out. Their mother then hugged Cash. After their mother hugged Cash, their mother put both of her hands on Cash's shoulder.
"You will do great. Trust me. You will meet new friends. Make a lifetime friends there and experience new things when you attend there. You know I am speaking from experience, right?"Their mother told Cash with mirth in her eyes. Cash nodded their head.
"Then you have nothing to be afraid or worry about"Olívia stated. Cash one more time took a deep breath and nodded their head. Cash looked at the train and their mother again. This time the dreaded feeling slowly dissipated. Their mother always could calm them with her words.
Olívia then looked at the clock and smile sadly at their only daughter. "I need to get to work. Take care, mi amor (my love)"Their mother stood up and hug Cash again. The then brunette haired feel their mother planted her kissed on top of their head. With that Cash mother walk away and gone.
"You can do this"Cash said to themselves. Just as they about to abroad the train, Cash heard their name being called out from the distance. Cash whipped to the source of the voice. A minute or so later, their father stood before them. Lavi bend over a bit as he took a breather.
"Daddy, what are you doing here? I though you already at your office?"Cash was puzzled. Sure their relationship was weird but Cash was surprised their father even here. After Lavi could talk again, he stood up. "I need to see you before you go, Phoenix"Lavi expressed to Cash.
Cash was touched after their father said that. It's been a long time since Cash's father paid any attention to them. "I know I been hard to you this couple of years,""Lavi started. "And you have been so understanding about my job"He continued. Cash nodded patiently as their father gathered his thought.
Their father is someone that uncommonly known for showing his emotion. "With that being said, I wanted to give you this"Lavi exclaimed. He then lifted up a brown wooden medium size trunk to his only daughter. "What is this, dad?"Cash enquire their father. "Just opened it"Their father told Cash.
Cash was looking at the trunk and their father back and forth. After some time, Cash then took the trunk from their fathers' hand and opened it. The young Ironwoods let out a small gasps and looked at their father with unshed tears in their eyes. "At this point you know what it is, right?"Their father inquired Cash. Cash nodded their head vigorously.
"This is you Beater bat"Cash said between their choked up emotion. "I want you to have it"Their dad uttered. Cash shook their head. Their father pressed gently the brown trunk to Cash. "You said you wanted to become a Beater just like me. This is your first step"Cash's father expressed.
The green eyes looked at their father now with tears running down their face. "Thank you"Cash rasped out. The then brunette haired hug their father with one arm while their other hand hold the handle of the trunk. Their father rubbed Cash's back lovingly. Then the sound of the whistle train broke the father - daughter moment.
"It is looks like you need to go"Their dad said to Cash with unshed tears in his eyes. Cash never seen their father sad before and it heartbreaking. "Yes, I do"Cash replied back. The second whistle rang through the air. "Go or you going to missed your train"Lavi pushed Cash away gently.
Cash nodded their head. Reluctantly Cash stepped away from their father and walk up to one of the train compartment door. "Cash,"Their father called out. Cash almost missed their step. Their father never called them that before. "Yes, dad?"Cash turned around as they wipe the tears on their cheek.
"Remember I am so proud of you and you will be one hell exceptional Beater. Any house will be lucky to have you"Their father stated. Cash nodded their head. With that Cash stepped into the compartment and looked for an empty cart. When the final whistle blow from the train, the train soon moving forward.
Cash looked at their father retreating figure getting smaller and smaller as the train departed from the platform and began its journey.
