New wand  Finished
Serilda walked cautiously into the darkened shop. OLLIVANDERS, the sign had read outside, Maker of Fine Wands since 1483. The sign alone astounded her. Everything was so new and different. She was muggle-born and had discovered a few months ago that she was really a witch. A thin, pale man with eyes as round and yellow as moons stepped out from behind a stack of boxes.
"Ah, Miss Greengrass... I thought you would come here soon... Stretch your arms so I can take your measurements... Yes, that's it. Hmmm. Why don't we try this one?
"Oak and dragon heartstring... 28,7 cm, nice and swishy, hmm? Good wand for charms. Fond of easygoing and flexible wizards."
Serilda looked at it dubiously. One thing she knew was that she was definitely not easygoing. She picked it up and had barely moved it when it was violently snatched from her hand.
"No, no, no. Let's try this one then."
Serilda watched him as he rummaged through a pile of boxes and emerged with another wand.
"Willow and Veela hair, 35,1, nice and swishy. Fond of hardworking, energetic wizards. Easily switches alliances if the owner becomes lazy."
Serilda had barely picked it up when it was snatched out of her hands again.
"Certainly not!"
She tried several more wands. the pile of used wands on the stool beside Ollivander grew and grew.
"Here's another one... 30,2 cm, laurel wood, and phoenix feather. Pliable, ideal for duels, this wand is fond of fast, quick-witted, and flexible wizards."
This is the wand for me, Serilda thought.
She picked it up, and warmth, magic, happiness, rushed through her fingers to her arms and all over her body, all the way to her feet. A soft, white glow emanated from the tip of the laurel wand and quickly became blinding. She shielded her eyes, and then it faded.
"Yes, yes, congratulations, this is the wand for you! Here," he said, thrusting the wand into Serilda's hands, "That'll be two galleons."
Serilda dug into the bag she'd brought from home and came up with three galleons, a few Sickles, and some Knuts. She handed two galleons to Ollivander and stuffed the rest of the money, and the phoenix wand, back into her bag.
"Thank you!" Entirely, completely satisfied with her purchase, Serilda walked out the door to the shop. With every step, her excitement grew.
