Better be Gold
Michael browsed the shelves of the library, lips pursed. He started classes in a week wanted to make sure that all the books he need were read once before the start of the classes.
Last was Potions, he decided right off the bat, it being the last thing he read about at home. So he started with History of Magic. He just needed the book. . . . History of Magic. He smiled at the tiny detail, before sitting down and getting started.
Two hours later and Michael had finished the book and had it color coded so he knew where everything was. Now was Charms, and Miranda Goshawks Book of Spells. He hummed as he got up, having to get a stool to get the book (and the second edition that had pass students little notes in it).
He yawned after he finished this class, it was only 7, he had 3 hours til curfew. He decided to split his class in days, so whats next?
Muggle students seemed fun, so he walked over, frowning at all the books that's seem to be 'how to's and not really information.
He sighed, and went to his next class, err potions. He sighed again and dragged himself to the other bookshelves, frowning when he realised he had no idea what book to grab for it.

The old castle — Hogwarts — has been a labyrinth. Some parts of it permanently changed magically. It could create funny accidents, but also could send you above and around, when all you actually wanted was to get to the closest lavatory.Interacting with @Michael Miller
Verner's thoughts
Verner speaking
Verner not wanting to make a bad impression on his professors and also for other reasons started to explore all the corridors and locations of classrooms thoroughly.
It would always be useful if you knew about places you could hide yourself or a shortcut to your class, or how to avoid attention especially from some annoying ghosts like *Peeves*.
Today, while wandering around and also looking for a book for his next classes of potions and charms, Verner ended up at the Library. Still true to his instincts, Verner's movement was quiet and careful, almost like he was sneaking. He did it out of habit but also because he loved to go around unnoticed, and it was no different when he entered the library.
Library has been quite empty, probably because school year has been only just started. Almost empty, except for couple of *studious?* guys, at least that was Verner's first impressison.
A blond haired boy approximately 4 feet tall in clothes with green accents, probably close to his age was reading through a book, and seemed to make notes, … *"maybe he is researching something?"* Verner thought. Out of curiosity, Verner has decided to observe him. He seemed to be an avid reader, and his books were on the verge of overuse.
And then the boy stood up and went to a bookshelf, across from Verner. Their eyes have met for a moment. *"Let's wait and see how it develops, it is already time to find friends"* Verner thought

As Michael looked at the books on potions and found one that he thought would be great for starters. Only problem was it was on the fourth shelve high and he could only reach til the third shelve. Well dang.
He looked back at his stool, or where it used to be, a smaller first-year Hufflepuff girl was using it down the row. He sighed, and looked around coming across a boy who could possibly reach it. He didn't know how to approach him. So Michael stalled alittle. He looked across the potions book, thinking more about how he could get the boy to help then actually looking at the books.
Finally he sighed, the best way to get the boy to help is to just ask. He bite his lip and walked over to the boy looking down. "Umm, can you umm, there's a book i want and its too high, do you think you can help me?" He asked then looked up. He hoped the guy would help, and wouldn't be mad he was uninterrupting what he was doing. Wait what was the guy doing? Now that he thought about it the biy was looking at him before he came over.

As the short blond haired boy facing him started to talk, it was soon obvious he must have been feeling a bit insecure, uncertain maybe even embarrassed.Interacting with @Michael Miller
Verner's thoughts

The boy might have had a clear thought of what he wanted, and in some lucky way asked Verner for help.
So as the boy said *"…can you help me?…"* Verner remembered his father telling him to be helpful to others.
*"Oh hello,"* Verner replied and made a conscious effort to sound neutral. He looked, following the other boy's gesture and asked *"sure, what book?"*
It was a book on potions, one of the subjects Verner would soon start to attend.
Verner tried to grab the book, but he as well was a bit short, his fingertips just barely touched the back of the book. He would have been able to pry it out of the shelf if he stepped on the first row and used it as a stool. Looking at the other boy, Verner's gaze flew past and around to make sure nobody else is watching. He gestured *"psst!"* and quickly stepped onto the first shell/row in the bookshelf and used it as a makeshift ladder. He hastily grabbed the book and in the same brisk manner took it out, stepped down, back to the ground, handing the book over to the other boy.
*"Potions?"* Verner asked, *"I'll soon have a class on potions,"* he continued *"the classroom is supposed to be in the basement. Would you know its location?"*

The boy looked down, and Michael felt even shorter. "Oh hello," the boy said sounding rather neutral. He looked, following the other Michael's gesture to the book shelve and asked "What book" Michael pointed at it. Just now realising that the boy wasn't that tall either.
The boy tried to grab the book first without anything, but he was too short, his fingertips just barely touched the back of the book. Michael thought he would have to ask someone else, but the other boy surprised him. Looking at Michael he seem to think of something, then the other boy's looked around to make sure nobody else is watching. He gestured and made a weird noise then quickly stepped onto the first shelve in the bookshelf and used it as a ladder. He quickly grabbed the book and yanked it out.
As he stepped back on the floor, handing the book over to the Michael, Michael's mouth was open, not knowing if he wanted to yell about how childish that was or thank him.
He didn't get to decide as the boy quickly asked, "Potions? I'll soon have a class on potions. " he thought then continued, " classroom is supposed to be in the basement. Would you know it's location?" Micheal nodded, "It's past the Slytherin dorms, its hidden being in a small hallway," he said ending almost abruptly, how did he get so friendly with this boy? He just met him.

The other boy seemed genuinely thankful, although so surprised at Verner's *quick and dirty* situation handling, that his mouth stayed open for a while. If it were for nothing else, this funny reaction made the whole interaction priceless.
Verner, might have been a bit amused, but did not let it show on his face.
*"Thanks! That is what I also thought."* Verner said when the other boy confirmed his theory.
Feeling nice about performing a good deed, Verner thought he might be on a good path to getting new friends if he continued just like this.
He stepped couple of steps away and started looking around the library again, returning to his original planned effort of mapping the castle out. The Library was quite big and as he noticed, it even had a restricted section. He wondered what they might keep inside. His instincts told him he should stay away from that section at least for a while.
Quickly and quietly moving away tip-toed, Verner passed around another bookshelf. The smell of books had always been strangely relaxing, and the titles found around all seemed to be promising. It certainly was not the last time he visited this place.
Looking around for a good spot from which he could both read privately and still have a good angle at who enters library and at the same time a quick path to escape, Verner slowly explored all the open desks and cubicles, leaving the other boy standing where he handed him the book.
It was time to head out for the potions classroom.
