"Ow!" Emmett exclaimed, as someone squeezed him again. He had just arrived to Madam Malkin's shop, the one where every student got their robes upon their acceptance letter. He was a restless, fidgety kid who didn't like being touched. Because of that, Emmett made the whole process of getting his stuff together a lot slower.  But the young boy still didn't feel like he deserved all the huffs from squeezing ladies. He was here alone, without his parents, out shopping in the Diagon Alley. It was a dangerous thing to do, but he was used to it. Having no rules, having no one to look after him. He was an independent kid, but at times like these he really wished that someone had come with him. Perhaps he should have asked for his uncle to join him.

He suddenly let out a giggle when someone kept touching from places that would make him laugh uncontrollably. These people knew exactly which buttons to press to get the reactions out of this kid. Emmett let his mind wonder, just to distract himself from the process. "Think about happy things and places. Like, the Pinky beach that you visited in Australia!" he was calming himself down, aloud of course. What point would there otherwise be?

It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.

"My school robes are next, mum." Asteria said looking over to her mother as they walked down the street. They had just gotten her wand and Asteria had decided to look and see what's next on the list.  "Alright then," her mother responded. "Madam Malkin's isn't too far from here, let's go there next." Asteria gave slight huff. They reason they decided to get her supplies today was because her mum had wanted to go shopping in Diagon alley anyway in order to pick up some supplies for home. Asteria was hungry, they had been out all day and she at least wanted a snack. "Mum, dad, can we go to the ice cream parlor, please? It's not too far from here." She asked.
"Sorry, Asteria I guess we got a bit caught up." her mother said. "okay love, just give us one- Merlin's beard!" The sound of her fathers awed voice came to Asteria from the other side as they came to a stop a few steps shy of their destination. "Sweetheart look!" he said "It's one of my old friends! why, I have seen him in ages!" Asteria watched as her father walked over to the the mysterious man and they hugged. "Darling why don't you go over to Madam Malkin's." Her mother said.
"Don't worry, we'll be right here talking, we'll come to you after we've finished." With a nod, Asteria walked toward the clothing shop and opened the door. Stepping inside, Asteria heard the sound of giggling, looking for the source of the sound, Asteria looked around the somewhat small shop. Looking ahead of her,Asteria saw an annoyed Madam Malkin with a young boy. The boy she was fitting a robe on seemed to be the source of the giggle. He was a tan boy, who seemed to be around her height, weight and age.He had straight, dark brown hair and equally dark brown eyes. He seemed to have a few freckles from what Asteria could see, and an awkward smile plastered on his face. Bored and slightly hungry, Asteria decided to take a seat near the window, and look toward where her parents stood while she waited.

The laughing turned obnoxiously loud, making some people turn towards. There were a few raises of eyebrows with some amusement in their faces. However, the only not smiling was the one doing all the work. Madam Malkin, of course. She wasn't that known for being a cheery persona either, at least in Emmett's personal experience and all the rumors. Everyone coming to Hogwarts would their robes from Madam Malkin. Well, unless you wanted to be a special snowflake and shop at Twilfitt and Tattings! Emmett was no exception in this matter, and he chose the more traditional option. He was also here to get his first robes. Three black standard ones, that is. Being busy giggling, he just made it even harder for not for Madam Malkin only, but himself too. He was the victim here, not her!

Hearing the door open, his attention was turned towards it naturally. The boy was a curious person, what would you expect from him? The figure that had entered the shop was someone he hadn't seen before. Tall stance, pale skin, pretty red locks and green eyes. Just what you would expect when you first heard the word 'witch'. As a cherry on top, she even had freckles across her face. Emmet thought that he probably looked like a maniac, laughing while being constantly poked and squeezed. What could he really do in this situation? After a hiss from the lady trying to get his robes done, he inhaled loudly and held his breath not to laugh. The Madam was quickly done taking his measurements after that, and he was free to wait for the robes. The boy got something resembling a 'reassuring pat' or 'annoyed push' towards the chairs, and he heard something about waiting.

Trying his best to keep his eyes straight and not fall, he picked the girl as something to pinpoint with his gaze. He felt a bit dizzy after all that laughing for a nice, consecutive few minutes. Plopping to the chair next to her, he slowly moved in his chair to a more comfortable position. A slouch, to be exact.
Turning his head towards her, he inspected the girl from her head to the toes. Couldn't hurt to make some conversation, rather than just sit there awkwardly. Clearing his throat, Emmett hoped that she would notice him. "Hello there." he announced.

Asteria continued to look out of the window at her parents, how much long were they going to play catch up. It felt like they had been out there for hours, ages even, she'd never understand adults. Asteria couldn't help but wonder if she'd be like that when she grew up, stopping every chance she got to look at something 'nifty'  in a shop, or stopping just to talk to someone you randomly see and just happened to know. The man didn't even look familiar, unlike some of her father's other friends, who would stop by and visit from time to time. Asteria only barely turned her head slightly as the laughter grew louder, it was a bit annoying but rather than randomly cause a scene, she held her tongue and tried to ignore it. She felt for Madam Malkin though, and hoped she wouldn't cause such distractions to her.
Asteria could feel eyes on her from behind, was it the boy, or Madam Malkin? It gave her an awkward feeling. Asteria hated feeling awkward, it would always put her in a shy place, which led to her feeling embarrassed, sometime for no reason at all. Still Asteria continued to look away and bury herself deep in thought. No one was saying anything, it seemed like the boy had stopped giggling thankfully, so why make the feeling in the room worse than it was. She let her thoughts wander to Hogwarts, she wondered what house she'd be in.Her father told her all about the sorting hat. How it could read your thoughts and speak,  as well as how it can choose what house to put you in .  'Hufflepuff seems okay,' Asteria thought 'dad says they're quite funny and are really loyal. Ravenclaw seems more my style though.' Her thoughts went on. 'I bet the hat will put me in either Slytherin or Gryffindor though. Since mum and dad were in those houses.'
Asteria's thoughts on the matter went on and on, her mum, grandfather and great grandfather had all been in Gryffindor. Her father had been in Slytherin, and other members in his family had been in either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. Her thoughts then went back to her parents, she wondered what it was like for them in school. They stated dating around their fourth or fifth year at Hogwarts, she may not have been in school yet, but she did over hear her family friends talking about the history between Gryffindor and Slytherin, and it wasn't a very nice one. "Hello there." A voice said form beside her after clearing their throat, giving a slight jump as she was pulled from her thoughts, Asteria looked to her left. It was the boy she saw giggling a little while ago he was slouching in his seat , "Oh, h-hello," She said with a gentle and slightly shy voice.
Getting up, Asteria adjusted her sitting arrangement to face him, she smoothed her white knee-length skirt so it would  lay properly as she sat down. Her posture was erect and her legs were together to the point that her knees touched, her legs we positioned so her feet are off to one side, and one ankle was crossed over the other. Her grandmother (on her fathers side) had made a big deal about her learning how to sit like a lady, proper and elegant, she hated it, but didn't want to make her grandmother sad. "I'm Asteria," She continued on, resting her hands in her lap. "and, you?" She asked.

The girl looked like she was completely in her own small world. Before he had sat next to her, she looked incredibly awkward and like she was daydreaming. Emmett was curious to hear what she had been daydreaming about. Taking the fact in mind that they were both sitting in Madam Malkin's shop, he took a wild guess. Perhaps Hogwarts? It was not that far away, the time where they would probably meet again in that castle. Well, if they got sorted into the same house and if she wanted to be friends with him. The boy wasn't necessarily compatible with everyone who ran around. He liked to play the renegade and it wasn't always the first thing you looked for in a friend. These 'rebels' meant trouble, and if you couldn't deal with that? That was unfortunate.

She answered him with a voice that indicated that she was a shy person. Emmett was usually someone fan of other people with strong personas. But the shy ones couldn't be that bad after you got to know to them. What else did he expect? Some random boy just sat next to you after giggling for minutes. Hair completely messed up, an awkward smile on your face and he was out of breath. How else could she react? He definitely didn't blame her. However her posture and manners of moving only signaled one thing to him. An uptight, too proper person. He decided to not make assumptions and mimicked her with straightening his back.

"I'm Emmett. Pleasure to meet you." he said in an enthusiastic voice and smiled even wider. Emmett had never really learnt how to smile without looking like you were about to bite them violently, leaving a nice mark as a hello. "Could you, perhaps, be going to Hogwarts too?" he asked leaning a bit closer, as if it was a secret. Emmett was sure that he already knew the answer, but lacked any conversation skills to ask anything else just yet.

Asteria certainly didn't think she'd find herself in a conversation while waiting her turn. She thought it'd just be a quick and quite wait, so being caught off guard and brought into a chat was the last thing on her mind."I'm Emmett. Pleasure to meet you." he said as he straightened up, his hair was messy, and he sounded a bit winded from his previous giggling fit, yet he had an enthusiastic tone in his voice all the same. The boy name Emmett gave her a wide, funny looking smiled, leaning a bit closer toward her he asked,  "Could you, perhaps, be going to Hogwarts too?" Asteria raised an eyebrow curiously and smiled back. She has only know him a few seconds, but she found him interesting to say the least.

So far, he reminded her a bit of some the boys she knew in her muggle school. Although whether or not that was a good thing is yet to be known.Especially seeing as those boys weren't necessarily her friend, they were the one who could give someone a headache on their best days and make them outright upset on their worst.Maybe this time could be different however, not everyone is exactly the same, although a small part of Asteria had her doubts, she hoped those doubt could be proven wrong. "Yes," Asteria answered, her voice keeping it's gentle tone but the shyness was ever-so-slightly replaced with amusement at the sight of his awkward smile and the how he asked the question. "based on the robes Madam Malkin was fitting, I'm guessing you are too?" She asked uncertain. Asteria hoped he was going to Hogwarts, it would be nice to talk to someone who was in the same position as her.
Still a bit nervous, Asteria wondered if she should continue, she might not have looked like it, but her mind was going a mile a minute, trying to think of what to say. She has to work on her shyness, otherwise her time at Hogwarts might be a miserable one. Asteria wished she had her parents conversational skills, they could go on for ages if they wanted. Her social skills were good, unless she found herself in a random circumstance, or in talks with someone she's never talked too before. That's when she becomes a shy, sometimes flustered mess, a mess she's vowed to fix during her time at Hogwarts. While they were talking, Madam Malkin had decided to go in the back of her shop for a minute, possibly needing a break before going back to fitting robes.

Emmett again revealed his restless ways by tapping his leg. He had a smile that radiated sunshine. His laughter was something that could warm up a cold room in seconds, change the mood in a matter of small moments. Even though he had a very harsh personality usually, he had a more gentle side. When shy people would meet him, he would try and tone down the wildness a small bit. Not changing who he was completely, but he didn't want to make others uncomfortable and shoo them off either. The boy would wait that they would be comfortable with him, then let his inner wild beast show.

When she smiled back, his brain already signaled him that he had succeeded. Smiles were awesome on the faces of others. It brought him joy when others at least seemed happy. Once the redhead admitted that she was going to Hogwarts, he pretended to be surprised. Letting a small, almost nonexistent gasp, he leaned a bit back. Emmett laughed again after that, and his shoulders went a bit up. "Kneeeew it." he noted that Madam Malkin left them alone. Great, no more pinching from old ladies. Perfect, what else could he wish for?

"Well..what do you think? Do I look like someone who could go to Hogwarts?" he raised a brow slowly making it a bit comical. However he was interested in her opinion. What would he do if she said no? Try and change himself? Realizing that the question was stupid, he just nodded. "I am going there, fortunately! I'm going to be a first-year, and I'm pretty excited. I've only been to muggle school before, and that was boring to say at least." he already revealed that he was quite familiar with the muggle world. Emmett wasn't ashamed to have muggle-born parents, nor was he ashamed of having very little wizard blood. That only prompted him to prove that he was worthy and fueled him to go forward.

"I guess you're stuck with me for the next seven years then." Emmett already cuffed her to him, as he thought of her as a friend now. He was not hesitant to drop her off if he thought that she was uninteresting, but for now he created an illusion that he was going to follow her around.

"Kneeeew it." The boy named Emmett said with a laugh,"Well..what do you think? Do I look like someone who could go to Hogwarts?" he asked Asteria, his brow slowly raising. They haven't been talking long, but she was starting to feel slightly more comfortable talking with him. "Well," Asteria began with a smirk. "Anyone can look like they could go to Hogwarts." she replied to the odd question. "But it's personality and potential that plays the part. You'd be surprised where a personality can lead you."  Asteria went on. "But you give off the vibe of a strong personality, so you might be fine." she said.

"I am going there, fortunately!" he said. "I'm going to be a first-year, and I'm pretty excited. I've only been to muggle school before, and that was boring to say at least." Asteria's eyes lit up curiously. "You've been to muggle school too?" she asked in wonder. "So have I." Asteria replied. "Although I come from a large family of witches and wizards, so I didn't have to. But my mum and dad thought it's be a good idea to blend in with the muggles in the area." she said.'He's interesting' Asteria thought as she spoke to him. To Asteria, there seemed to be more to him than meets the eye,she had already formed some opinion of him. But opinions are always subject to change, and she wished to get to know him more rather than judging him.

"I guess you're stuck with me for the next seven years then." Asteria heard him say. "Stuck with you?" her eyes shined with amusement. "Quick to make friends are we?" Asteria said "We might not end up in the same school house." Asteria went on. "Besides, friendships don't come so easy." Asteria stood up as Madam Malkin returned with another robe and beckoned her over. While making a new friend would be fun, Asteria was also prepared for such a thing to not happen either. Taking a quick glance out the window, Asteria spotted her parents walking toward the shop. It seems their friend had left already. "Well, it's my turn to be fitted. I hope we meet again." she said offering him another smile.

Emmett was a person who would be comfortable with anyone speaking to him, really. He did not shy away from communication, being quite extroverted. However the moment someone tried to get any bit closer to him, he would shove them away. It was a major fault in his character that he was not really working on, not knowing what else to do.

She smirked, and received some curious eyes in response. He attentively listened to her reply, not being very surprised. What else was there really to say? You couldn't often see from a person if they fit into some box. "Maybe I might be fine." he was still a bit out of breath from the giggles, but continued to drop off some chuckles here and there. There was a stereotype that people who laughed a lot were either the saddest, or just plain foolish. He didn't really identify with either, and just preferred to be happy over being negative all the time. That was exhausting!

When she told him that she went through muggle school too, he frowned a bit and gave an understanding nod. Those kinds of places were evil, no matter what school you went to. They were all the same. "Not sure if I already told you since I'm bad at remembering what I just said, but both of my parents are muggle-born witches. So obviously I was forced to learn the same things as they were, because they considered them important. Math this, literature that. Ew." he opened his mouth and made a gesture with his fingers saying that he was about to shove two fingers down his throat. Emmett disliked muggle school for plenty of reasons, and had high hopes for Hogwarts because of that. Or maybe because his idealization of Hogwarts he hated muggle school. He wasn't entirely sure.

"Well, it'll be hard to avoid me there regardless of which house we both end up in. Just saying!" was all he answered. She let him know that it was her turn, and Emmett assumed that Madam Malkin was soon back with his own robes. Waving and smiling, he didn't say anything to her.

It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.

"Not sure if I already told you since I'm bad at remembering what I just said," She heard Emmett's voice begin to say "but both of my parents are muggle-born witches," he went on. "So obviously I was forced to learn the same things as they were, because they considered them important. Math this, literature that. Ew." Asteria giggled. "Well, it is important," She said as Madam Malkin began to measure her. "You do have to know the basic things even here in the wizarding world after all. Even if there are differences." Asteria continued. "I didn't think it was so bad, although some of the students were gits though." she said admittedly.  Some students were nice, and others were not, but it's to be expected, she guess she may run into a few during her time at Hogwarts.
"Hogwarts will obviously be different, but I believe there will also be some similarities. School is school after all."
"Well," Emmett said. "it'll be hard to avoid me there regardless of which house we both end up in. Just saying!"
"I'll hold you to that." Asteria said as Madam Malkin begin to poke and prod her, making adjustments to Asteria robes. As she did, Asteria began to hold still, she didn't want Madam Malkin to mess up her school robes. "I would ask what house you think you'll be in," Asteria began, "But I doubt you'll know them?" Asteria went on. One of the many questions itching in the back of her mind and she could help but mention it. With there being four houses, there's a good chance she could end up in any. Although she was sure she'd probably be Slytherin or Gryffindor that doesn't mean she will be. Most of her family went to either Slytherin or Gryffindor but what if she was the odd one out and ended up in Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff.
