SEPTEMBER 14TH, around half past six
private thread with @Lily Reeser
Lindsey regretted seeing her brother Edmund this morning.

She briefly met the elder Springhall boy when having breakfast, and he asked her to play a game — the winner could get a chocolate frog. Really, a frog card wasn’t really a thing — but the dare was. Edmund asked her to go to the trophy room at half past six, and blindfold a “lucky” student who was there by chance. The blindfolding spell wasn’t difficult at all for the girl, and she accepted — though Lindsey highly doubted if she could do it.

So she was there. Not past curfew, thank Merlin. Lindsey would never want to get caught after curfew. Never. Glancing nervously around, Lindsey hoped that no one was there. No one, yeah, so that Edmund would not say anything and she could go back. She wept her curly golden brown hair back, and kept looking around, hoping to find something…or, to find nothing, you could say.

Wait, she wasn’t alone. Something was over there. Although it was getting dark already, the light in the trophy room hadn’t been lit yet. Hopefully that person, or that creature wasn’t a dangerous one…

“Anyone out there?” fearing it might be some highly dangerous creatures, she called out. If that’s a hag, or a mosp…decidedly she raised up her wand. “I’m not a prefect, and it’s not past curfew or this is an forbidden area.” she explained. what if that’s a student? Who cams here to cry…or did something like that?

“Don’t be afraid. I would be off guard now.” believing that she might be too aggressive, Lindsey quickly added. Upon her words she lowered her wand.

With a little sigh, Lindsey waited. It was all Edmund’s fault…if it wasn’t him, she wouldn’t be here, and she would definitely not come across these weird things. Definitely, she promised.

How did she end up here in the first place? She shouldn't wander next time. It was half past six and she was wandering around an ancient building having no clue what's to happen. It was actually, for some strange reason, exciting? It was different, it was nice not knowing what would happen, for once! Hopefully, Rowena Ravenclaw wasn't looking down on her as if she was making the Ravenclaw house look bad. That was all, she just didn't want something so grand, so spectacular to be ruined by some sort of 11 year old girl called Lily Reeser.
Back to the present. She wandered into a room with a bunch of trophies in it. Her eyes immediately caught on one, it had a yellow banner-like sheet underneath it. Not thinking, she walked over to it to her surprise it read, Hana Kim where someone's name should've been. That was her mother's name. She must've done something well when she was at school! Good to the hardworking Hufflepuff's!
"Anyone out there?" Lily jumped slightly, before tensing up, “I’m not a prefect, and it’s not past curfew or this is an forbidden area.” Okay, well that was a relief. But who was saying---, “Don’t be afraid. I would be off guard now.” okay. That's better. It sounded like a girl, thank god not a professor. Lily might as well say something like, no uhh----, she won't say anything.[/font]

Lindsey sighed as nobody had answered. Was the person there afraid? Or was it extremely dangerous? She believed that she had explained herself very clearly. Not a Professor or a Prefect, not giving out a detention, not past curfew…but the one there seemed hadn’t gotten her point.

“Listen — whatever and whoever you are in the shadows — I am a Hufflepuff second year student, and basically could do no harm to you. However, if you decided to continue lurking, I would attack, since I couldn’t determine if you are a friend or an enemy.” she declared again. Still no sound or move. Time to check what’s there.

“Lumos.” a flash of light beamed out her wand. Slowly she proceeded. Hopefully the one in the shadows was not dangerous…if it was, she might fight. She made her way into the numerous trophies. The Hufflepuff sighed a bit seeing the house cups of other houses (namely, Ravenclaw and Slytherin). Hopefully they badgers could win next time…for the hardworking family deserved it.

And now she was there. She could feel her own heartbeat. Damn Edmund. If she died here today, that’s all his fault. If she managed to get out of here alive, then Ed still deserved a jinx or a hex. Maybe a knockback jinx? Seemed alright.

It was to her surprise to see the creature. Lindsey had prepared to yell a disarming charm or a blindfolding charm, but as soon as she see the one — a young girl of her age, or even younger — she changed her mind and stopped. Lowering her still shining wand (Lumos spell), she muttered. “Why…you seem quite harmless.”

Lily wasn't sure why she didn't say anything. She wasn't scared at all, right? She was the daughter of a Gryffindor, a very brave Gryffindor... Even if she was scared she shouldn't be, the older Hufflepuff girl had explained she was indeed not a prefect and the timing was not past curfew and it was not a forbidden area, wait, but what if she was lying? What if she was just saying that to earn her trust? Even if Lily were to get hexed to unconsciousness she wouldn't care. It would be interesting to know how it felt. She guessed her cousin was right, she was "sick".

The second year rambled on and Lily couldn't listen since she was getting nervous. "Lumos." the light spell. She could tell from the long beam of light shooting out of a wand. Great, the Hufflepuff was going to check who's there. Time to get burned. It took awhile while the other girl walked around the room, apparently she had given a light sigh, but that was not important. Lily couldn't stop asking herself how this girl had ended up here, maybe the Hufflepuff would how she ended up here once she found her. Lily leaned more against the back wall corner until the back of her head touched the wall. Her hands felt the rough rock and it was as cold as stone. Not a great feeling at the moment.

“Why…you seem quite harmless.” Lily stood up and wiped her hands together as the light pieces of dirt fell off them. She wasn't sure to take that phrase offensive but she was quite sure the girl didn't mean for it to come out that way, though she didn't know if that was completely true, it was better to be nice. Or safe than sorry. She shrugged, "Well, I know this is quite awkward but, I'm not really sure what to say." she laughed a little, this was going to be harder than she thought, "My name's Lily, and yours is....?" she was laughing a little harder now, this is so weird...

Harmless. Indeed. Seemed a first year student who was definitely not familiar with the Hogwarts castle and got lost, huh?

“Hello then, Lily.” she answered, pronouncing every syllable of the girl’s name and putting her wand back to her robe pocket. “I’m Lindsey. As you have known it, Hufflepuff second year.” she offered a hand to the young girl. “What about you?”

This question was, well, a normal greeting among Hogwarts students. Though house and year usually didn’t affect much in friendships, rivalries or even romances, everyone loved to ask this question. Undoubtedly Lindsey was among one of them.

“So, why are you here? Gotten lost? Or wish to take a look at these trophies and medals?” placing herself closer to Lily, she inquired. “I’m here…well, because of a dare. A dare from my brother, that is.” she shrugged. Edmund should be disappointed now, cause she wouldn’t be blindfolding anyone this evening — or anytime. That’s a prank of a Gryffindor. Not a Hufflepuff. “So I’m here. It would be good to look around though…haven’t been here the whole year since I’ve accepted into Hogwarts.”

That was true. Trophy room sounded holy from the beginning, and she had never thought of being here. Hufflepuff wasn’t always winning the house cups, so she lack the motivation, maybe. Some Ravenclaw or Slytherin students might often pay visits here, though, since they had won the cups for…tons of times.

She pulled herself towards some trophies. Quidditch winnings. The medals seemed pretty, huh? Or even beautiful. Maybe one day she could get a medal like this…maybe.

Lindsey seemed to have been guessing that Lily had gotten lost in the castle, here. She reintroduced herself, again, as Lindsey Springhall a second year Hufflepuff. Maybe that was just the ordinary way when you meet someone, here? She didn't know. She just sheepishly smiled slightly. Trying to hide her unreadable embarrassment. "Lily Reeser, first year Ravenclaw." Didn't she already introduce herself? Oh, maybe it was because Lindsey asked her to, basically, reintroduce herself. Why wasn't she, Lily, paying attention? She didn't want to make a fool of herself, right? Lily woke up from her daydream, not really daydream more of like a wandering point of unconsciousness, and started listening. They shook hands, awkwardly and Lindsey described the reason why she was here.

Her brother had put her into a dare, wow. What dare? No that wasn't important. Why Lily was here, was that right? Yeah, that was right. "Oh, well, both my parents went here and uh, I was just trying to figure out more about my mother...?" Her voice faded away slightly at the end of her sentence. It ended up sounding more like a question, slowly fading into one and hovering in the air for a moment. "Meh, it is nothing important. Sooooo," She dragged out the word slightly, before letting it seep into the awkward silence, again. "Those medals look nice." She added, seeing Lindsey hovering over the medals. She was failing at starting a conversation of sorts. As long as Lily Abigale Ruslanovna Areum Reeser didn't say something stupid or wrong, everything would be alright. Lindsey would still be authentically kind. Not faking it. Right?

She chuckled a little bit when Lily said that she tried to figure out more things about her mother. It seemed common, then, these days Hogwarts students are having things to do with their family mysteries? Like her own aunt Dorothy, wasn’t she very weird and mysterious? Solving puzzles were something for herself, but she wasn’t sure whether Lily was interested in solving her own things. Though she’s a Ravenclaw…so maybe she would be inquisitive.

“Indeed, they are nice.” she answered. “I hope one day I could get one like this! And you too, hopefully we could be here together!” cheerfully she told the first year. Time was passing quick…and suddenly she felt tired. Very tired.

Lindsey yawned. She glanced at her muggle watch, and found that it was only ten to seven o’clock. Still early…for some students and her usual self, huh? But today she was just stressed. Very stressed. Maybe it was due to her continuous reading in the library, or her busy schoolwork, or even, Edmund’s dare. And she just wished to leave this cold, dark place.

“Hey, Lily…” she started again, in a very friendly tone. “I think I might be leaving. It’s rather late, and I still have some homework to do…” she glanced outside the window. Homework. She wasn’t lying, it was true. Astronomy work was still there, difficult, waiting for her arrival. Maybe it’s time to leave.

“See y’a around then, I guess.” she offered. “It’s really nice meeting you.” softly she told the young girl, and left the trophy room. This encounter was completely by chance, and somehow, Lindsey found it quite pleasant. Maybe she’d see Lily again one day…maybe.
