A curious encounter

Four hours passed in a blink of an eye, and Natasha found herself in front of Gringotts, waiting for her parents as per request. She finished shopping just in time, arriving at the appointed location on the dot. However she couldn't see her parents anywhere. Being late was so unlike them; Henrietta and Junseo took great pride in their punctuality, but it seemed like today something might've happened that held up the adults.
The girl sighed. She couldn't just leave her spot and continue exploring Diagon Alley; if her parents finally arrived and she wasn't there, they would probably be very disappointed in her. Similarly, she couldn't just sit down on the pavement to comfortable wait their arrival, that would be very unladylike. Her only option was to stand beside her acquired school supplies like a marble statue, and hope that her parents would come soon.
It was an interesting day so far. Her shopping went smoothly, aside from her little encounter with the muggle-born boy at Flourish and Blotts; an incident which would inevitably reach her father's ear. It was best if he knew it from her, and not from a stranger. The man deliberately told her to avoid muggle-borns at all costs, but she went and did the opposite. The girl was bound to get an earful from her father, and she wasn't going to complain. She was at fault here, this was a fact, so it would be useless to hide it.
As she stood there, rooted to the ground, Natasha looked down at her wand; it was in her cauldron, securely hidden from the prying eyes. 30,5 cm walnut wood with unicorn hair as a core. Ollivander's words were still fresh in her mind. Flexible, keen on discoveries and experiences, that desires an owner in its own image: curious, dynamic and adventurous. The girl was unsure how much of this actually described her, but nevertheless, she repeated the words like a mantra, determined to tell her parents every detail she knew about her wand.
After a while, Natasha rose her eyes to the sky. "It's getting late, where are they...?"
With a long sigh, she shook her head. She was tired, hungry, but most of all she felt lonely without her parents around. All of these led to a sour mood, which was rather hard to conceal. Still, she tried to put on a calm and collected facade, just for appearance's shake.

Her parents had dropped her off at the entrance of Diagon alley so that she could go shopping for her school supplies, while they spent time in London with her younger siblings. Though it wasn’t her first time here, her family wasn’t able to visit London often since they lived in the countryside, and her parents were often busy. Even so, she has always loved the environment the alley provided, with the unique storefronts and the bustling of witches and wizards. It was something she couldn’t experience anywhere in the muggle world, let alone in her small town.
Kira was in no rush as she took it all in and leisurely made her way from store to store, checking off the items on her list and adding them to the drawstring shoulder bag she had brought with her. She didn’t need to get a wand today since she had recently gotten hers from a wandmaker in Germany. Every witch and wizard in her family had gotten their wand from this wandmaker and Kira’s grandmother was very adamant about her doing the same. Her wand was 34 cm and made of chestnut wood with a phoenix feather tail. She learned that the wand is often used by those skilled at flying, herbology, and taming magical beasts, which Kira found comforting due to her interest and her family’s history in those subjects. Though the thing that she loved the most about her wand was that its personality could differ greatly depending on the person who possessed it. It made her feel as if there were no expectations unlike most other wands, she had the freedom to be as she pleased with the knowledge that her wand would match her character.
After about an hour of shopping and a stop for butterbeer and some food, she only had to stop by Flourish and Blotts to purchase the books she needed. Unfortunately, while leaving Madame Malkin’s with her robes, she realized that she wouldn’t have enough money to get all the books on the list. Maybe stopping at the Leaky Cauldron wasn’t the best idea, now she’d have to stop at the bank as well.
Kira wasn’t upset about the detour. She had been to Gringotts once or twice before, and she always found it breathtaking (though it would have been nicer if she wasn’t carrying a bunch of school supplies around). She approached one of the goblins and after asking to take some money out of her family account it luckily didn't take very long for her request to be processed. With enough money to get the rest of the supplies on the list, she made her way out of the building.
As Kira left the bank, she was placing the money in her bag. Just as she walked out the doors and made her way to the street, she accidentally bumped into someone. She stumbled a bit but caught herself as she quickly turned to apologize to the person she had run into. The person turned out to be a girl around Kira’s age who appeared to be of Asian descent with light brown hair. “Oh, I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” she quickly exclaimed, with concern and a bit of embarrassment in her voice.

Natasha wanted nothing more than to go home without any other disturbances, take a shower, have some dinner and hide under her warm bedsheets, but it seemed like the universe had other plans. As she stood there, waiting for what felt like an eternity, she felt someone bump into her. They weren't her parents, as they were never this careless. Clumsiness was something her family didn't tolerate. This only meant that the person disturbing her was most likely a stranger.
She took a deep breath, as she tried to calm down. Her eyes were glued to the ground, where her books now laid haphazardly. When the other person bumped into her, while trying to prevent herself from falling, she managed to knock over her stack of books. The young witch threw a glance over her shoulder, only to see another girl, around her age, obviously on her way to do some more shopping.
Natasha bit her lip hard; barely even hearing the other girl's apology, she kneeled down and started to gather her things. Her movements were quick, her hands were working fast, and within seconds she was standing again. She straightened her back, and her eyes turned cold as she turned around, coming face to face with the other witch. Natasha scoffed as she rose her chin high, watching the girl's every movement like a snake would it's prey's before attack.
She choose not to acknowledge her apology.
"I suggest you watch where you are going. Imagine if you bumped into a full-fledged wizard with a short temper; it would've been a very interesting encounter." Although her words sounded like a good natured reminder on the surface, her voice was actually dripping with venom. She tilted her head to the side, continuing to watch the other girl with a disturbingly hard stare.

The venom in the girl’s voice caught Kira off guard and it took a second for her to collect herself. She felt bad for knocking this person’s stuff to the ground and while she understood her frustration, her response to the situation was uncalled for. Kira’s eyes hardened, she was in no way okay with being spoken to in such a manner. She wasn’t oblivious to how this girl had talked down to her. Kira decided she wouldn’t feed into the girl's attitude, but she wouldn’t let it slide either.
“Look,” she spoke clearly and calmly, “I’m sorry I bumped into you, it was my fault.” Not letting the girl respond, Kira continued, “But…” she asserted sharply as she took a couple of steps closer to the girl. She wasn’t quite in her face, but she closed the distance enough that the other girl would have to look up and the height difference between the two girls was obvious. Her eyes had hardened with her own kind of harshness, and the words that left her mouth next were coated with a sickly sweetness as she gave a steely smile. “As for your little piece of advice, I appreciate it. But if a full-grown wizard were to react to such a menial disruption in the way you’re suggesting, they would surely be sued for assaulting a minor, and I would also question how they were allowed to have a wand.”
Not wanting to escalate the situation, Kira took a step back, taking a deep breath. Even though the air of harshness she had just a moment ago melted away, she maintained an air of confidence. “I hope you have a nice day,” Kira said sincerely with a small smile before she turned and joined the crowd of witches and wizards leaving the girl on the sidewalk outside of Gringotts.
ReducioSorry if you wanted the thread to be longer but Kira just isn't the type of person to escalate something. I think their interaction was really interesting and it allowed me to write and explore a new side of Kira. I'd love for her and Natasha to meet again so feel free to owl me if you want to brainstorm(I'm going to add one more post here about Kira walking through the crowd reflecting on what happened if you want to add something similar for Natasha)

The young witch blinked once, twice, thrice, before turning around to stare at the other girl's retreating back. The harshness of her words surprised her, never in her 11 years has she met someone her age that actually talked back to her. Half of her wanted to just run after her, and make her apologize. Put her in her place for messing with the wrong person, but in the end Natasha decided against it. She had done enough running around for that day. Besides, her parents were ought to arrive anytime now. Causing a ruckus would only serve to anger them.
Natasha crossed her arms across her chest as she glanced every now and then in the direction she saw the other girl disappear. Looking back at their interaction, Natasha felt somewhat hurt by her words. She was the one provoking the other witch with her venom dripped warning, she knew that. She was angry and frustrated, and said the first thing that came to her mind. But she wasn't talking about a hypothetical situation at all. It had actually happened to her once, around three months ago, when she bumped into her uncle by accident in Diagon Alley. At the time Natasha didn't really think much about her uncle's showcase of anger. It was his normal behavior, the whole clan knew about his short temper. Natasha just wanted to warn the other girl, but it came out wrong. It seemed like she had to watch her phrasing and tone from now on.
But now, those words made her think. Could it be considered an assault? When she opened her mouth minutes ago, she wasn't expecting her response to cause such doubtful thoughts in her mind. She was now doubting her own uncle's capabilities, and this wasn't right.
"No, I refuse to believe that. It was not an assault," she said, trying desperately to convince herself. "I was in the wrong, I disturbed him, I deserved my punishment."
The girl was silent for a second, then straightened her back with a final nod. Just then, she noticed her parents' approaching forms, her father's colorful robes stood out in the crowd.
She was just glad she could finally go home.
ReducioNo, I think the interaction was perfect, even if it was short! I got the chance to write about a more vulnerable Natasha in this last post, which is great. I would love for them to meet again!
