Percival walked down the street that made Diagon Alley. It was not difficult to notice the unevenness of the stones that made up the street. Whether it was a difference or height or length, the fact remained consistent with his earlier observation. His shoes clacked against the stone due to his fast pace as he worked to keep up with the figure beside him. Percival glanced slightly to his left to fully take in his Uncle Terrence. The man looked as if the sands of time had worn down upon him. His hair looked oily collecting together in strands, and his eyes held bags fit enough to be pin cushions.

To anyone else, the man would probably have looked half crazy, but to Percival, he was the same man he had always known. It had been his idea to go shopping in Diagon Alley while his Uncle was in town. The older man was rarely in town these days, and Percival wanted to make their short time together worthwhile. Percival had been irking to get a pet for the longest time. It made sense for him to get one now before he went back to school. What better way to start off the school year than with your very own pet. The pair walked in silence towards the familiar-looking shop Magical Menagerie. Though, the silence was broken when the older man decided to speak up.

'So have you thought about what pet you want?' Uncle Terrence asked turning his blank gaze towards the shorter boy.

"Not really." he said with a small shrug glancing towards his Uncle as he did so.

'What about a ca-?' his Uncle started before getting interrupted rather quickly.

"Heavens no!" he exclaimed looking almost disgusted at the thought of owning a cat.

Uncle Terrence let out a boisterous laugh, finding his inexplicable hatred for cats rather amusing. Though it was not like his hatred for cats came out of nowhere. Percival still thought about the grey bastard that he had come to hate. His Aunt's cat had tainted his view on the furry beasts for all of eternity. Percival decided to quickly slip inside the shop to avoid any more of his Uncle's teasing. "I'll be right back." he called over his shoulder to address his Uncle before disappearing into the shop.

The first thing that hit him was the underlying smell of different animals. Percival wrinkled his dainty nose at the smell, and he wished that he didn't have such a sensitive nose. Though it didn't take much to distract him from the smell as his eyes fell on a large white owl. He quickly walked over to examine the owl curious to get a closer look. To his surprise, the owl let out an angry squawk. While it was nothing too vicious, it curbed his interest in the great bird.

Percival moved on going from cage to cage. The boy did not stay too long in front of any of the cages. Passing rats and lizards alike, and he made sure to pay no attention to the cats. He truly cared little about the filthy beasts to even grace them with a chance. He had glanced at cages that held the snakes, but they only seemed to hiss angrily. Percival's gaze flicked from cage to cage before he suddenly stopped. Inside the cage sat a black spider roughly about the size of his palm. Its beady little eyes staring up at him with a look he could have sworn was curiosity. The thing was quiet and in a way graceful. It stood still as if it was trying to gauge his reaction. Percival wondered if the spider was used to humans freaking out when seeing a spider as large as it was. It only made Percival more determined to not be afraid of the spider. He wanted to adopt the spider, not only because it was cool and interesting, but because the chances of it getting adopting could be slim. The thought of the spider spending the rest of its days in a cage was enough to drive him to go ahead and adopt the creature.

The boy's lips pulled upwards in a slight smile as he looked at the creature. The spider hadn't turned away from him yet. Whether or not that was because it was scared or curious he didn't really know. "What do you say? Want to come home with me?" he asked the spider. Percival didn't expect a reply and instead went straight to the point, and picked up the cage. The boy proceeded to slowly bring the cage up to the front. Not wanting to jostle and scare his newly acquired pet.

Percival looked at the elderly woman who was manning the cash register. He handed her the correct amount for the spider. Placing the eighteen Galleons on the counter. He quickly thanked the lady for her time. The boy already knew what he wanted to name the spider. Prometheus would be his spider's name. Named after the Titan god of fire who was credited for the creation of the human race. It had a nice ring to it, but everyone needed a nickname. "Your name will be Prometheus, but I'll call you. . . Pom. he chortled. Percival opened the cage pulling out Pom carefully, before placing the spider onto his shoulder.
