A Spill of Friendship
Aurora walked down the gloomy, hallowed halls of the dungeons, turning right towards the entrance of the potions classroom. Her eyelids felt heavy on her face, and she was not in the best mood for a long lesson that required her full attention. She had spent the entire night trying to fall asleep, but for some reason kept tossing and turning, and her mind wouldn't shut off no matter how hard she tried.
As she entered the classroom, she sat down on the first stool she saw, not caring or noticing who she was sitting next to. Her legs were already aching from the walk down to the dungeons from the Gryffindor Common Room, and her whole body and mind felt overused and sore. She barely noticed when the Professor started the lesson, her mind desperate for sleep, but when the rest of her classmates got up to collect the needed supplies for brewing their potion, she got up too without any awareness of her surroundings. As soon as her legs touched the floor, and she took one step, her mind and eyes jolted awake as she crashed into another student. His potion supplies fell crashing to the floor, and the entire classroom reverted their eyes in her direction. "I am so sorry. Here, let me help you." She got down to pick up his weighing scales and glass phials, that to her luck had not broken. She handed them over to the other student, making eye contact with him for the first time. She didn't recognize his face, but his kind eyes made him seem like the type to forgive her clumsiness. "Again, I'm so sorry for bumping into you. I didn't get much sleep last night, so please excuse my lack of elegance."

A Spill of Friendship
☆ @Aurora Vaughn ☆AbilitiesNote: So Sorry for delayReducioEarl hadn’t slept a wink the night before. He’d been up all night, curled up on a couch near the huge fireplace in the hufflepuff commons, book in hand, eyes scanning the finely printed black lines. Simon had just been turned into a vampire and was in the middle of a breakdown; despite how strange it may have seemed Earl had wanted to read to a point in the book where the character was feeling okay again. Otherwise, it felt like he’d be prolonging his pain, rather than being there for him like a good friend and dedicated reader. The only problem was Earl had finished the entire book and started the second, and Simon still hadn’t recovered.
Despite having not have slept, our young boy looked fresh as a daisy, a glass of cold tea hidden under the table as curtesy of the house elves, whom he’d seen cleaning and put his book aside to help for a bit. Helping them reach higher places, bringing them objects so they could polish them, and steading them as they cleaned the fire place, making sure to keep a firm grasp on their clothing so they didn’t accidentally tumble into the roaring flames. So now, even though his head was on the surface of his desk and eyes closed to shield against the rather harsh light which lit the potions classroom, Earl was beautiful. Perfect skin with a dusting of freckles across the bridge of his nose and cheeks, lips slightly parted as adorable cat-like snores escaped his sleeping figure, chest rising and lowering with a steady, calming rhythm. Watching him sleep would have been enough to steady anxiety, for he looked as peaceful as a lake lit by moonlight, and had the innocence of a kid blowing dandelion fuzz and giggling as the seeds danced in the wind.
The bright pink locks of hair fell over his eyes in an elegant, deliberately messy manner. It was the kind of messy which made you want to run your hands through it and straighten it out, rather than looking unkempt. In fact, his entire figure practically prompted attachment. His sweater was warm and fuzzy, and the tattered gray scarf he had around his neck had been softened by years of washing and rewashing. If you got close, the smell of honey and peaches would invade your nose, mixing in a potent cocktail. So small he seemed able to break if one squeezed him too tight.
He’d been nodding off for the entirety of the lesson, taking notes with one hand, eyes closed as the teacher droned on at the front. Despite not looking at what he was writing, everything came perfectly aligned. His hand writing was like that of a popular girl. You know the type. Rounded off letters and hearts above the i’s, carefully indented paragraphs and flowers drawn on the edge of the page.
So that all was to explain why exactly Earl, who was normally as graceful and coordinated as a fay creature, was sent sprawling across the potions floor, hitting his head against the edge of a desk on his way down, as the supplies fell from his already weak grip. Dazed, he lay on the floor, pale fingers going to his head and coming away red and sticky. Ugh. Blood was going to be an absolute PAIN to wash off. “Heck,” he groaned, curling up into a ball for a few seconds, internally begging the room to stop spinning.
Using the desk to push himself up, Earl gratefully accepted his supplies and set them down on a nearby desk, flashing the girl a weak smile. “Yeah, uhm, no problem,” he slurred out, meeting her gaze with his pale gray eyes. “Sorry I should have been watching where I was going, this is my fault.”
