History/Background Story:

Pre-Hogwarts: Born in Galway, Ireland to two wizard parents - Rory and Ciara - on February 22, 2008, William grew up with magic as a common fact of life. He didn't think much of it, nor how it might affect his own life beyond the fact that it had deprived him of one of his parents every week. There were grandparents, yes, but it seemed as though no one stuck around in William's life; he spent more time alone than he did with his family members. The resentment he held was surface level, directed more at his blameless parents than at the Ministry or magic itself. Even when his magic ability manifested at age 7 during a tantrum as his father was leaving for work, William thought very little of it. It wasn't until age 11 that he found out that his abilities had consequences, albeit good consequences that afforded him the opportunity to attend Hogwarts.

Needless to say that William's parents were positively thrilled when the boy's owl came; it was expected, but they were no less proud. His friends from school - almost all muggles - were slightly less impressed when the boy broke the news that he'd be moving. Some drawn out story about his parents' work bored his mates enough that they didn't push, but they were still disappointed. So too was William, who was about to find himself in a situation where he'd have to make new friends once again, friends who were presumably far more excited to be attending Hogwarts than he was. Easier said than done when the boy was more comfortable in friendships than he was making them, but his parents both assured him that it would be far less intimidating than he was working it up to be.
