Are we the same?
Location: Flourish and Blotts
With: @Aldor Humbleglow
It wasn't Natasha's first time in Diagon Alley, no. The girl knew the place like the back of her hand; she had visited every shop before with her parents, and made memories she would never forget. Like the one time she got lost in Madam Malkin's shop while her mother was trying on a set of new robes, or the time her father brought her with him to the Apothecary for the first time.
But now; now it was different. She was officially admitted to Hogwarts, which meant that some shopping was in order. The girl’s eyes wandered around the busy streets, mentally listing the shops she’d need to visit. It would be best to follow the supply list she got with her acceptance letter, and do the shopping in the order the items were listed there. But at the same time, she didn’t want to finish her shopping with her books. She was just too excited, and wanted to go there as soon as possible. Flourish and Blotts had to be her favourite shop; whenever she came to Diagon Alley with her parents, she always found an excuse to go in there and roam around for a little while.
The young witch glanced at the two adults walking at either side of her. Her mother stood tall, her every step oozed with elegance and finesse, something the girl always admired. The woman had a faraway look in her eyes, which Natasha couldn’t quite comprehend. At her other side, her father was walking leisurely, his fingers laced together at his back. The wizard stood out like a sore thumb among the crowd; his bright colored traditional korean clothing and overall appearance screamed foreigner. He didn’t seem to mind the occasional stares he was getting, mused Natasha.
The girl tore her eyes from her parents and looked at the busy streets spreading out in front of her.
“Why are some people staring at you, father? It’s the first time I’ve seen such a thing.”
“It’s not the first time this happened, Natasha. You just weren’t here to notice it. A lot of people know me, if only by passing, but still. Those who stare are most likely here for the first time.”
At her father’s calm words, Natasha raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
“Muggles?”
“Or muggle-born children, yes,” nodded the man.
“Be sure to leave them alone, child. If you do, they won’t approach you either. We don’t want to mingle with them.”
Natasha looked between the two adults, contemplating their words for a few seconds. In the end, she spoke with a cold tone. “Understood.”
Junseo Choi put his hand on his daughter’s shoulder. “Go now. We will meet in front of Gringotts in four hours. Me and Henrietta have some errands to run.”
“Yes, father.” The girl nodded with the smallest smile as she stopped in her tracks; her parents leaving without looking back.
Natasha sighed, and looked to her right. She was right in front of Flourish and Blotts. She tilted her head to the side for a moment. Since she was already here, there was no point in starting her shopping elsewhere. She would have to come back here anyway.
With a determined glint in her eyes the young witch walked inside, her robes flying in the summer wind.

Already inside, a boy with messy ginger hair wandered, with the companion of a woman, she looked like she was in about her 30's, she stood out quite a lot, a pair of beautiful green eyes and a wonderful set of red hairs. Some wizards would aproach her, and she would sign a number of things they brought to her, there was not a crowd around her, but it was clear that she was quite known, this would of course, catch the attention of a curious person.
The woman was pretty calm, and smiley, on the other hand, the boy who stood by her, would stay with a calm and serious face, yet, he was obviously nervous, his hands were slightly shaky, and he couldn't even look at the people in the eyes.
''Isn't it nice to have such a nice set of people around you? I'm sure you will find someone from your age- So don't worry about it! And remember, keep smilling darling, that positivity needs to bloom like a wonderful flower.'' The woman, who was presumably his mother, would pat his head. As she kept walking, followed by him, as they searched for the items in the list of the required things sent by Hogwarts.
''Can I walk around for a bit?'' The boy said in a quiet tone, as he held his favorite book close to his chest. He wanted to get away for a few seconds, as even more people started to aproach her to greet her, or getting some books and other things signed. His guardian aproved this.
And so Aldor started 'exploring' the shop, when in reality, he simply stood nearby, reading a book about the biology of magical beings that was well above first year's level of study, but it was pretty clear that this boy was reading it with no problem at all. Now there were three options that any person could take in this situattion, aproach the aparently known witch that was closer to the entrance signing different items, greeting the boy that was at the back of the shop, or just ignoring both of them and live your own life.
Yet, the witch was probably the best option, she seemed so happy and had such a great and warm smile, and she was even gifting books to some people, and some kind of small papper giftboxes that had little possitive messages inside, whoever this woman was, she was probably great.

Natasha walked down the aisles in the bookstore with steps as smooth as a snake’s movements. She occasionally brushed the books’ bindings with her fingertips. She already gathered a few of the books she’d need for her first year, when her eyes landed on a witch standing close to the entrance; her actions were rather eye catching, it seemed like she was signing the things people brought up to her. The young girl briefly wondered who she was, but in the end, she tore away her eyes from the woman’s form. If she went up to her to see what was happening, she might spend more time in here than necessary, and wouldn’t have time to do the rest of her shopping. Her parents wouldn’t be very thrilled.
Natasha walked towards the back of the store, where she knew she’d find the rest of the books she needed. She browsed the shelves humming a quiet tune she picked up from her mother. It took only a couple of minutes until she found what she was looking for, but someone was standing right before the shelf, making her unable to reach the book.
It was a ginger headed boy.
Natasha clicked her tongue in annoyance before fixing him with a cold glare. He looked unfamiliar, and for some reason the girl felt an instant dislike towards him.
“You’re in my way. Move.”

''Hm- alright then-sorry for interrupting you-'' Aldor seemed a little too calm considering the sittuation he was in, he would not even try to make eye contact with her, he did not even look offended or attacked, it was almost as if he was inmune to the tone in which she spoke, although, he was clearly nervous, so he simply moved away and walked further into the store, this time, looking for a specific item, after all, his guardian was too busy to even pay attention on where every single thing was. And so, Aldor kept searching, while stopping to read his book every once in a while.
He would close the book for a moment, and kept looking around, he would just walk, keeping that strange and gentle smile. After a few minutes of looking, he would stop, still holding the book close to his chest, as if he was waiting for someone, maybe his parents were getting some things signed by the witch at the entrance of the store.
Back with Aldor's guardian, she would still be there at the entrance, she seemed a little tired, but was still doing the same thing, giving a kind smile, talking to the people who aproached her with a gentle and calming tone, signing things, it was almost as if she was used to this. Although, she was a strange individual, why would someone with a relatively high popularity be in the diagon alley, specifically this store, after all, she seems like a writer, couldn't she place her books in a better place?

“What…”
The girl stared after the boy with an incredulous look on her face. All her life, she was treated with respect. She was adored, praised, sometimes even feared by those her age, and yet… This boy, who seemed nothing out of the ordinary dared to treat her like thin air. He didn’t look in her eyes, he didn’t acknowledge her the way he should have, and it enraged her. She was raised to stay collected in every situation, but she was most definitely unprepared for this, which is why she acted according to her instincts, and not according to her racional mind.
Natasha grabbed a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, put it on top of the small pile of books in her hands, and strode after the boy. She followed him for a while, observing his every action and movement, like a predator would its prey’s. But she quickly became fed up by the gentle smile that never seemed to leave his lips. She couldn’t even comprehend what he could be thinking about that made him so calm.
The young witch grabbed the boy’s shoulder, turning him around forcefully with an iron grip; she hoped that this would finally help him notice her.
“Oi!” Natasha looked at him from head to toe, her voice only a whisper. “What is your deal? What and who are you?”

This last action did seem to bother him, he is not the type of person who is comfortable with physical contact, as soon as she turned him around he took a step back, the smile he had would fade for a few seconds, and it turned into a blank and emotionless stare. The boy would tilt his head to the side, almost like he was analizing her.
''I'm Al-'' Before the boy could finish his frase, the witch who was at the entrance a few minutes ago would walk up to them, standing a few feet behind the girl.
''Aldor Amadeus Humbleglow, you almost gave me a heart attack sweetheart- I thought you got out of the sto- Oh, is she a friend of yours? I am so sorry for interrupting, my name is Iphiane Humbleglow. ''
The witch would bow slightly, still showing the same kind smile, although, something was off about her. Iphiane Humbleglow? This name would sound familiar to the people who study the biology of magical beings, to the lovers of poetry and fans of quidditch, her name appears on the cover of quite a few books. There is even a collection of books written by herself.
Why would this strange kid be with her, maybe she was his mother? Although, this was the most reasonable option, he could be a Muggle-born, and this woman could be someone related to him, but not exactly his mother, yet, this idea would only be in the mind of someone who is quite paranoic about being around Muggles.

Humbleglow, Humbleglow… The name did seem to ring a bell. Natasha thought that she saw the name on the cover of one of her father’s books back at home, but at the same time she wasn’t quite sure. Her father’s study was full of Korean authors’ publications, and she rarely saw English names and titles in the pile of books.
“Iphiane Humbleglow…” she whispered, testing the name on her lips. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she looked between the woman and the boy, whom now she knew as Aldor. Then, she continued with a louder tone, her previously hostile behaviour subsiding considerably. “We are not exactly friends, ma’am. Merely… acquaintances. We just met a moment ago, and I was trying to figure out who he is.”
A second passed, and she turned back to Aldor. She remembered the analyzing eyes he was looking at her with from before. She did not like that one bit. The girl stepped closer, back straight, and hands laced around her books.
“Well, you didn’t get to answer my question from before, right? What are you? Half-blood or… muggle-born? I don’t want to seem rude, but I have this habit of asking this question when I meet someone for the first time.” Natasha smiled at the woman and Aldor with fake innocence. “I know it’s silly, but I can’t help myself.”
This Aldor boy was most definitely not a pure-blood, which irritated her to no end.

Iphiane knew what was going on as soon as she heard the question, and she could've avoided this situattion, telling Aldor to follow her, but she knew he would not survive Hogwarts if he did not learn to handle this type of predicament. And so, she just waited for Aldor to do something. Meanwhile, Aldor was preparing himself for what was coming next, he knew this wasn't going to end well, no matter whatever he said.
''I am a muggle born, showed signs of magic being in me and got given away to my aunt by incompetent muggles- and so, I decided to follow the steps to be a wizard-''
This answer seemed to concern Iphiane who just stared at Aldor, who kept the same calm as before, his tone was strong enough to confront the young wizard, but not enough to make the sittuation escalate further. ''I am very sorry to tell you, that the only way that I am not stepping into Hogwarts, is death-''
Did he just read her mind? Not really, but it was pretty obvious she was trying taunt him, even if he never had a similar experience before, Iphiane, his aunt, warned him about the possibility of this happening, after all, his aunt has always been worried about the day when he has to face his fears, social interaction with a pure-blood.

“I’ve never said anything about death, boy. Nor about not letting you step into Hogwarts. Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
The young witch gave him a tight smile as she put down her pile of books on the ground. As she stood up, she laced her fingers behind her back, pushing her robes out of the way in the process. Slowly, she began to circle around the boy, while keeping the older witch in her peripheral vision at all times.
Despite her parents’ advice, the girl approached a muggle-born and got herself in a very delicate situation. But the day Natasha Choi gets intimidated by a muggle-born, might as well be her last. She’d never let someone inferior to her step on her dignity.
“You see, I don’t have the power to tell you what you can or can’t do. Yet. But I’ll let you in on a secret. Your magic is only a genetic mutation. A malfunction, which is highly unnatural for your kind. You take pride in something that wasn’t even meant to be yours in the first place. You ancestors have most probably hunted down those with magic, which means they would’ve killed you too without hesitation; you turned out to be their worst nightmare and enemy.”
The young witch stopped in her tracks suddenly, gritting her teeth. Her next sentences were dripping with venom.
“While your ancestors were all high and mighty murderers, mine were survivors. They hunted us because they feared us, and wanted nothing to do with magic. And now those like you have the audacity to come into our world, and demand to be treated as equals!? To be taught about magic? You do not deserve to be part of this world. You don’t belong here.”
Natasha let out a shaky sigh. The mere thought of muggles and their magical offsprings made her sick to the stomach. For so long, she wanted to let them know how wrong they were to even dream about being a part of this world. And now that she did, relief took over her being. This time, it was only one boy who listened to her, but one day, she will make every wizard and witch see just why muggle-borns shouldn’t be allowed in this society.
The girl turned her back to the two Humbleglows, and bent down to gather her belongings. As she did so, with a gravely calm tone, she added: “You can enter Hogwarts, study as you wish, enjoy your life full of magic... But mark my words. One day, you’re going to wish you were only an ‘incompetent muggle’; I’ll make sure of it.”

While Aldor seemed really anoyed, Iphiane was. . . Tearing up? But as soon as the tears filled her eyes, she started laughing histerically, like maniac of sorts, everyone in the store probably heard it, and probably already pretended nothing happened. Iphiane would breath heavily, trying to hold her laughter, but she just kept going, what is wrong with her?
''I-I, I think you could've chosen your words better Aldor-'' She would clear her throat, still laughing. ''I just- 'The only way I' m not stepping into Hogwarts is death-' I'm sorry- I'm so sorry but it was just so dramatic-''
The witch would keep laughing for a few seconds, until she recovered her composture, meanwhile, Aldor would just stare at her, was she. . . mocking him?
''Anyway- Your uh- let's say 'Worthless' fight took a lot of our time, and you, mister, haven't gotten any other of the essentials, so, leave miss- whatever your name is- Choi?- was it?''
Aldor would look up to his aunt with a confused look, how did she know that? Can she read minds?
''I saw your father right before they left you on your own, even I admit it is not hard to recognize someone like your father- Pureblooded, famous and mighty-'' She would chuckle, ''Since you will spend the rest of the year trapped in Hogwarts- Just tell your father I will start writting books again- I am sure he will like part 8 of the book series, it is about the future doom of Muggles and their magical children, have a nice day, darling-''
The witch would start walking again, gesturing Aldor to follow her, she seemed so calm, it was almost impossible to understand how she just stood there watching Aldor getting mocked and receiving a threat, and laugh at what he said, yet, she is still wiser than both of them, she has lived in both worlds, being a known and respected wizard, and getting the hate of the other wizards for being considered inferior.
