Katie's parents were cruel and strict with her growing up. They are staunch pure-blood supremacists and their word is law in their manor. Katie first gets the chance to make up her own mind on things when she comes to Hogwarts. In the past, when she asked questions or challenged their beliefs, they'd punished her by telling at her while giving long lectures on why she was completely ignorant on the topic. Eventually, she just stopped questioning them.
Katie has no siblings, but she will be having a little sibling towards late January, early February. She finds this out at the end of December / beginning of January, when she overheard her family talking about it. Her main relatives are on her father's side, but she doesn't like the majority of them. Katie vows them much like she views her: snooty, uptight, rich, bigoted pure-bloods. She masks her true emotions from he family though.
When Katie was seven years old, she found out that she would be the heir of the Palsorette family. Since her family is incredibly wealthy and a prominent member of pure-blood society, this was very important for her to understand the concept of being the heir.
When Katie was ten years old, she remembered some questions her younger self had had for her parents before they were shut down. With these questions and doubts brought back to the surface of her mind, she resumed her skepticism of her parents pure-blood supremacist ideals, but this time, she kept them in her head and did not voice her doubts.
By the time Hogwarts had started and she saw everyone, including the muggle-borns her father had rented about as being "inferior", being equally good at school, the last shred of doubt Katie had, that her doubts about pure-blood were unfounded, dissipated. Katie currently resents her parents greatly for the lies they taught her write the truth and the refusal to listen to any other perspective.

First Accidental Magic:

Katie's first accidental magic happened when she was six years old. Her cousin (first cousin on her father's side), Len Palsorette, red Katie into flying on a racing broom! At first, Katie was reasonably questioning and hesitant. Then, her father came outside to see what Katie and Len were doing. Katie had half expected her father to say that flying was only for boys and not for girls, which Katie could use as an excuse for Lem, and avoid giving in to Len's peer pressure. Unfortunately, her father did the opposite. He shouted 'Week are you going to fly or not?! How about you stop being a girl and don't waste Len's time and go up? What Katie did not realize, was that Len had slipped the broom between her legs while Katie wasn't paying attention, and quietly commanded the broom up. At this time Katie lost it. She was beyond enraged with her father. Katie yelled at him that of course she was a girl, and that it wasn't her fault he'd had a daughter infused if a son, because he created get. She also screamed at her father that being a girl wasn't an insult and that she was proud to have common sense. Katie glanced down as her broom violently jerked. She started panicking, and temporarily completely forgot all about her father and Len, both of whom had started giggling at her predicament. Katie tried to land safely, but she'd never had any previous instruction on how to fly or control a broom, and she lost control. The broom went plummeting, but instead of hitting the ground she bounced up and into her mother's arms. Her mother had come outside to see what the matter was, and was horrified, bout hadn't had the time to say or do anything before Katie was in her arms.
