The Ballroom. Logan was finally here. He knew that this was the place it would all go down. The massive room had big floating candelabras that looked like really big stars. Logan walked in here with complete amazement. Everything in the castle never ceased to amaze him. Everything seemed awesome from the classes to the people.
He looked around at the complete emptiness and silence that the ballroom possessed. It was a bit eerie to him.
He came here for Alina. She said he was gonna help him learn how to dance. Which was a relief because, Logan was a terrible dancer. He couldn't dance most muggle dances so what would happen if he was to go to the ball with no knowledge on how to dance once he got there.
He went over to a portrait and looked at it. It was so big and realistic. It was definitely not hand drawn. It had some magic involved. He had this strange feeling that the eyes of every single portrait in the room were watching him. He went over to a wall, sat down and leaned his back against it. He let out a loud sigh and closed his eyes. He thought of trying one of the instruments here to kill time but when he got there, he heard a loud creak. He turned back and realized it was the door opening.

She usually avoided the school's Ballroom. In her first year she had gone there a small handful of times to play the piano, only to find it usually occupied - mostly by girls that thought they were the next dancers for the Salle Le Peletier (the Paris Opera Ballet), the most prestigious of all ballet companies. It annoyed her.
Probably because she could think back to a time when she was perhaps the age of eight and in her own Ballroom back in Updown Court, her home in Windlesham Village of Surrey, England. They had just moved there after her mother's death - her grandmother, her father, her identical twin sister Bella, and herself. The ballroom was beautiful, elegant and even larger than that of Hogwarts', with golden features everywhere. There was a large chandelier that sparkled so much it begged to be the center of attention. It was there that her grandmother expected greatness in the form of ballet from the two identical girls. Both were naturally talented with it, perhaps Alina a bit more than her twin, but on the particular day of the memory her mind was elsewhere. The two were working on a routine that they were expected to show at one of her father's charity events when Alina got a flashback to seeing her mother lying on the floor of the Grand Foyer of their mansion back in France - motionless. Dead. She stopped dancing, causing her sister to lose her balance in mid-dance and bump into her. Alina then stumbled into a large elaborate, and very expensive and irreplaceable, glass vase art. She fell to the floor, the vase breaking in countless tiny pieces of jagged glass, cutting into her. Normally it would be a bad accident for anyone but with her blood condition that caused her blood not to clot, it put her in the hospital for nearly a week.
But this wasn't a time for thinking of disappointing grandmothers with too high of standards or others. She was there to focus on teaching Logan how to dance so he felt more confident about the upcoming Ball. She knew he'd do great, as he seemed to be a natural at whatever it was he did.
"There's my stable boy," she smiled to him, thinking about how he had said that he was like the stable hand that fell for the princess. Her eyes instantly fell to the piano in the corner of the room and she wanted to play it. She loved playing the piano and was quite good at it. She quickly snapped out of thought and looked back to the Gryffindor. "Sorry, it's been awhile since I played. I'll have to come up here sometime and practice a little to appease my piano teacher. You said you're more accustomed to the muggle word, right? Maybe you've heard some of his music before. Elton John? He's one of our neighbors," she said and sat down on the bench but facing the other way, ready for dancing, not piano playing. "There's a lot of music festivals held near my home. Brian May from a muggle group named Queen is another neighbor," she sighed, thinking of home and how she never really got a goodbye from her father.
"If you like music, maybe sometime you can visit and attend one. Then you could see our ballroom as well," but she realized she was chatting too much so she stopped. "Anywayyyyy...onto dancing, yes?" she said as she stood up and gave him a curtsy. "If you'll follow me, Sir." She walked to the other side of the piano and put a record on the record player before linking her arm with his and leading him out towards the middle of the floor. "First step is to relax. Dancing is just a way for two people to enjoy themselves and express themselves, to share time together, and to communicate without words." No stress was needed. No pressure. She gave him a smile and took both of his hands in hers and began to lead him through some steps of one of the more simple formal dances.

Logan was standing right next to the piano when he saw someone come in. It was Alina. He said with a dog of relief as he ran up to meet her. He was ready to become just as good at dancing as Alina. Or at least, not make a fool of himself when the real ball started."Finally"
She said some if her neighbours were Elton John and Briar May. They were both great musicians. He'd been to some concerts, but he didn't know what it would be like if he went with her to a music festival."You live next to top-notch celebrities. You never cease to amaze me, Alina."He said as he winked at her. She grabbed my hands and took me into formal dancing position. She said the first step was to relax. Dancing was used for people you express and enjoy themselves, to share time with each other, and to communicate without words."Sure, I'd love to go with you. Maybe you can introduce me to some of your celebrity friends"He inhaled and exhaled slowly as he put off all pressure and stress that had be building up and accumulating in his system over the last couple of days."Seems easy enough."
And just like that we begin to dance. He knew that he wasn't gonna be as good as Alina but at least, he aimed for competence.

"The best part about this dance is that it looks like you're doing more than you actual are. Honestly, most of them are like that," she assured him. She slowly eased up placing slight pressure on his hand to show him where to go next and soon, whether he realized it or not, he was now the one leading her in the dance.
Alina smiled because, at least with this one, he was a quick learner just as she thought. "You know, I think you could have been a Ravenclaw," she told him. The quick learning paired with his seemingly infinite knowledge of Nordic Mythology. It impressed her.
"Now, the next one, Stable Boy, goes as such," she smiled widely at the nickname he had given himself and began to show him. It was a variation on the one they had just done, with more to it. She then stepped back to him and took his hands at her waist this time. "Start out same as before," she told him and then within five steps it became more complicated but she tried to go slow and explain it along the way she he understood. The good news was that these were two of the most popular that were done at most dances, so if he could even just master these two then he would be golden.
She moved with him, her eyes always either down to check on his footwork or glancing up to those blue eyes of his, hoping to check for any sign of lack of understanding or something. She kept upbeat and smiling because she wanted this to not only be a positive experience, but she was also glad to be back on good terms with him.
To make things a little complicated, and to add in a dash of more, she stepped back, causing one of his hands to fall from her waist. She took his hand in hers and lifted it up and then did a little spin before laughing. "Okay, now I'm just getting ahead of ourselves."

Sorry for the wait
Dancing with Alina felt great. Logan was happy to be a fast learner because when he was done with actually learning something, he would use the time left over to have fun.
Alina was right. Dancing was really easy. We were just gliding through the steps like pros.
Things started getting harder so he did his best to keep up with her. She stepped back and did a spin. He wasn't sure how that worked on TV and movies but seeing it now seemed to easy. She was an excellent teacher and I was a great student. We'd be done in no time.He was encouraging her to continue. Something about dancing with her seemed magical. He remembered a popular move he saw in a couple of movies. He wasn't sure what it was called but he knew how to do it."No, you're a good dancer. Keep going"He put her hands on his shoulders as he put both of his hands on her waist. When that was done, he lifted her up for a moment and brought her back down."Hmm. I wonder."He said as he brought her back to starting position."Wow. I didn't know I could do that. That's pretty much the only complex move I know."

She didn't expect him to lift her like that but it made sense, he was stronger and she was of a petite build. Still, it caught her off guard and she liked it so she smiled and even laughed a little when he did so. It was a nice carefree moment. "You seem pretty skilled in everything you attempt," she complimented him.
Alina smiled because he really had done quiet well in this one lesson of theirs. "The dance is now less than one month away. Think you feel ready? We could always meet again if you think that'd help," she offered. "But for now, I'd say you aced this lesson. O for Outstanding, Mr. Zarcovich," she imitated one of the professors.
"And now that work is done, time to play. If you'd ask this particular girl, some things never go out of style. Someone's never too old to draw rainbows and one is never too old for a nice game of hide and seek, especially in an abandoned ballroom. So you go first. I'll count to twenty and then come find you." she said and didn't wait for his answer and covered her eyes with her hands and slowly began to count out loud. "One, two, three..." she paused, just to let him collect his thoughts on where to go since she pounced the game on him. "Four, five six..."

It felt good to know he was good at everything he tried in the wizarding world. He felt like his soul belonged her. Back at the muggle world, he didn't succeed much, but here, he was awesome at everything he tried his hand at.
Alina wanted to play hide and seek with him but apparently he wasn't given much of a choice. She started to count and his mind raced. He didn't know what to do and he tends to do monumentally stupid things when under pressure.
A couple days ago, he and Alina watched to sunrise at the bridge and I kissed her. She got upset for reasons best known to her and ran away. I felt rather stupid as our relationship got sliced in half but somehow, it mended rather quickly.
Apparently, he always had a hard time learning his lesson in both the muggle world and the wizarding world, so he swung for the fences.
She was up to eight when I grabbed her hand with one of my hands and kissed her. She definitely wasn't gonna be expecting this, but there were no secrets between us now and the secrets she kept were the reason she stormed of the bridge."Feuch nach ruith thu air falbh"
OCC note: "Feuch nach ruith thu air falbh" means "please don't run away" in Scots Gaelic

Their first kiss was...complicated.
Alina had enjoyed so much of her time with Logan Zarcovich that she not only wanted those times to continue but also progress. It was a bond that wasn't just about showing him around new parts of the castle like the Covered Bridge, the Great Lake, or the Quidditch Pitch. It wasn't just about showing him new things in the wizarding world like quidditch and flying and fancy dances. It was about building her knowledge of him, her trust of him. It was building that bond that she so dearly wanted him with him - but was also afraid.
So on the bridge she took what she thought was the perfect moment to help that bond strengthen. Sunrise, dates to the dance, all seemed too perfect. She had taken a lemon drop and playfully placed it in her mouth, saying if he wanted one, he'd have to come get it.
Just like he was quick to start learning flying there at Hogwarts and begin testing his quidditch skills, he picked up on what she was saying and kissed her. She was the one who was trying to lure him in and yet when his lips touched hers, she didn't realize how much she wouldn't expect it.
So then she did what she did so well in situations like this - and she complicated it. She quickly tried to defend her actions and then found a quick escape, apologizing for having disrupted his morning's sleep.
That had been days ago, and luckily the two were able to mend that bond they had and bring it right back up to where it was. So much mending that they now had brought it back full circle once more with another kiss, this time he was initiating it.
This time she wouldn't stammer, she wouldn't doubt herself, and she wouldn't make him feel awful. His lips came to hers and he could probably feel her draw in a short quick breath from being surprised but then she smiled. The smile interrupted the kiss, but only for a quick moment and then she brought her lips to move across his, her other hand coming to his waist. This time she'd remain there and wouldn't run off.

The first kiss ruined everything. Sure, it was really good, but Alina seemed to be holding some heavy baggage back then because of those secrets, she ran away and their relationship crumbled. Now that there were no secrets between them, he tried to see whether his theory would work.
Long story short, it worked like a charm. Their lips touched and neither one of them seemed sad or upset about it. Sure, Alina was a bit taken aback by the sudden action because she didn't expect it, but that didn't mean she didn't like it.
She looked at him and smiled. To his dismay, the kiss was interrupted but as quickly as she stopped, she started again.
He loved the kiss and wouldn't have it any other way. He brought his arms around her waist as he continued to kiss her.
He was pretty sure nothing was gonna be powerful enough to interrupt this. He got two kisses from the same girl in just one week Three, if you count the peck on the cheek she gave him. He was very impressed with himself.
After meeting Alina, a whole new side of him began to materialize. He was bolder, nicer and better behaved. She brought out the best in him.He said before kissing her again."Thanks... for everything"

When their kiss slowed to an end, she opened her eyes to see his bright blue ones looking to her and she could feel herself growing warm inside - and probably a bit red across her cheeks. There was just something about that handsome face of his. Alina reached up to gently rest her hand upon the side of it as she just kept her gaze connected with his for another moment.
"Found you," she whispered playfully - hinting at their game of hide and seek there in the Ballroom that never officially got started. The seeker started but the hider didn't hide and she was glad of that. This was a better form of hide and seek than she had played before and maybe in some ways, it was another version of the game. He wasn't going to hide from her and she didn't need to seek him out - as she was right there in front of him. No more running off.
She slipped her hand into his and brought him over to the piano bench where the two sat down. "I'm glad that I didn't ruin things between us before," she told him truthfully. It had been on her mind. A lot. She had worried it might. "And it looks like we're back to much more than okay," and that was where she wanted to be with him. She still wasn't sure what his thoughts were on what they were, but she figured that could come in time.
