After meeting him and spending a short time with him, Alina found herself growing quite fond of Aemadall Zarcovich who liked to go by Logan and luckily so since his first name was rather a difficult one to pronounce. Together they learned an introduction of quidditch, ventured to the Great Lake, made plans to attend the upcoming dance together, and went to the Wooden Bridge to see the sunrise...but that's where it seemed to settle on shaky ground.
A kiss complicated things within a moment and she fled, only to have it be on her mind the entire day through. She had sent him an owl, trying to apologize or at least see if all things were okay and his response stated that they were still going to the dance. She decided that next morning, instead of having one of the fellow Gryffindors wake him early, to find him at the Gryffindor Table within the Great Hall.
The Hufflepuff got some curious glances as she made her way over to their table and when Logan caught glance of her she smiled softly. "Can we talk?" she whispered to him, and tucked some hair in front of her face behind her ear, still feeling a little nervous about this.
She then stepped back towards the wall of the large room where the two could be granted a sort of privacy, at least more than with all his housemates right in earshot. "So umm...thanks for the letter. I do want to still go to the dance," and her eyes found his as she grew a little more confident.
"I didn't mean to complicate things. If you want friendship I can do friendship. I just....I'm coming off a pretty bad breakup from last year and I guess I miss that connection with someone and you... you don't remind me a bit of him. Does that make sense? I'm glad you don't because then I can see you for you," and not compare the two, not have him resemble anything of Clifton Troublefield. While it wasn't his fault, Clifton Troublefield had broken her heart and taken a piece of her with him, never to return.
"I feel comfortable with you and I feel a connection and I just....wanted it to be more. More than friendship but I don't have to be THAT girl that's so desperate for it. I really can. If you just want a friend I can be a friend." She shouldn't have rushed there to be anything more. "I just misread things between us..." and thought there was more.

That feeling when you want something really bad and then you get it and it screws up everything else. Logan had that feeling after what happened on the bridge, Logan could even taste joy anymore. Every meal he had that was once glorious, was now tasting like nothing. All the beautiful colors turn black and white. Everything felt cold. He even went near the fireplace and it didn't do a thing.
He got a letter from Alina about apologies since they were still going to the fall dance. When Alina approached him now, his heart turn to lead and his tongue to sandpaper. He felt like someone just punched him in the gut. She said she broke up with someone last year, that made him wondering if he was just rebound.
"I just misread things between us"That was all he could utter. He didn't know whether to feel angry, sad, worried, happy or confused. I turned away from Alina and said,"Yeah"Truth be told, he used to have a crush on Alina. But strangely, at the bridge, it just died. Instead of going forward, their relationship went one step back."You don't have to dance with me if you don't want to. We both know that's gonna be complicated""Sorry for kissing you. I was an idiot. I wanted to be more... But now I'll just settle for friends"

"It doesn't have to be complicated. I'm a very good dancer and if you need any help at all I can show you some of the basic steps. It's fun, trust me," she watched him carefully.
What these two needed was more communication between them. Yes, learning quidditch was fun as was exploring the Grounds of Hogwarts with him but they needed to talk more and not let their possible language barriers get in the way. He seemed to know a lot of the Queen's English, as did she, but it certainly wasn't her native tongue.
"But Logan?" she tilted her head as she watched him. "If...If I wanted it to be more and you wanted it to be more, what's the problem?" she asked him. Plus, even if it was the boy's first official kiss, it had been a rather nice one so that wasn't something he needed to worry about. "I mean, is it just silly that we're still here just talking about friends?"
A girl would be foolish not to find him attractive but it was more than just his appearance which was a strong build and a mature edge to him. It was his liking of Nordic mythology and enthusiasm to try something new that also caught her eye. It was the way he listened to her when she spoke and gave her his attention instead of doing so halfheartedly.

Logan was happy to know he didn't screw up his life. He couldn't live with himself knowing he hurt her. He still couldn't stop thinking if he was just rebound and Alina's ex boyfriend would come back and complicated things.He gave Alina the warmest smile he could pull off. He wanted to go to the dance, but going with Alina made it a whole lot better. The color slowly started to return to his life. When Alina ran away on the bridge, it seemed like she ran away with his happiness. But now, she was giving it back. He remembered she said she was a good dancer and she would be willing to teach him how to dance. He really wasn't sure how Hogwarts students were supposed to dance. It would be totally embarrassing for all parties involved if he messed up dancing with Alina."I would love our relationship if it was something more. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable with the kiss. I kinda just work on impulse all the time."He really wanted to make this dance with Alina enjoyable for her. He didn't want her to be embarrassed for dancing with a clutz. He had watched a lot of fantasy movies and they made waltzing look easy. He had tried to copy them multiple times and he always tripped."You know how to waltz? I don't know how to waltz. You seem very skilled in wizard traditions. Being someone who grew up around wizards. I, on the other hand, was told about the wizarding world when I was ten.""I'm rubbish at dancing. Will you teach me? If you can't, that's okay too."

“I most certainly will teach you,” she smiled to him. “And I must hold a conceited moment and say that you’ve got a rather fabulous teacher. I know all the old fancy dances. I had to learn them growing up with my governesses and my father olds frequent charity galas at the house.”
She smiled, happy to be both back to good terms with Logan, back to going with him for the dance, and back to hanging him as someone close in her life.
“I’m not quite sure why but I can see you picking it up just as quickly as you did quidditch. You’re a natural learner. You could have been in Ravenclaw.”
She could see that, even if she didn’t have good luck with Ravenclaws. “I’m rather glad you’re not in Ravenclaw though. I had a pretty bad experience with a couple of them last year.”
It landed her in the hospital wing over night. “I ordered my dress already for the dance. Last years dance I went to last minute and was very under-dressed in a sweater and skirt but this year I’ve got a dress.” It was white, rather fancy, and sparkles when she walked. She was excited to get all dressed up in it and see it.

It felt good to be back on track as per his relationship with Alina. They went from strangers to close friends in just a couple days. He was happy about that. According to her, she was from a wealthy family who were viewed as socialites. That totally blew Logan's mind. He was talking to a wealthy socialite who probably lived on an island or in a massive castle. Logan grinned as he said,Of course, she sounded like a princess. She walked around in flowing gowns, she was pretty, smart and nice to people and she came from a wealthy family."So I guess you're good at talking to rich people and hobnobbing with the cream of society. You sound like a princess."He looked at her and said,"I guess since you're a princess. That makes me the average stable boy who fell in love with the princess at the ball. Since there's a real ball happening, that sounds right."He smiled at her and put his hand on hers. He liked the fact they were friends but now that he knew that Alina had an ex boyfriend, he fought back the urge to ask about it. It felt wrong so he slipped his hand back and looked down. He didn't want to push his luck."Judging by your standards, anything you picked would have been the right choice"
