After classes, it was nice to get a break from the school. Paisley would walk down to the courtyards in her bit of spare time, watching the students weave in and out of the grounds.
Today, however, was different. Today was the day when she was going to brave the unknown and walk out into the Hogwarts grounds instead of the courtyards.
It really wasn't a big accomplishment, especially because she wasn't afraid to do it. She walked onto the grounds with humor in her eyes, her head up tall. She had been on the grounds before, just not at this time.
She felt rather silly at being proud of herself for breaking routine. It was something she often did, but today it felt strange. A lot of things were strange at Hogwarts. She had come to accept the fact that she would leave a different person from which she had started.
Paisley found a nice spot on a hill to settle, somewhere near the Great Lake, but still far enough away it was small on the horizon, along with a few dark storm clouds, which loomed threateningly.
She took a book out of her bag. It was an interesting muggle book. She didn't understand what was going on very well, but it was different from the other books she had read. It played out like a movie in her mind. Most other books were all about learning things, and that was when they got boring. She didn't want a book to teach her things, she wanted to learn from experience. The only books Paisley had evre read in muggle school were textbooks, so she had never really understood why people loved to read so muhc.
She was so lost in thought as she read she didn't notice a single other student as they walked passed. If someone were to come up to her now and strike up a conversation, she would surely leap 5 feet off of the ground in fright, because all of her sense and mind were zoomed in on the book in front of her.
"I have to read more," she muttered to herself. "That's a first,"
Paisley was so distracted by her reading she didn't notice when it grew significantly darker, and storm clouds threatened overhead. It hadn't started to rain yet, but it would soon, no doubt.
Great... she thought. Just wonderful. she looked up, her eyes needing a moment to adjust.

Mindi sat in the Ravenclaw common room on a large, comfy armchair besides a bookshelf. She was engrossed in a fictional story about a wizard and a witch who were siblings, but were separated at birth. The book was thrilling and exciting. It had many descriptive words and detailed pictures, and Mindi couldn’t put it down. You could tell she would bring the novel everywhere - the pages were ripped and the spine was tattered, but that gave it character, in Mindi’s eyes.
A large figure approached her and looked over her. Mindi slowly tore her eyes away from the page she was reading and was surprised to the the smile of a friendly Ravenclaw.
“You’ve been reading that book for ages,” she said, with a little chuckle afterwards.
“Erm....I guess......,” Mindi replied softly, shy as always.
“Why don’t you go outside? Have some fun before you’re too old.” The tall Ravenclaw playfully snatched the book from Mindi’s hands and tucked it in her pocket. “I’ll give it back to you once you go outside.”
Mindi stood up and quickly hurried away. She could feel the girl’s eyes still glaring at her. Once Mindi got outside she looked up to see grey storm clouds forming.
”Looks like I won’t be out for long,” she said to herself. Wrapping her robe around her, she paced around the grounds, kicking up dust as she did so.
Then Mindi felt a splash of water hit her nose. ”It’s about to rain.....”. Mindi rushed inside, however, she wasn’t very athletic. She tripped, and fell on top of a girl making her way back into the castle.
“Oh- I’m s-sorry,” Mindi stammered as she fumbled for words. “L-let me help you up.”
At the end of each rainbow there is a pot of gold. You must work hard to find that gold. But that gold will only be there if you BELIEVE it is there.

"It's alright," said Paisley, even though she was startled. She stood up from the ground and brushed herself off. She watched the horizon for a moment longer. She often stared out into the distance during a conversation, it was one of her favorite things to do. She wasn't sure why, but it made her calm inside.
"It'll rain today, I hope. I love the rain." said Paisley, looking up at the sky. She squinted into the vast distance, and could already make out a few raindrops falling nearby.
"It won't be long."

Paisley often did this when it was about to rain. She would mention it so many times surely even the rain knew it had to come. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't. Either way was fine, Paisley just liked reporting the weather. It was something that she had always found fun in.

"Sorry, I've forgotten to introduce myself. I'm Paisley, in Gryffindor. Nice to meet you-" she paused, waiting for the girl to put in her name. She used her finger to bookmark her book, and put it at her side.

"Do you know any good spells yet? I do, but I don't like doing them without the textbook near me. It's super scary, you know?" she asked.
