Secret No More? PV Henry Finished

October 2nd
Miranda exited the castle at a brisk walk, her gaze roving across the grounds as she searched for a place to sit. Compared to days when it was sunnier, not many people were out and about, but there were enough to make choosing a quiet place a challenge. Even from her spot in the relatively clear area of the path, she could still hear murmured conversation that were carried by the wind. Not that a bit of noise bothered her all that much, but stopping to chat with some strangers, or even having a stranger stop to chat with her wasn't really one of her priorities at the moment. Miranda was more focused on finishing up an essay she'd begun writing on the foundation of Hogwarts for her a History of Magic class. It wasn't due for a couple of days, but Miranda wasn't one to chance cutting it too close, not if she could help it.

Finally she settled on a spot near the trunk of an old oak tree that stood alone on a small hill. It was far enough out of the way that most people wouldn't pass too close by as they walked, unless for some reason they wanted to range out around the edge of the castle grounds. And for the sake of getting her essay done early, she hoped they didn't.

With a sigh, Miranda collapsed onto the yellowing grass, setting her book on the ground as she flipped it open to the introduction page, where she'd tucked her essay page for safekeeping. A moment later, she flipped her pencil around so the point was facing down, and had begun to study the words she'd already written so they were fresh in her mind while she continued. Eventually, the rest of the world simply faded away from her awareness as she worked.

Henry just exited the castle as the afternoon sun shined down on his face and temporarily blinded him before he shielded his eyes with his right hand and walk through the grounds in search of a spot. Fall was rolling around which mean chilly day as well and less time spent outside which wasn't the best news but also if Henry remembered then there was also the fall ball coming up which would be a perfect event to ask Miranda Everest to. Since they were dating in secret for around a month now and the ball would be a perfect place to officially announce that they were together but sadly Henry sort of forgotten about the ball with most of his thoughts preoccupied on his hidden life and family.

Anyway speaking of Miranda, Henry saw her sitting innately spot doing homework so Henry approach her as he spoke " hey mind if I join you?" Henry waited for her replie before taking a seat next to her and placing his messager type bag next to himself, he already finished all his homework but he was so much of a geek that he was doing some extra reading to get ahead in their history of magic class as he took a book from his bag and started to read it. If he however did remember the ball then maybe he would have ask her to it because the second year slytherin would have much preferred to go with her.

Miranda was in the middle of writing about the rivalry between Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw when she suddenly realized someone was making their way in her direction. Her head snapped up just in time to see Henry before he spoke up, asking if she was okay with him joining her.

"Not at all," she replied, scooting over to make more room. "I'm just working on an essay for a History of Magic. Even if it's not due for a few days." The Ravenclaw smiled slightly at her paper, then flipped a page over in the book and glanced up at her, well, boyfriend. She still wasn't used to that term, so she stuttered over it even in her thoughts. Weird.

She peered over at the book Henry had pulled out, and was amused to see that it too was about magical history. A coincidence, it would seem, but an entertaining one, at least in her mind. Miranda often seemed to find seemingly simplistic chances like that as funny, no matter how common or random others seemed to see it.

"So what have you been up to lately?" Miranda asked, looking up from the book. She was trying to remember things of note to talk about, and not doing so well, but with school having only been on for little over a month, it was really to be expected.
@Henry Knight don't worry about it!

When Miranda said she was working on a essay, Henry looked over and saw that it the one that he already finished in his time of isolation. Henry the smile as he spoke " funny thing is I already finished that, if you need help I will be happy to imply," Henry smiled and lightly brushed his shoulder against hers which for some reason felt different now that he was dating her. As they sat in silence for a while, Henry started to read his book as he turned his page slowly and slowly got more and more into his book which was surprising interesting to the strange and geeky second year.

Henry then heard Miranda speak again, this time about what he has been up to and the boy saved his page before looking at Miranda and thinking hard as she already knew about his hidden family and life he spoke " not much, thinking about my hidden family and life, hanging out with friends, and doing work," Henry then briefly remembered some things going on with the school and spoke " isn't there a ball or dance happening in the fall with three other schools?" If Henry paid attention then he would have asked Miranda to the dance something he wanted to do but must have forgotten with everything else going on.

Miranda was about to reply to Henry's offer, but she faltered for a moment when they brushed shoulders. However, it only took her a few more seconds before she was able to speak again, though even that time felt interminably long. "I think I understand it, so I'm pretty good." Miranda was hesitant to accept help on her own assigned work, mostly because she then felt guilty afterwards. What was the use of knowing so many things when you constantly had to rely on others? She would feel like she hadn't earned her grade, no matter how good or bad it ended up being. "But thanks for the offer," Miranda continued, her smile, which had temporarily slipped away, returning.

"A...dance?"
she hesitated, looking strangely torn. Her first thoughts were how she'd not noticed that such a large event was coming, but those was quickly replaced by more musings. Technically, Henry was her boyfriend, although that wasn't supposed to be common knowledge...so what if they went to the dance together? She opened her mouth to suggest it, then snapped it shut again. While normally not so nervous, Miranda felt as if butterflies were flying around her stomach - which, come to think of it, was quite a weird phrase. It felt more like a bundle of stone in the bottom of her gut, weighing her down and generally making her distracted.

But she'd never been one to hide from something she was scared of (unless there was a significant amount of danger involved and nothing to gain, in which case she'd be gone). "Um, so Henry, I was wondering...well, would you like to do to the dance with me?"

Henry heard Miranda say that she was good and didn't need help so Henry just nodded " no problem, I'm always here if you need me through," not recognizing his words Henry then went back to his book as he turned his page and was pulled into each more and more, as the time went and the breeze picked up this twelve year old didn't notice since he was too into his book, he didn't even noticed when Miranda spoke and it was until the second time that Henry snapped his book shut and for the first time not caring about losing his page as he spoke to Miranda " the dance? You want to go together? I mean yes, of course I want to go with you Miranda."

Henry then saw reasons to panic as he placed his book back inside his messager type bag before looking at Miranda and beginning his rambling " like as friends or a couple? Are we coming out to the others that were officially dating now? Because I'm all for it don't get me wrong and it's still a yes, I would love to go with you Miranda," Henry then took a breather as he thought about his brother and a few things he said about dating which made Henry say " I'm still new to do this but shouldn't I have ask you? Not that I care or anything, I just want to do this right for you. But anyway it's a yes, it's a date yes. Uh I guess I'll meet you at the great hall - no, outside the ravenclaw common room an hour before the ball, uh dance starts. Does that make sense? Is that normal?"

When Henry agreed, Miranda couldn't help a joyful smile overtaking her features, and it refused to disappear even as she fought to restrain it at least slightly. Although she felt a bit annoyed by that fact, it was greatly overshadowed by her happiness. That had gone much better than she'd hoped, because for all her attempts to look on the positive side, she couldn't help her thoughts, which naturally tried to map every possible outcome, from straying to negativity. This led Miranda to having increased worries that she would've liked.

"I was thinking of going as a, um, couple," Miranda replied, fiddling with the corner of her essay page idly as she talked. Her cheeks were slowly turning a bright shade of scarlet that Henry would no doubt notice, but she could do nothing about.

However, her embarrassment was temporarily abated as she smiled again in response to Henry's words. It seemed he was just as unsure as she was, which made her feel a bit better. "I don't think it really matters," Miranda said in response to his first question. After all, the end result was the same either way, it would seem, so why worry about it? What's done was done. "And outside the common room sounds good, if that's alright with you."

She still looked quite embarrassed, but also incredibly joyful as well. Now that the majority of conversation, or at least the most awkward bits, had been taken out of the equation, the ravenclaw student began to feel much more comfortable.

When Miranda said she asked him because she wanted to go as a couple that made the twelve year old smile from ear to ear as his heart started to pound and his head was throbbing, he couldn't believe it. He was beyond happy, more like escalated ever since Miranda agreed to be his girlfriend but now they get to tell others, they get to go somewhere as a couple, officially. Now the thought made the twelve year old smile yes but also worry, as his normal anxiety took over and he started to imagine every way that it could go wrong and how he would messed it. During these thoughts he plainly just nodded to Miranda when she spoke again as his thoughts kept him from concentrating on her for a few minutes.

When he finally had his thoughts under control, Henry heard Miranda speak again before saying himself " that great with me, yeah ok. Uh it's a date then," date, a word that Henry was still getting use to along with this factor of dating and how to do it right. But once the boy moved past that, that was when he saw not that big of a problem but his anxiety worried him as he thought about what he would wear and how he would mess up the date just because of his outfit. He skipped out on the secret blossom ball last year so he still had no idea what he was going to do or what he was going to wear at the dance.

"Yes, it's a date," Miranda agreed, smiling tentatively. Like many of the other parts of having a boyfriend, the words used sometimes seemed unfamiliar to her. She wasn't used to so many things, but that worry didn't do a thing to tone down her excitement. No more secrets, it would seem. No more worrying over whether other people knew, or whether people were eavesdropping on their conversations. Well, that last one would still be a concern in some places, just not as big of one.

She'd heard what had happened at the Blossom Ball during her first year, which was a cause to worry, but Miranda believed that the professors wouldn't let something so disastrous happen a second time...right? It seemed best not to think about it, because otherwise she might end up loosing the will to go, and that would probably be even worse in the long term, especially after things had worked out so well after she asked Henry.

"So...I'll meet you then?" Miranda asked, tucking her pages back inside her book in preparation to leave. Her essay wasn't quite done, but she could always work on it at a later date - she had plenty of time, after all.

When Henry heard the word date he could help but feel a bit nerves as his anxiety started to spiral over his head and everything that could go wrong was fresh in his mind as it push out any other thought, the second year thought his mind was going to explode or he was going to have a meltdown both would be extremely awful but after a couple minutes of dealing with his anxiety and getting a handle on his panic attack, Henry was finally calm enough to speak " yep, I guess it's a date. I can't wait for it uh-" the boy could feel himself saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing as he abruptly stopped talking and tried to rethink his words before speaking again.

However when Miranda spoke again, that only caused his worry to grow as he ran a hand through his hair when a million thoughts filled his head and begun to spiral, what was going on? Why am I acting weird, why is this weird? Miranda is my closest friend, my uh girlfriend so then why do I feel weird or nauseous? Just relax, it's nothing... is it? Henry was still worrying and his anxiety was getting worse but he spoke " see you then to."
