Stick Substitute

It had been a massive relief for Lizzie to wake up knowing her wand was safe. However, that didn't last for long. Just a few days after the whole event in the forest, the girl had gone and lost it again. This time it was gone for good. It was probably lying around in some office waiting for a student to pick it up. All it meant was she was going to fail her practical exams and that wasn’t really a big deal to the grade A student.
She had been sitting in the Courtyard minding her own business admiring her wand when it was taken out of her hands by a large gust of wind and fell into the fountain. Lizzie had not been pleased. The girl was trying to figure out a way that she could get it out of the water without getting herself wet. She did not like having to get her hands dirty and that included water getting everywhere. While contemplating the situation, she had found herself walking towards the Common Room for no reason at all. Her legs had taken in the opposite direction of where she had actually wanted to be. She ran like a mad man to get back to the courtyard, unfortunately the girl had gotten to the steps of the Ravenclaw Tower which was quite a while away. Lizzie was panting a lot and had lost all of her breath but as she slowed down, she realized the wand could no longer be seen in the water. What a stupid dumb thing to do. It would probably be going to be lying in some head of houses office waiting for someone to pick it up. However, Lizzie isn't that smart and did not think of that so she just went to the Entrance Hall and moaned for a few hours before going to her Common Room to sleep.
A day later, just like any other warm sunny day, the girl could be found down at the grounds of the Castle skipping around and picking up whatever she could find, occasionally, bringing out her penny-whistle to play a tune or two. To any other student she would seem like as a crazy old bat. However, she was not old and she was also not crazy but her personality could match with a bat pretty well.
Lizzie quickly looked back to the castle and sighed. She had homework she needed to do but what use was it when she didn't even have a wand to be able to do the practical sides? It would be utter rubbish. It wasn't like Lizzie did her homework anyway even when she did have a wand. She was normally found outside the classrooms with rolls of parchment balanced on her arms and a quill in her mouth rushing to finish the essay in time.
The girl shook the bad thoughts of homework out of her mind and sat down on the grass. She looked towards the forest while scrunching her eyebrows up. She did not like that forest and probably would never go in it again. Unless the opportunity hit where she could show her classmates she was stronger than they thought she was, she had been one of the first to 'die'.
Her nerves were starting to get the better of her again as her hand started pulling grass strands out and throwing them around her. It would be no surprise if she woke up with grass in her hair the next morning. Just the sight of the forest made her feel sick in the stomach. Lizzie shook her head slightly and shifted her body around so her back was facing the wretched place.
Lizzie needed to think of a plan. A plan that could fool the other students and professors enough to get to the end of the year so she could get a new wand in the summer. However, knowing the amount of wisdom most of the professors had they would take one look at the girl and tut ever so slightly. They would probably see right through her plan.
"Uhh.. Come on. I can't go to class without a wand!" She said grabbing a bunch of grass and chucking it in front of her. It wasn't a successful throw at all since grass does not work like that. The laws of gravity and science would not change for just one person because they were 'sad'; "Can't just one thing go right for me!" She shouted standing up in anger.
She started storming off back up to the castle when she heard a big crack below her foot. Lizzie lifted her right foot to reveal a stick that was snapped in half. The girl widened her eyes and fell to the ground. What a good idea that was. To take a stick into classes and pretend it is a wand. She could use the excuse that her traumatic experience in the forest had faltered her magic causing spells not to work.
Lizzie grinned and stood up quickly while bending over looking for the perfect stick to use. It needed to look at least a little bit real for the students not to try and snitch on her. She picked up one and examined it. The stick was too long, too thin and definitely not a wand substitute. She went through stick after stick trying to find on that would be just right.
Sighing once again, her eyes landed on one. It was a good length and was neither too fat or too thin. It was the best one she had found yet. It would either be take it or risk the chance of being kicked out of school for having no wand. She closed her eyes and went for the grab. It fit perfectly in her hand just like her wand had when she actually had it in her possession. She grinned again and opened one eye; "This will have to do."
