Echoing Footsteps
Paisley had no doubt about it. She was lost. Utterly, utterly, lost.
She didn't even think she could find a bright side in this particular instance. It seemed as if every painting on the wall, every student that passed by, every little stone on the ground were unfamiliar. Nothing looked the same than it had when she first explored the castle.
After walking in a complete circle, although she swore she had been going only forwards, and she had never turned her feet, the thought of giving up crossed her mind.
I can't give up! I just need a map... she thought. She tried to make one in her mind, careful to remember landmarks. She backtracked a little bit, but that didn't work. She came back to her center point.
Paisley turned around, thinking that if she looked the other way, she might get a better sense of direction. Nope. It only confused her more.
Since wandering aimlessly wasn't working, Paisley decided it would be best to hug a tree, although there wasn't a tree in sight. Not even a window to tell her if she was near the quidditch pitch or the greenhouses. Looking at all of the students around her, which were nearly as tall as trees, she couldn't see a single first year. Or, in fact, a second year!
No one her age, or anywhere close to her age, was walking by. All of the students looked older and more mature than she was.
Suddenly, the stress of going to Hogwarts settled in on her. She was in the youngest year at Hogwarts. They didn't get a map, directions, anything. They were just told the rules and how to behave. How had the other first years done it? Were there some first years, still wandering, who slowly aged and eventually found their way back? Did prefects wander the halls at night so that they could find lost students?
Feeling hopeless, she felt tears threaten her eyes. No way am I crying now! she pushed down all feelings of dread and turned them into feelings of determination. She would find a way out of this maze.
She wiped her eyes and gave a quick sniff, ready to find a way out. She was Paisley Brown, she could do anything.
Turning her back to the crowd of older students, Paisley stared off into the next hall. All she had to do was start walking.

Leonard believed in the concept of equality.
There were many reasons he believed in this concept. First, it was scientifically proven to be correct. It wasn't just some line in a bearded poet's parchment, it was real. Second, it was just plain old fun to abuse such concepts.
Abuse was something of a misnomer. Of course, he didn't go around adjusting entire buildings to be equal and causing them to collapse, as his limited architectural knowledge would surely do. But he did use it to justify his actions, actions that he was very much not proud of doing. Sort of. The actions were like ice cream. If you did it too much, it ended up losing the taste of thrill, excitement. At least, as much excitement and thrill one could have out of picking on any unfortunate soul of his liking. But when you had it at the right time, the right flavour, it was something to be savoured for the rest of the week.
Enter the brunette he'd been eyeing after sifting through his targets. He'd been enough nice for today, it was time to keep his reputation up. The reputation of a two-faced coin, as he liked to call it. Silver in tongue, double-dealing, and afraid of losing its value. He didn't quite like the last part as much as the others.
"Oi," he said, putting on a smile fake as one could do. "You do know classes won't magically teleport to wherever you are, yeah? If you're good enough to go to this school, you'd think you'd be smart enough to know North and South."
He was back in the game, the best game of them all, manipulation and bullying.

Liz had a bit of free time. She decided to use it to explore the castle. Pausing to look out the window she examined the grounds outside. She had never been to this part of the castle before. However she was not worried about getting lost. She knew she could always ask someone for help finding her way back if she were to get lost. Although the only other people around seemed to be upperclassmen. Her hair was pulled up into a ponytail and her robes looked freshly washed.Interacting with: @Leonard Oaksworth & @Paisley Brown
Her ears picked up a certain conversation that seemed to be happening nearby. Turning her head to look she spotted a Brunette female and another brown-haired male. "Oi," he said, putting on a smile fake as one could do. "You do know classes won't magically teleport to wherever you are, yeah? If you're good enough to go to this school, you'd think you'd be smart enough to know North and South." The girl appeared to be lost and the male didn't seem to be there to help.
Liz tapped a finger to her chin and thought about going over. She glanced back out the window and sighed before walking over to the two. She let out a small smile. "I couldn't help but over hear your comments. I'm Elizabeth. Elizabeth Isaacs. Pure-blood. And you two are?" she asked. She examined the two. The male was adorned with green robes, so a fellow Slytherin. The female was wearing red robes, so she must be a Gryffindor.
Not sure whether she wanted to help the girl or the male, she decided to get more information about the situation. Although she was leaning more towards the males side, since she did quite enjoy bullying other houses. Especially stupid Gryffindors.
Be careful who you trust. Salt and Sugar look the same.

"Oi"
Paisley was brought from her long reverie when she heard a voice behind her. She turned around, immediately becoming disoriented again. She had to remind herself of where she was, or where she thought she was, before she could focus on what was in front of her.
There stood a Slytherin boy, who was older than her, no doubt. At least someone had come to talk to her. Maybe she wouldn't be lost forever. The thought brought hope into Paisley, but it was crashed back down again at the Slytherin's mocking.
You do know classes won't magically teleport to wherever you are, yeah? If you're good enough to go to this school, you'd think you'd be smart enough to know North and South."
"I-I" she stuttered. Pull yourself together, Brown! She scolded herself. This was no time to stutter. She was dealing with her first older student, and it was a Slytherin! She had to be on her feet for this. Of course I know North and South. North is-" she stopped short. She had no idea where she was. North could be anywhere. Uhm-well-" she was thankful when another voice stopped her speaking, and hopefully bringing the attention off of her confusion.
Another girl, who looked around the same age as Paisley, approached. She was much shorter than the other Slytherin, and she reached only to Paisley's shoulder. Her hair was a light blond color, pulled up into a ponytail.
I couldn't help but over hear your comments. I'm Elizabeth. Elizabeth Isaacs. Pure-blood. And you two are?" Paisley paused for a moment. She didn't understand why, at this school, everyone was so caught up in blood types. In the end, they were all still human.
Because of the young Gryffindor's family, she got the best of both worlds. her father being a muggle but her mother being a witch was one of Paisley's favorite things about herself, because she was able to use muggle gadgets (A television, for example, although due to a bad experience with one she had to be supervised) while also, in time, learn to cast and use spells.
"I'm Paisley Brown. Half-blood, although I don't see why it matters." Paisley added the last part in under her breath, hopefully not loud enough for the other students to hear.
"I'm lost, too, although I don't suppose you two will help me find my way to any classroom, or room, or even hallway that I know of. I'll just be stuck here, wandering the halls until a Gryffindor comes and finds me."she said this calmly, as if it were as casual as stating the weather. Over her short amount of time at Hogwarts, Paisley had developed a biased over anything with a green crest related to snakes. They were just too...sneaky. Every time she saw a Slytherin she thought they looked as if they were up to something. She steered clear of them, although it was hard when they shared classes.
Perhaps these Slytherins would change her mind. Or, perhaps they would only make her prejudice worse.

Leonard was slightly surprised to see another green-robed girl joining the conversation. Hopefully she wouldn't be one of the goody-two shoes type to immediately run over to an authority figure and get them all in trouble, though with her introduction, he was fairly certain she would be swayed by him soon enough. Pureblood Slytherins were the equivalent of royalty in Hogwarts, and while Leonard didn't care much about parentage, he did care about not getting caught and having someone on his side. Who better to help him than a person who upon first impression cared enough about their so-called purity of blood to have it be their defining feature? Pompous creatures, those like her were, according to experience. Cold and ambitious, enhanced by the emerald tie and snake emblem.
"Well, Brown," he said, stepping closer and smiling wider. "North, on a compass, would be opposite of south. You know was south is, don't you? I mean, I probably shouldn't assume, considering you still aren't able to finish your definition of North. Oh, and I'm a half-blood as well. But, surprisingly, I know how to navigate both this school and muggle directions. Impressive, isn't it? Name's Leonard Oaksworth. Ever heard of me?"
"In all seriousness, I'm surprised you were able to go this long without finding anything. I know the stairs move, but I am fully certain the floors don't. At the very least, you would've found a door by now. How about you try going to another floor instead of just wandering around here? Or do I have to explain to you how to go up and down staircases as well?"
It was refreshing, in a sense, to finally have a chance to use his skills of wordplay on someone. Ever since his other victim had secluded to the walls of Merlin dormitory, he hadn't any chance to be, in said victim's words, a complete and utter jerk. But that changed today. Perhaps even accompanied by a new pureblood ally. Oh, what fun.
