PV Maestro and Ballerina Knight Finished

It took just a few minutes before the door opened again and Henry rushed in. "Well, hello maestro. It's really good to see you," Carolyn smiled at her friend. He seemed a little out of breath. Nevertheless, he was here clutching his violin case and giving excuses for ditching his class. "I see, thank you for telling me," she nodded in understanding. "And don't worry; I'm not here to judge you. If it helps you I suppose it's okay once in a while. I actually do the exact opposite," she decided to share something as well. "Since things got difficult for me during summer as well, I tend to work twice as hard." Which by her standards meant torture yourself to pure exhaustion so she couldn't think or feel anything. probably not very healthy approach. "It makes me focus on my tasks and forget everything else... So if you ditch too many classes and have trouble catching up, let me know," she offered with a soft smile. Other than that however, Carolyn didn’t want to dive any deeper into the topic. She wasn’t quite ready to talk about her troubles in detail but she liked to share the little bits here and there and Henry made it possible by doing the same. Carolyn would never speak out otherwise. I found myself a good friend.

"what if I play you some music while you stretch, ballerina?" The ballerina, as he called her, smiled. “I would love that, maestro.” She chuckled, letting the boy pull out his beautiful violin. “It’s beautiful,” she shared her thoughts aloud while thoroughly stretching her legs and back on the floor. She always started stretching on the floor…it was easier than anything that came after. Eventually, she stood up and tied up her hair. Now came the harder part. She carefully tapped her pointe shoes on the floor to make sure they fit properly. Then she walked on demi point and did some roll-throughs. Starting at first position, pushing her arch all the way up and then switched her feet. Carolyn always make sure she was comfortable in her shoes before starting to do the fancy stuff. Once she was happy with the result, she proceeded with a more difficult steps and eventually added some Attitudes, Arabesques and pirouettes. Those were probably much more fun to watch then the simple stretching she did before.

The whole process was much more enjoyable with music and Henry played wonderfully. When she could feel the sweat forming on her forehead, she finally allowed herself to rest. “There, all warmed up. Thank you for a beautiful musical accompaniment,” she said sincerely. "Would you like to play something special for me? Your favorite music or perhaps a song you would like to see me dance to?” She asked curiously. The young witch wanted to hear more.

" any requests, ballerina?" Carolyn thought about it for a moment but she wasn’t sure. There were many songs she liked but it was hard to just say something and assume Henry would know the song. Thankfully, the boy himself soon remembered a song that he wanted to share with her. “Okay, go ahead,” she nodded excitedly. The melody that started was oddly familiar to her. Did I hear this before? She contemplated momentarily. Henry was definitely skillful with the instrument but it seemed like he was struggling a little bit. Not with the music but with his own feelings. It appeared that he must have had conflicting emotions about the song since he looked almost angry at the beginning of it. Still, if he didn’t like it, he probably wouldn’t suggest playing it and soon enough, it showed. He has regained his composure and kept on playing as if nothing happened.

Carolyn contemplated whether she should try contemporary ballet even though she wasn’t very used to it. The song definitely had an energy for it but then she thought Henry probably had enough anger for now. It seemed like he could use something more soothing. Therefore, she focused on the softer undertones of the song instead and used all her elegance to float all over the room. She also made sure to keep eye contact with Henry from time to time or offer a gesture in his direction. She wanted to show him that he wasn’t just a background music for her. If she wanted that, she could have played her gramophone record. No. They were a team and she wanted him to feel included. He was no machine but a fellow artist, who was part of the act.

About halfway through the song, Carolyn did her final gesture in Henry’s direction indicating she was done. She was still a junior and even prima ballerinas weren’t strong enough to dance a four minute solo. She had done couple stage performances and she was a main character in some of them but even during the performance, you had a break in between your parts. She did let Henry finish though and when he did, she made sure to applaud his skill. “That was amazing. You are really talented,” she praised him sincerely.

Henry finished his song and they both exchanged a well-earned praise for their skills. Carolyn smiled gratefully. “Thank you; I can do more technical stuff as well of course. All the jumps and turns we might need to win but I can focus on that later. Once we have the music,” she explained. It didn’t make sense for her to exhaust herself right at the beginning. Not to mention her toes would suffer twice as long if she did. She was used to that by now yet it didn’t stop her from being uncomfortable or getting hurt from time to time.

"Right so now that we both seen what the other could do, we should chose a song so that we can both practiced with it." The boy himself agreed. It was not as easy as it sounded though. It was hard to choose a song when you didn’t know what the musician’s repertoire was. “Well, you might have to give me some idea of what you can play. I mean, I suppose you could do most anything if you had the notes but alas, the internet is not here so we can’t be too choosy. I can tell you what wouldn’t work though,” Carolyn offered thoughtfully. “Obviously any metal music is out of question...unless perhaps a symphonic metal…like Within temptation or Nightwish?” She wasn’t sure her friend even knew those bands. Clearly, he had some knowledge of the muggle music but to what extent, she couldn’t be sure. “Although even those might need some adjustments…It's hard to tell. I never heard a violin version of their songs.” That much was true. She listened to music quite often but it never crossed her mind to look for violin covers of metal music specifically. “Alternatively, extremely slow paced songs wouldn’t be good either. Just because of the jumps or faster turns. It wouldn’t look good. Slow is fine…just not too slow.” What else… Carolyn was trying her best to figure out some guidelines. “Does anything come to mind for you?”

"what's the internet?" Carolyn paused for a minute. She assumed that Henry was from a pure blood family but since he carried around an old muggle camera, she also thought he might have had some insight to that part of muggle world. “Oh sorry,” she said sheepishly while listening to her friend’s explanation. It appeared their circumstances were quite similar. “Actually, the same happened to my mother. Although to be fair, she left willingly. We lived as a proper part of the muggle world since I was born so I know how most of the stuff works.” She offered some inside information as well. She also didn’t know the rest of the Hunts until this summer and she wished it stayed that way. Unfortunately, wishing for things did not make them come true. “Well…maybe let me explain a little? I don’t know how well though…It is quite complex.” Carolyn paused for a moment to think about it. “Do you know what computer is? The Internet is a network…or system that connects millions of computers worldwide. Almost every muggle has one unless they are poor. The internet was one of the greatest inventions of the 1900s. Information on the Web is arranged in sites or pages…I guess it’s a bit like an electronic library of various information. People also create Web sites using a special computer language where they place the information.” She didn’t think it would do good to go into too many details on that one. “This way, people can view Web sites on the computer. They often use it as a part of their schoolwork or job. They can look for information on it or they can also use it for entertainment. You can find music and art there, play games and you can even shop from home, using the shopping sites. Then there are various social networking sites help muggles communicate with friends. Like I said…it’s very complex. I suppose if you ever come to visit, I can show you?” The young Ravenclaw suggested. She imagined it would be quite interesting experience for the boy.

After that, Carolyn gave Henry time to process all the information. "uh, what about something like nightwish?" She perked up when her friend spoke up again. „Do you know their music? How?“ She asked curiously, though it was probably possible he could have heard them. He was not stuck in bubble after all. You didn’t need to know what internet was in order to know muggle music. „Can you play something from them?“
