'Let today be the start of a brand new adventure'

From a young age, life seemed to be running smoothly bar a few minor mishaps along the way like was present in any young youth as they learn and adapt to the ways of their society and area of which they are being raised and it was no different for the young brunette female that was Orianna Jayne Lightfoot. Being raised in a rural part of England on a working dairy farm, the young girls day to day life mainly included going to the local primary school before heading home to spend some time with the countless animals and her parents on the farm before attending to her homework.. well that was as normal as her life had been up until the summer she would turn eleven years old.

For you see, just a few months before Orianna was due to celebrate her birthday the most peculiar thing would happen in her life she would receive a letter.. but who from? The young girl didn't know anybody well enough outside of her family ties to get a letter from anyone and so initially both the girl and her beloved parents would place it down to some sort of misunderstanding all until they would break the reddened wax seal on the back of the addressed envelope the truth finally being revealed and sense being made because well what most people didn't know from just merely looking at the family was that Orianna happened to be adopted.

The letter itself had come from a school that people referred to as Hogwarts, a magical school someplace within the united kingdom inviting her to attend the school to learn about magic and the life of a member of the wizarding world but what did that mean? Was Orianna not your average pre-teen... clearly not. However, also attached to the invitation were two things a boarding ticket for the train the Hogwarts Express that was due to depart from platform 9 & 3/4 on September 1st at precisely 11 am sharp as well as a full item list that she was needing to secure before her entry to the school for her first year of studies including directions to the shopping district of London that specialises in those of magical properties.

Arranging with her parents a shopping trip, the family would decide to take a week-long holiday to London the week before Ori would depart for school for their annual holiday to make things easier such as travel and so for the next couple of months the family spent all the time possible together before they were due to travel. Leaving on the 25th of August just before dinner time Orianna alongside her parents would spend the next six hours travelling to London via train arriving at Victoria Station in the early evening before checking into the hotel located in Pimlico before heading to the theatre district to catch a show and something to eat starting their holiday off in style.

The next few days swiftly passed by with trips to the zoo, the Tower of London and many other well-known attractions but nothing could take the excitement and edge off their visit to Diagon Alley after a meal in the Leaky Cauldron, purchasing all of her needed supplies for the school year including clothing, books and equipment the highlight being the wand selection at the famed shop known as Ollivanders.. the family soon had to call it a night ready for the day they had been so eager to happen Orianna's departure to Hogwarts.

Dressing in a black pair of leggings, a long cream shaded t-shirt and her favourite pair of converse high-top styled shoes the young girl tied her long brown hair up into a loose ponytail leaving the hotel with her family for their last evening meal together to which they had booked a table at the hard rock cafe in the Soho area of London, the night almost drifting by like some kind of dream the family spent hours talking about next to nothing as their holiday drew to a close before heading back to the hotel for their last night in London.

September 1st, 2020.

The sun shining brightly through the window above the bed, Orianna would awaken with a smile on her face as the nerves began to set in knowing that today was the day her new life would begin, jumping out of bed the young girl would wash and change herself into the robes she would be needing to wear upon her arrival to the school her freshly washed hair curled around her face with a few hair ties on her wrist for later usage before the whole family would sit for one last breakfast together in the hotel for the immediate future leaving shortly after her trunk and the family suitcases are fully packed and checked over.

Getting a taxi soon after Orianna would arrive at Kings Cross Station and alongside her family struggle to find their way around not that the workers were much help but luckily they had set off with plenty of time to spare just in case this had happened. Finally finding their way onto the platform after observing others the three ran through the wall between platforms 9 and 10 arriving on the correct platform just seconds later. Tears welling in their eyes they would spend their last few moments together with the train in the distance before Ori's father would help her with her trunk onto the train passing it to the correct worker who was sorting out the students and staffs luggage on board the train.

Checking the time and realising that it was almost time to depart, Orianna would give both of her parents one final giant hug as she stepped onto the large red train waving goodbye to them both with a smile not wanting to show her nervousness with being away from home for the very first time. Saying their final farewell, Orianna turned on the balls of her heels heading off into the train her parents falling out of sight completely as she searches for an empty compartment to take a seat ready for the departing journey to begin.

But how will her new life fair at Hogwarts? And what adventure does this new life have in store for her? All she knew was that she was ready to face anything as the door to an empty compartment is finally located and swung ajar the young brunette heading inside finding her seat as a loud booming whistle is heard throughout the train as it slowly starts pulling away from the platform the journey to Hogwarts starting that instant.

Edna's life had always had a little bit of magic in it. Her father worked for the Ministry of Magic after all! So, when it came time for Edna to go to Hogwarts, it was no surprise for her. The girl excitedly packed her bags and waited. After all- this was her new life! A magical life! Growing up in Edinburgh surrounded by muggles had been rough on the girl. She could never talk about her actual self. Sure, her mother was a muggle, but she knew about magic! Her friends at school could never know. Which was difficult because Edna adored talking. So, she lived a life in which she always held herself back.

No more!

As Edna stood before Kings Cross Station, the girl was brimming with excitement. Her mother had elected to stay behind in Edinburgh. She wasn't one for all this magic nonsense, as she put it. Her mother was supportive, she just- did her best not to have to handle too much magic herself. Even going through the wall between platforms 9 and 10 might have made her dizzy or nauseous. So, Edna's father was the one to run her through the wall- which was quite fun! Edna stood on her luggage cart as her father pushed her forward. She pointed forward to adventure!

After her luggage was all handled and she goodbye to her father, Edna hopped up onto the train. Quite literally she hopped with excitement. The girl was giddy! Her new life was beginning! Maybe she'd make a friend on the train ride over! As she looked for a place to sit, Edna found another girl who looked around her age. She grinned widely. The girl adjusted her bright orange cardigan and blue jean trousers before approaching her.

“Hello! Are ya lookin' fer a place ta sit? Wo'ld ya mind if ah sat 'ere wit' ya?” she asked, her smile wide and full of excitement. Edna would hold her hand out to greet the girl with a shake, “Ahm Edna! Ahma firs' ye'r!”

As the train pulled away from the station and the journey finally began the students both new and old began chattering loudly throughout the train as they caught up on the happenings of each others summer or so the young brunette thought anyway as she looked out of the window she was sat beside watching the mass amount of fields pass the coach by as she smiled she leans forward routing through the depths of her packed bag for some of the treats that her parents had purchased for the long journey ahead unsure what to expect throughout the day but ready to enjoy the train journey into starting her new life and adventure.

Settling herself down Orianna would place her feet out ahead of her as she placed countless bags of crisps, sweets and her two sandwiches down on the seat beside her ready to enjoy something to eat after getting out the supplies that she would need for passing the time on the journey ahead such as a few books that she would be using throughout the school year ahead as her mother had often said that there was no time like the present to get yourself ahead by reading up on a few details to get you a little more acquainted with what was to come for the young girl.

Hearing the door swing open to the apartment that the young girl was currently seated in alone, Orianna gazed across in the direction of the entryway noticing a small red-haired not much taller in height than Ori herself and with a smile and a polite nod of greeting as she watched the young girl enter the compartment dressed in an orange shaded cardigan and blue jean like trousers she couldn't help but notice just how giddy on her feet the girl seemed to be constantly moving energetically with a large warm grin on her face, clearly Orianna wasn't the only one who was excited to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that year.

But then again how could you not be excited? After all throughout her life so far all that Orianna had known was normality and country life not realising how much she had actually longed for some kind of adventure and magic in her life until the moment she learnt the truth that her biological parents were of wizarding decent meaning she was a witch and to top it all off as much as she loved her now adoptive parents being alone and on her own, for the very first time, Orianna couldn't help but feel a sense of independence that most her own age back home could have never described and planned to do. Yes, She knew that she would be returning home throughout her first year of study during the holiday seasons but being alone and independent at a magical boarding school was a story she could never share with the people she knew briefly back home bar her family.

Distracted in her own thoughts for a second as the young girl chewed nervously but excitedly on her lower lip soon enough she was brought back to reality at the sound of the girl's broad Scottish accent who had made her way into the compartment as she asked Orianna if she could sit with her before introducing herself as Edna, another first-year student and with a smile, Orianna nodded in the redhead's direction "Sure, Feel free to take a seat it's a free world after all and I don't expect any company... Oh, I'm Orianna by the way also a first year student" she agreed moving her things to let the girl sit down after all, all friendships start with a simple meeting gesture and who knows what friendship they may develop along their adventure into Hogwarts.
