Back to School Pranks and Mistakes

AfternoonPiérre loved Diagon Alley... There was so much to see, buy, and do. This year He had been so good over the summer (not a single spell had left his yew wand since the execution of the Periculum spell in order to break up a fight), that Mathilda was finally sways by Piérre (and a little additional help from Romeo, who intelligently added his own thoughts and comments). It was mostly a basis of trust at this point, and Maddie made it painfully clear that if Piérre didn't behave himself, there would be hell to pay when Maddie learned of it.
Well, what she doesn't know doesn't hurt her, right?
Piérre heard the tiny voice sigh, and then he smiled giddily. He had already made his stops at Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes, having bought both a Fake permission form to Hogsmeade and a Marauder's Map. Both of them would serve the young troublemaker in the years to come, especially if he wanted to make a name for himself that could rival the ginger twins themselves. Eventually, when he would scrap together enough dough, he would claim for himself an Invisibility Cloak. A Moontrimmer, a Fake Permission Form, a Marauder's Map, and soon an Invisibility Cloak... what more could Piérre ask for?
Piérre passed by Flourish and Blotts, noticing embossed covers and fancy pages. Perhaps some books? Yeah, books could be good. Besides, Piérre wanted to prep for his third year Divination, getting a head start on his schoolwork that he would inevitably procrastinate upon.
Mind made up, Piérre gently opened the door, listening to the welcoming chime as he walked in. The scent of aged books and musty papers was surprisingly pleasant, and despite himself, Piérre smiled. He could understand why his brother was so fond of this shop; it was nice, quiet, and had people who had similar interests to you milling about in subjects and topics you enjoyed. In any other words, it was a good place to meet and make friends and allies in mischief or otherwise.
Humming as he strode among the bookshelves, Piérre ran his fingertips along the magical books, feeling the ever-present pulse of sentient books. Some of them he had paged through, some of them he had let be, as in the Monster Book of Monsters. Small, yet long, fingers pried away a Divination book about Xylomancy. Though the subject was oft considered dark, Piérre didn't understand why. Certainly anything could be used for good, if you had the courage to use it in that way. This was no different, and so the lad eagerly began to thumb through the pages, gleaning small tips and tricks about the concentration and the materials needed for a reading.
Closing the book after a bit, Piérre tucked the text into his satchel before moving on, looking for more of a fun book for him to read. Something to keep him entertained, something to perhaps teach him something that he didn't know before. A title caught his green eye and Piérre yanked out the blue-bound book. Jiggery Pokery and Hocus Pocus...
Hocus Pocus, and prank book, huh? Why didn't you say so sooner?
The Britalia's nose was in its bound pages in less than a second, eagerly scanning and devouring the contents of the pages, snapping mental photographs of the images and instructions for brewing joke potions, joke charms and hexes, brushing off the harlequined mistake without so much as a stumble or stutter... Things that Piérre had learned from a young age, figured out all on his own... Immortalized in this book.
Despite himself, Piérre found himself withdrawing his polished white wand, his loyal Yew and Snallygaster Heartstring, swish-flicking it silently without recital of any charm. There was a hum in his chest and a lightness that he couldn't quite place, yet, he knew what it was supposed to be. It was unbridled excitement. He wanted to give a prank a test run.
Flicking his wand and sticking his tongue out, Piérre was about to annunciate the spell of his choice in his thick Italian tongue, but then stopped just as the words were about part his lips. He had just remembered the Trace, the mark which inevitably laid upon every magical child until it would be lifted on their seventeenth birthday. Oh how Piérre was exhilarated for that day... but that day was not today, and if Maddie found out he was practicing joke spells, things would only go south.
So, the lad went with the more direct route. Time to make a mess of things!
What could he use to prank someone with... what could he use to scare someone wi_
The Monster Book of Monsters.
Choking back a snap of laughter, Piérre snagged the bound book, doing his best to calm the thing by running a finger down its spine. At first, it attempted to snap at his fingers, attempting to eat the one who held it, but eventually it succumbed to the gentle, monotonous strokes of a gentle fingertip and began to act almost like a dog getting a bellyrub, tiny grunts and everything!
"Okay, okay..." Piérre whispered, his voice choking up as emerald eyes glittered like twin jewels. "Okay, so you'll get a nice little spine massage and then when I let you go, you do your thing, okay?" Piérre talked the Book through its mission; Chaos and Kerfuffle.
Taking up his position behind a bookshelf, out of sight from windows or the main aisle, Piérre continued to pet the book, waiting and listening for steps and light treads of any individual that would come close. No sooner had the Jester taken the seat, the light, gentle treads of what Piérre suspected to be a woman began to draw close. With a grin spreading on his features and his pointed ears piquing and then flattening with excitement, Piérre leapt out from his hiding place, opening the book's fanged mouth towards the unsuspecting prank victim and letting out a loud shout. "AAAAAAGGGGHHH!!! IT'S COMING TO EEEAAAATTTT YOUUUUUU!!!"
