Ability Poll!
I think if your character's go-to spells are attacking spells, you should go for DADA ability. But if she prefers defensive spells, Charms ability sounds like the more reasonable choice.
For your reference, the spells you may get if applying DADA:
Year 2
Blindfolding Spell • Obscuro
Tongue-Tying Spell • Mimblewimble
Disarming Charm • Expelliarmus
Bluebell Flames • Caeruleus Inflamarae
Year 3
Boggart-Banishing Spell • Riddikulus
Revulsion Jinx • Relashio
Snake Summons Spell • Serpensortia
Snake-Vanishing Spell • Vipera Evanesca
Full Body-Bind Curse • Petrificus Totalus
The spells you may get if applying for Charms:
Year 2
General Counter-Spell • Finite Incantatem
Freezing Charm • Immobulus
Revealing Charm • Revelio
Illegibility Charm • Illegibilus
Slowing Charm • Arresto Momentum
Year 3
Bandaging Charm • Ferula
Wind Jinx • Ventus
Wand-Lighting Charm Duo • Lumos Duo
Radiant Wand-Lighting Charm • Lumos Maxima
Each option will give you 9 spells, so in terms of quantity, both abilities are equal.
Hope this helps.

Ability Poll!
To continue what Elizabeth said, if and when you decide to be a prodigal DADA, for your seventh year you can applied restricted DADA ability. Though it is not a prerequisite to have one after another except if you want to apply restricted DADA ability for your seventh year is you must be in the NEWT level. I hope this help you to decide which one you want the most

Ability Poll!
Hello,
I'm personally not very clear about whether you must have a Prodigal DADA to apply for Restricted DADA in your 6th year/above, or if you need to have a Prodigal Charms to be able to apply for Restricted Charms. (Both Restricted options are indeed available.)
As far as I understand, the Restricted abilities do not require a player to apply for a specific Prodigal; so to my best knowledge, you can apply for Prodigal Charms and Restricted DADA, or vice versa.
Just a personal opinion; this does not (and never was or will be) intended for a personal "you're wrong" attack to anybody.
