The beginning of a friendship

Date: October 28th, 2014
Location: Godric Hollow
Six year old Henry was sliding out of his smallish house in godric hollow to go to the large oak type tree in a field near the town but still far enough from others. Even the Henry was a mere child he still didn't like to talk to others and was quite a shy and anxious child, so he preferred to be alone but still he didn't have any friends to hang out with anyway. His older brother; Arthur was 13 and currently at hogwarts for his third year and both of his parents were at the ministry for the day, hi mum was a auror while his father worked in the beast division of the magical creature department. The couple didn't have enough money to hire their two youngster a sitter, so Henry spent many days alone at their home with his twin sister Annabeth, but today Annabeth being a lot more social then Henry decided to join some other children that came from both muggle and wizarding backgrounds in a few games around the town. Henry however got to anxious when he needed to talk to others and even through he wanted to, he couldn't bring himself to join them as he made his way to the large oak type tree just a bit on the outside of the town where he likes to sit and either read or think.
Henry came to a halt as he started to walk past a destroyed house, godric hollow was homed to many famous wizards and witches; such as Godric Gryffindor and Bathilda Bagshot, just to name a few however most wizards and witches come to the small town to see the destroyed house of the Potters where a sign in front of the house gives a brief history on what happened there. Henry remembered that many would write on the sign, his twin and him included. Henry always did like reading the books and prophets on Harry Potter on either his life or how he defeated you know who. Henry continued his walked past the house and also the stature of the potter's, soon he reach a field that was just on the outside of the town and in the center on a hill stood a large oak type tree.

The small six year old walked underneath the tree and plopped down upon the grass at the base of the tree, his blue jacket looking sort of like a blanket because of how big it is, well it was also his older brother's but he didn't mind the handy me downs as he took off his messager type bag that he was carrying and took a book from the depths of it. The book was on magical creatures as he opened the book to the first page and begun to read, he didn't expect anyone to come for hours so he let the book consume him. As he was to much into his book, he didn't noticed the other figure that was standing above him or would be in any minute.

[font=Book Antiqua]Scarlett didn't understand.
Just a few days ago, her world had spiralled into chaos. Her father had disappeared in the night. Her mother had retreated to her room. In a few days, what had her family become?
Broken. That was the word.
It was too much for the six-year-old to bear, even with her aunt Fiona to guide her through the tricky times. So here she was - dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, ready to take her anger and frustration out on the innocent oak tree, near the famous statue of the Potter family that attracted so much attention and Bathilda Bagshot's old, destroyed house. The woman had written Scarlett's least favourite textbook.
Scarlett slipped out of the villa. People in Godric's Hollow didn't like her or her family much, due to the fact that their house had been custom-built, was pretty massive and was far away from the town square with all the 'common folk'. This had been entirely her mother's fault, as it was tradition that when a Fulton got married, a manor was constructed for them. Her father hated the idea of moving from Godric's Hollow, and so the compromise was made - a large, manor-like house would be built in Godric's Hollow, but far away enough so that it could feel stately and private.
Scarlett really hated it. It never felt like home. Just an immaculate palace that she was too scared to mess up and touch.
The thing was, home is where you feel comfortable. A home where you don't feel like that is just a house (or a manor).
Scarlett started to walk over to the massive oak-tree. Fiona had suggested climbing it could release some of her pent-up emotions. Pass the statue and the ruined house...and there it was.
Eagerly, she scrambled up the hill, only to find a boy already sitting there, looking quite comfortable with his book. His hair was brown and his blue jacket was too big for him. She decided she would approach him. Maybe she would make her first friend.
Thoughts of climbing forgotten, Scarlett cleared her throat and hurriedly said, "Oh, er, hi there. I'm Scarlett. Scarlett Aden. Scarlet Evelyn Aden. How about you? Do you live here? What are you reading? Sorry if I'm speaking too fast. Er - um..."

"Oh, er, hi there. I'm Scarlett. Scarlett Aden. Scarlet Evelyn Aden. How about you? Do you live here? What are you reading? Sorry if I'm speaking too fast. Er - um..." Henry heard a voice say and he would have jumped if he was standing but thankfully he wasn't as he looked up from his book to spot a small girl with red hair, who seemed to be around his age and who was also talking to him. Henry placed his book on the ground and stood up as he looked around to be sure that she was talking to him since no one has been spoken to him before, he wasn't even sure he could speak since he never had to do it because mostly is parents or brother's would do it for the 6 year old but anyway Henry looked at the girl and recognized the name. She was a part of the wizarding family; the Aden's who is mother talked about a lot but Henry never understood why, but still Henry didn't care about that or how either of them were raised. He was happy because this might be his chance to make his first friend as he spoke and strutted " I'm Henry, uh Henry Knight. I live j.. just over t... there," Henry pointed a tiny figure to the village in godric hollow that was by the potter's house and a bit cut off from the rest, as he continued " D..do you live here? M.. my book is about m... magical creatures. You can r..r..read it if you like?" Henry still couldn't really say R's yet so he took a breath then continued " Your not s... speaking too fast. Uh your family is the w.. wizard family of A.. Aden, r...r...r..right? My family is wizard, to." Henry still didn't get the concept of the stature of secretly, yet as he continue " uh, it's n..nice to meet you Scarlett. Want to hang out f..for a b..bit?"

The boy - he looked her age - seemed nice enough. He honestly looked quite surprised as Scarlett quickly spouted out a few sentences. Scarlett was kind of nervous. She was a shy little child, and hadn't yet become the more courageous Gryffindor she would soon be when she was older. That day would come soon enough anyway.
The boy placed his book on the ground. Scarlett tried to sneak a peak of the cover, see what he was reading, but she didn't manage it. The boy stood up and looked around - a bit nervously to be completely honest. He seemed slightly perplexed like he wanted to know if Scarlett was actually talking to him. Well, yes, she was. Eventually, the boy seemed to recognise her as Scarlett Aden, the daughter of that snobby aristocrat Evelyn Fulton, who the townspeople at Godric's Hollow had not heard from in months.
She listened to what he had to say, mentally making a list of everything in case she needed to know in the future. His name was Henry Knight (thank Merlin - no more 'the boy') and he lived in a small house in the main village in Godric's Hollow. It looked a bit cut off from the rest of the houses, and was pretty near the statue of the Potters.
"Yes," said Scarlett, as he finished his small ramble, stuttering quite a bit. Her voice was slightly clipped, and the tone was quite high and almost dainty. The way she said it sounded extremely posh. After all, her mother had always been urging her to talk like that her whole life. At Hogwarts, her voice and manner of speech would generally grow more 'normal' but her words would always be a little bit clipped. "I do live here. And, um, no thanks."
It was cool that the book was about Care of Magical Creatures. Phoenixes and thestrals had always been of great interest to the small girl, but she had never actually considered studying them thoroughly. And anyway, after the events of when her mother Evelyn tried to force down tons of Charms work on Scarlett, so that she might grow into an 'intelligent young lady' Scarlett had had enough books for a lifetime.
"Yes, I'm an Aden, and a Fulton," sighed Scarlett. She really wished she wasn't from either of those families. The Fultons were way too snobby in Scarlett's opinion, and the Adens...well, if her father was an Aden, Scarlett didn't want to be one. Her aunt was alright though. "Oh, and sure, we could hang out."
Scarlett shrugged, looking quite indifferent, but really, she was incredibly excited. Her first friend! How wonderful.
"So what do you want to do?" asked Scarlett, enthusiasm leaking into her words.

The beginning of a friendship
Henry got a bit excited when she said that they could hang out, the six year old never hung out with anyone before or had any friends for that matter. So Henry was behind escalated as he had a wide grin on his face, his first friend that was what was going though the child's mind as he was a bit dumbfounded on what to say or did next. Henry never played with the other children before because of his shyness and also because of his stutter, the others would tease him for it so Henry just stayed by himself for most of the day but here he was now with his first friend, something that Henry didn't think would be possible.
Henry scanned the field to get some sort of idea on what the two could do but couldn't come up with anything, as Henry thought of what to say he did however had a better vocabulary for a six year old since his mother worked with him often on his stutter and while his stutter only improved slightly, he got better at vocabulary which helped with reading to. Henry never giving up with coming up with an idea, spoke to Scarlett " I d..don't r..r..really know what t..to do. No one w..wanted to hang out w..with me before so t..this is new t..to me a bit." Henry gave the girl an innocent smile before speaking again " what do you like t..to do f..for fun?" Henry thought doing something she like was a good way to hang out with a friend before he spoke again " you d..don't mind m...my stutter, r..r..r..right? Are you g..going to t..tease me for i..it?"

Scarlett thought Henry was quite over-reacting when she said they could hang out. Excitement and happiness were practically radiating off the poor kid. His mouth stretched into a wide grin and the atmosphere seemed more eager, the sun shining brighter, life suddenly looking more hopeful. Scarlett's true nature was probably starting to show - not a bad nature, just one that was more quick to judge. She was still the generally shy girl from Godric's Hollow - and she still hadn't evolved into the bold, constantly fighting girl she would be in a year or so. But sometimes, Scarlett felt like she didn't want to be shy, she didn't want to be stage-frightened. She wanted to be an Aden, her true self. But the timid, over-ruling part inside of her didn't let her change.
The only times when her dormant Gryffindor personality leeked out were usually in times when it was portrayed in the most negative of lights. The redhead was indeed quick to judge, and judging Henry at this very moment, her dark-brown eyes scanning him to see if he were a worthy friend. She had agreed to hanging out with him and was really very happy about her first friend. She just needed to see if she could trust him. After all, her father had abandoned her. She hoped her newfound friend Henry wouldn't either.
Eventually, since Scarlett was only six and wasn't decidedly patient, she stopped inspecting him to answer his question with a wide, gap-toothed grin.
"Sorry about that," said Scarlett. "I - I just had to make sure you were nice and not a bully. My auntie taught me about bullies. She said I should ignore them. And my mummy...well-"
She stopped, deciding not to tell the boy about her personal life anymore. Friends needed trust in each other, and sometimes that trust came from knowing that your friend was keeping something from you for the greater good.
"Anyway, I think we should climb the tree!" said Scarlett, eyes wide in excitement, so different from the seemingly calculated kid she was a few moments ago. "It'll be super fun! C'mon! Let's go!"
Scarlett was already off, using her scuffed trainers to scale the tree and grasp at branches. She managed to haul herself onto the first branch, which was thankfully incredibly thick. The tree was good for climbing - sturdy and strong. It was pretty massive as well.
"What are you waiting for?" the redhead said, swinging her legs round so they dangled off the branch. Just because she was shy didn't mean she didn't like climbing trees. It didn't mean she was afraid. And anyway, her shyness seemed to have disappeared with this Henry boy. She trusted him inexplicably. What could go wrong?
She then realised he had asked her about his stuttering. She shook her head and gave him a crooked smile. "Of course not."

[quote]Henry saw that Scarlett seemed to be staring at him or judging him which made the young boy anxious and panic but when she explain why she did it, Henry took a breath of relief before he spoke " ok, I g..get it. Lots of p...people bully me so I g..get why you would m..make sure at f..first." Henry gave her a small smile as he went back to thinking about something to do, those things he didn't have any experience in so he didn't know what to say but before he knew it Scarlett suggested that they climb a tree before she bounded up the large oak. Henry smiled up at her when she did it since climbing trees was his favorite thing to do and he didn't know that others like to do it either but here he was with someone who like him, liked to climb trees for fun.
Henry heard Scarlett tell to hurry up and Henry dashed toward the tree as he started to climb up it, he graced on to every little beach as he sort of kicked or walked up the trunk as he quite fast made his way to the branch that Scarlett was on and smiled at her as he swung his legs over the branch and giggle a bit. Henry heard Scarlett say that his stutter didn't bother her which made the child even more happier as he turned his head toward her to face her before saying " R..Really? T..thank you, I never m..met anyone who didn't m..mind my s..stutter," Henry the thought for a few minutes before making a child like promise, one that the six year old didn't know but he will soon break that promise in a few years as he spoke " S..Scarlett let's promise to always stays f..friends forever," Henry looked at Scarlett with a six year old hoped and dreams as he continued " I p..promise to always s..stay your friend f..forever, no m..mater what S..Scarlett." Henry smiled at her and hoped that she would promise to but sadly what he didn't know is that he would be the one who would break it soon or that their relationship might not last through their Hogwarts years.

Scarlett felt rather happy, enjoying the day as her legs dangled from the old, large oak tree. Henry - also known as her new best friend - told her that lots of people bullied him so he understood why she was generally quite distrusting, having to check to see if someone was actually trustworthy and wouldn't leave her, abandon her. Her newfound friend dashed towards the sturdy tree as Scarlett told him to hurry up (not in a mean way, of course) and the young boy managed to shimmy up the old oak, grasping on every branch and scrambled up the trunk, more skilled than any child she had ever seen. That wasn't her, obviously.
Henry started to speak - he told her they should promise to be friends forever and ever and ever. Well, the redhead accepted this offer, this promise without a doubt. Henry was a good person and she trusted him enough to even make a vow to be best friends forever on the pair's first meeting.
"And I promise I'll always be your friend as well Henry!" said Scarlett, grinning toothily at her companion on the tree branch.
How utterly miserable, then, in later years, when the two were grown up. They would separate, become bitter and everything just seemed...complicated. But for now, the duo enjoyed a moment of peace as the sun set. Nothing bad was going to happen to them - that was what they thought. Life would be perfect forever. Until the end of time.
"Scarlett!" called a voice. "Scarlett, where are you? It's dinnertime!"
The young redhead jumped in surprise at the voice of her aunt Fiona shattering the moment of serenity. In fact, she was so surprised she fell out of the branch and onto the grass, landing with a soft thump as pain shot through her body.
Her aunt heard the noise and whipped round to Scarlett, lying on the ground. She picked the young girl up, saying, "Scarlett, oh Scarlett, are you alright? Come on, why were you playing here? Are you hurt? I'll get you some supper now darling..."
The girl could only smile at her friend, still in the tree, unnoticed by her rather over-protective aunt as she left him. But there would be plenty of time to bond - months - years.
It was a shame their friendship would be crushed soon enough.SCARLETT ADEN HAS LEFT THE THREADSorry for such a bad reply, I was in a rush and had no inspiration XD

The beginning of a friendship
When Henry heard Scarlet say that she will always be his friend also, the six year old couldn't help but smile as he thought he made his first friend, no made a best friend and the two would always be together till the end of time. Little did the child know that while their friendship will grow and they will become bonded in the years time come, something will happen that will separate the two and put their friendship at danger a year before their Hogwarts year's. Which speaking of Hogwarts, when the two meet again instead of a loving and tearful reunion they will discover a bitter and awkward reunion that may or may not spark a fight between them but that won't happen till a few years and as for Henry well he was no seer so he had no way of knowing this and his mind was only on the fact that he made a best friend and would always stay loyal to her, he thought that he would never leave her and the two would remained friends.
Henry kicked his legs back and front as he watched the sun set and smiled as he sat there next to Scarlett and started to think of all the times the two would share, he then spoke " would you like t..to hang out t..together t..tomorrow Scarlett?" Henry pushed his hair back as he spoke again " I have t..this muggle camera and we could t..take picture t..tomorrow?" Henry got excited as he thought about goofing off with Scarlett while taking pictures but just as the sun set their time also came to a end when Henry heard a woman call for Scarlett.
Scarlett seemed to be startled by her and fall from the tree, Henry looked down with concern at his new friend as he shouted " a..are you okay S..Scarlett?" Henry then watched the lady tale Scarlett away in a overprotective manner as Scarlett waved to him goodbye and Henry quickly waved back with a hug smile just before hearing his own name get called.
" Henry, Henry Knight?" Henry recognized it as his mother's voice as he must have been back from the ministry, Henry quicky scrambled down the tree before picking up his book and running from the tree to his mum who was by the edge of the village. The six year old jumped up and down with a hug smile placed as he spoke " I just m..met my b..best f...friend! S..Scarlett Aden and s..she doesn't m..mine my s..stuttering!" Henry was so excited that he was hoping up and down with a huge smile on his face as his mother grabbed the young boy's hand and spoke " that's lovely dear but you still have to work on your stutter. You can practice your sentences before dinner now, come on." Henry followed after his mother happily when usually he didn't like to do his sentences to improve his stutter today however was different, it was different because the six year old found a friend. A friend that he thought would be his best friend forever, which would be turned the other way in their first year at Hogwarts.
