Welcome BBQ Thread - PV
Falentra had to admit it. The professors had done a good job here. It was obvious that a lot of hard work had gone into these activities they had planned over the Summer Holidays so it would be a shame if she let their effort go unnoticed, even if deep down she was already regretting the decision she was about to make. There was plenty of open tents to venture through and have a nosey at, each one being different from the other. In Falentras case, this was the most relevant and interesting when it comes to keeping ones mind occupied but in all honesty, it was the people around that made her weary on approaching.
The place was absolutely packed! Students were huddled together in groups around the campfire, others running around like wild dogs most likely due to the sugar intake and others were scoffing their faces like pigs. All of which Falentra stared blankly at from a distance. None of which she wanted to venture over to. It was a bad idea and she had yet to take a step forward.
At the time of when the Summer Camp had been announced, Falentra had gathered together the courage and confidence to convince herself into making an effort with people for once. It was true that this year she had actually made some friends or at least people she felt comfortable around, but who was to say she was able to find them in a crowd as big as this or if they even remembered her? God knows... she just knew she wasn't looking forward to it.
Remaining from afar, Falentras mind continued to throw more negativity her way and her facial expressions shown it quite well.
For a change, her hair was under control. By that, it meant her curls hadn't taken over and instead were soft looking and sat sensibly on her shoulders. Her complexion and sharp features, however, had remained the same. Those dark circles below her eyes added to the deathly stares that she unintentionally gave out to those in front of her. That was most likely the reason she didn't have many people approach her. She defiantly looked quite intimidating for a girl.
It wasn't until one of the tents she was eyeing up became free. A group of students had ventured out, leaving the odd few spread out and the opportunity for her to make a move was finally up for grabs. The Slytherin hurried her way over and sat on a large piece of wood that was accompanied by a small table that held a candle in the centre.
If one was to notice her, she could be seen wearing an oversized blacktop that was tucked away in a pair of baggy, ripped blue jeans. The material was thin, and smooth like silk much unlike the coat that accompanied her. It was made of sued and ended just above her knees. She looked fairly cosey and somewhat fashionable for someone who doesn't care too much for their appearance.
What felt like hours, were minutes that slowly passed by as the girl sat there on her own, the awkwardness starting to take its place as she knew the lonesome wasn't common on this evening. Everyone she saw had someone with them. Whether they were laughing with joy, or just sitting silently together. It would seem the few interactions she had made during her Third-Year had made her weak- or so she thought. Deep down, she had begun to crave a little company.
Her fingers would be held outward towards the candle, catching the melted wax that fell to her skin. It somewhat cured the boredom she was starting to feel creep its way towards her.

Arjan excused himself from his present company, grabbing a plateful of food at his earliest convenience. A couple of large burgers sat on his plate. It was a lot easier to sit and eat so he looked for a suitable location to do so. An attractive dark-haired girl caught his eye, sitting alone by a small table. He had dressed in a red t-shirt and a pair of buttermilk coloured cargo shorts, donning a pair of flip flips. As far as casual went, he had actually succeeded in achieving that look. It was rare for him to be so casual looking but it seemed far more appropriate for the occasion - and weather - than his Durmstrang uniform.
She had beautiful hair that sat very neatly on her shoulders. Though Arjan was, by no means, an expert on ladies fashion, he did notice that she looked rather well dressed. Not posh or overly fancy but even in her casual state, it was still appealing to the eyes. Perhaps a nice of wealth, though it could have also just been someone who spent time in their appearance or had a good sense of fashion. The girl seemed rather lonely though. He could not work out if she was simply shy or disliked by everyone.
Mostly because he wanted somewhere to sit - and most tables looked occupied by loud people - he decided to approach her instead. At the very least, she was unlikely to be loud and annoying. If anything, his approach was more likely to scare her off. But only time would tell. Donning the most civil and polite smile he could muster up, "Good evening, Miss. My name's Arjan Oberoi," Many purebloods opted to harp on about the fact that they were the firstborn son of the long line of purebloods or whatever. Arjan did not bother. His name would either speak for itself or it did not matter. That was his logic. At least here, at an event that was not necessarily a gathering in which he needed to mingle and network, "Would you mind if I joined you?" He greeted her as he motioned towards the empty space on the log next to her, holding a plate of food - and clearly requiring use of the table.
OOC: Apologies for the huge delay in replying x.x I also realise this is pretty short but just wanted to get something up instead of making you wait longer!

Her fingers remained beneath the candle allowing a the buildup of wax to drip from her finger and onto the table. She would have spent the rest of the evening amused by such a little act if it wasn’t for the sound of a boy to suddenly interrupt. It startled her. A jolt would come from the Slytherin and her eyes shot up towards him, naturally giving him a glare for causing her to show such a weak action. “Jesus mate.” She followed up quickly and brought her finger back, playing awkwardly with the wax on her finger. Hopefully he hadn’t been watching her for too long. Playing with wax, now that she thought of it looked kind of weird. And to top it off she jumped at the sound of him. How pathetic must he have already thought of her. She wanted to roll her eyes and groan in embarrassment but her attention was too drawn on studying the boy.
Listening carefully, she would continue to hold her stare, observing the boys outfit more than on what he was actually saying. Never had she seen such clothes before, and come to think of it the boy either. Surely he wasn’t from Hogwarts. She wanted to ask, but it seemed he had already brought a question to attention first.
“You wanna...sit with us?” Her brow raised as she would quickly look around at her peers. They were irritating.. their giddy attitudes and loud screeches were unnecessary. Maybe he wanted to avoid them as much as her, hence wanting to sit with her.
Quickly, she would follow up rather than making the boy wait any longer. “Sure. Just hope you aren’t a gobshite like the rest of these.” The Slytherin nodded in the direction of those around them before taking another glance at him now that he sat beside her. He had a lot of food on one plate. Was he planning on eating all of that in one sitting?
If she was to speak again, her words were to be no better. Her choices always backfired in some way. In all honestly, Falentra thought speaking her mind and being honest wasn’t a bad thing, but people nowadays were so sensitive on hearing the truth. She wondered if he was the same. Though she couldn’t tell yet, he did give off a look of confidence.
“Falentra Black.” She would finally respond to the initial question, not really knowing of his last name, unlike her own which many automatically assume her a relation of the famous Blacks.
Her posture would make the effort in straightening and slightly turning to face him so she didn’t seem as rude with her actions like she did with her words. What was she to say to him now though. Was she to leave the confident lad to eat in peace or was she meant to make some sort of effort in return? Of course her amazing quick-thinking skills led her to attempt at in making a conversation. “That’s a hell of a lot of food ya got there.”

The girl was a little odd, it would appear. Of course, he was making a snap judgement about someone who had not even said a word but she was playing with wax in the middle of a barbecue for... no reason. Maybe this was a weird thing that Hogwarts took part in. She snapped out of it as though she had been truly engrossed in the act.
Arjan was quickly questioning his choice. She was pretty, that much was for sure but she seemed to be quite a weirdo. Was it really that shocking that he would want to sit with her? Did no one normally sit with her? She was quickly painting herself out to be an outcast of some sort. Though, just as quickly, she earned herself some brownie points. He could not help but smirk at her next words - insulting the group of students around that... ugh.
"Same, back at ya," He sat down, joining the girl, looking over the crowd, "Are they always like this?" He asked, scanning the crowd of noisy annoying kids. Most of them were probably around the same age as him, in fairness. But he definitely considered them kids compared to himself. He was, of course, very mature and wise for his age - even if he did say so himself.
He quirked an eyebrow at her name. Black. Well then. Of course, he would recognise the famous Blacks, though he did not know of a Falentra Black before today. But who in the United Kingdom could honestly say they did not recognise the Blacks in general? At the very least, a few of them had famous names. It was, after all, a well-known family. "This isn't enough for a growing lad," He retorted, thinking he would actually need to help himself to another plate of food. He really ought to have gotten more. After all, he burned away far too much energy when exercising. He needed food. But since he was networking, "Though, I don't mind sharing if you want some?" He would offer her. There was no harm in being somewhat pleasant to her, at least until he could figure out enough information about her to see if she was useful to him.
"Do you attend Hogwarts then?" He asked, given her comment about the rest of the group. He presumed that the answer was yes but it was always safer to check than to assume. It could have been a swift judgement, like his own, but he did not recognise her as someone from his own school so it did narrow it down. Most people at this gathering appeared to be from Hogwarts, after all. Though, he had met someone from that American school earlier.

She saw that look he was giving her and knew it all too well. A look of judgement. to sit with her or not sit with her. Would it affect his reputation or something? And was she really that eerier and uncomfortable to be around? She had heard rumours of such. Not that she was all to bothered with what he decided. She just wanted him to pick quick so she could move on and go back to her own thoughts.
A quick change in the boy would show as he decided to sit beside her seconds later. Was that his way of agreeing on her opinion of her fellow peers? It seemed so. ''Uhuh. Always.'' She replied with a hint of annoyance in her voice. Her eyes reverted back to the crowd for a moment then finally deciding making their way back to focus on the boy beside her. Her stare would mimic his own to when he judged her. She herself was trying to make out what she could of Arjan. She knew already that he projected confidence, maybe a bit egotistical too. So an act of kindness that was to follow had questioned Falentras judgement of him.
''No... thank you.'' She would decline the food he presented to her but offered a small smile in return. ''Seems you need it more than me if that plate still ain't enough for you.'' The Slytherin tried her best to ease up the tension she felt herself giving off. She knew once the tension disappeared she became more quick-witted and somewhat friendlier.
Another question would follow as she watched the boy start to demolish the plate before him. Her brows raised slightly at how he could really eat such a portion. ''I am.'' Her gaze quickly lifted to meet his. ''Fourth year... Slytherin.'' The gaze would hold as she watched for every emotion he would show. If he was to show. ''But I know you aren't from 'ere. Can't be if you had to question on how often these arseholes were irritating.'' A look of disgust instantly spread across her face and her eyes would follow with a dramatic roll. It would soon dissapear and be replaced with a smug-ish smirk that she threw at him. ''So where are you from then?'' Her hand would quickly reach out to steal a few chips off his plate. While most girls would probably nibble at it or cover their mouth shyly whilst they ate, Falentra would toss the whole thing in and munch away whilst she awaited his response. She didn't really care what others thought of her after all.

"Ugh, that's... fun," He responded, the sarcasm strong as his eyes scoured the scenery of loud noisy brats. He definitely got vibes from the girl that she found it equally as annoying as he did. Of course, he was likely one of them when he was actually in the crowd but - of course - he was never annoying. Arjan was perfect, of course. From a distance though - aka, when he was not the centre of attention - it bothered him.
A smirk crossed his lips as he heard her response. She understood him! He was a growing lad, after all. He had to admit that he was partially glad that she did not take any food. Attempting to get through that crowd again to get to the food counter would be rather irritating for him. Of course, he was willing to do it for the pretty girl - mostly because that was what a gentleman did, and because she was pretty. But still. He would definitely prefer not to. It was one of those things where he could be nice and would be nice but if secretly was hoping he did not have to. Therefore, he did not insist on her having any. Instead, he simply nodded and helped himself to a bite of his food. After a moment, "Is this plate really enough for anyone though?" He looked at his biceps for a moment, wondering how anyone could get away with eating less.
To exercise as much as he did, it was very important that ample amounts of food and sleep were required. He needed the energy, after all. Durmstrang instilled discipline in him and Arjan regularly went above and beyond the mandatory exercise to do more in the afternoon. The smirk remained on his lips - perhaps even growing slightly - as she mentioned being a fourth-year and more important, a Slytherin. He was starting his fifth year at the end of the summer, which would put them around the same age if he recalled correctly. And Slytherin? Definitely the only house he cared about at Hogwarts. If he attended the school, nothing less than Slytherin would do, from what he had heard about it. He did not say anything but his expression and composure would likely show that he approved. If anything, he thought she should have said that much more proudly. It was one of the only aspects of Hogwarts that were worthy of pride, in his opinion.
"Durmstrang Institute," Arjan responded proudly, his chest puffing out slightly. It was an incredible school, one to be proud of in his opinion. There was less... mixing and they taught the right things. "Fifth year soon," He added before pausing. He devoured an entire burger by this point before suddenly continuing, "You know... You should be more proud of your house. At least, from what I've heard, Slytherin sounds pretty decent," He said, pretty sure that the house produced some incredible wizards - such as Merlin. It was the house of ambitions, no? The future leaders of the country, in his own opinion.
Besides, it was much better than the one that his sister went to. The softie weakling one. But of course, his sister would fit in there well.
