It was incredibly hard for Rett to find a moment of peace at this camp. At Ilvermorny he knew all the best places to hide to get some moments of quiet contemplative reading or writing done. Two hobbies that he enjoyed immensely. He would never admit it to anyone, but he enjoyed writing creative stories. Weaving intricate stories of far off places that he wish he could reside in besides Georgia and Ilvermorny. As if Hogwarts wasn't mystical enough, as if magic wasn't enough of a fantastical element in his life to derive joy and adventure from. It was a hobby that he didn't tell his parents about. He was worried about them chastising him for not spending enough time on his studies if he had time to write as many stories as he did.

He found himself a bit off from the camp, enough to keep it in view in case he was summoned by a teacher or meal time, but enough away to where someone would have to work to spot him. He was seated at the base of a tree, his back pressed up against it with his knees up supporting a journal that he was viciously scribbling words into. An inkwell sat next to him that he would occasionally dip his quill into while he reread his previous sentences. Sometimes things would be scratched out, sometimes things would be added. It was a process of continuous editing. He never seemed to stop critiquing his own work, striving to be better. If he wasn't poised to take over the family business someday he would want to become a writer, but his destiny was set. So this would always be a hobby.

However, he was spotted. As a familiar girl from his house approached, he would call out to her in a charming southern drawl. "Ms. Caroline, what brings you over to my neck of the woods?" A polite smile. He waited for his last bit of fresh ink to dry before moving the journal's ribbon to his spot and closing it. He couldn't have anyone know about this hobby.

Ever since Carol had arrived at the London Quidditch camp grounds, she had realized how different these foreigners actually were.

One great example is how careless these...students could be. According to some students who attended an odd 'Masquerade Ball' spoke of a terrifying troll attack in the middle of the event.

'Charming.'
She had told those students plainly while continuing her day.

Foreigners.
They must be foreign for good reason anyway.
Life is just simpler that way. If they weren't kept away how else could they be considered foreign?

Enough thinking now.
Maybe a small escape could 'cure' these complicated thoughts for a while. After all, hadn't she seen that Everett boy leave the tent area a while ago?

As she began to trail off the path of tents, Carol made sure to check her cozy sweatshirt pockets for her wand.

Well, not exactly her wand, but still. It was the only wand she was allowed to use.

When Carol had been originally accepted into Ilvermorny, and her father was still prominently shown in her life, he had decided to get little Carol a wand of her very own.

Willow wood, 11.3, and oddly paired with white river monster spine core.
A unique wand for a unique girl her father had said happily.

She hadn't even seen the wand since her grandmother had taken it away, the only wand she even slightly call her own never even seemed to like her.

Sure, the Belindez family wand worked fine, all the 13.5 inches of ebony wood worked just fine with Carol in control. But still, the occasional burnt shoes from Incendio didn't exactly reassure her hopes of it being the perfect wand.

Carol had been daydreaming about wands for her whole stroll, only to be awoken from this state by a kind southern greeting coming from a bright green-eyed boy she knew as the one and only Everett Brooks.

"Just out for some quiet, Brooks. Why would you be out here?"
Caroline replied while walking a bit closer to the boy.

Maybe today wouldn't be so stressful after all..

Everett stood up from his place in this grass, tucking his journal under his left arm. He had grown up being taught intense manners. Not only from a pureblood keeping up appearances standpoint, but it was no secret how polite the south was. Almost painfully so sometimes. It was one of the reasons for his well received reputation, on the surface he was simply courteous. But, get to know him and you find some one a lot more manipulative than that is initially to be seen. The Horned Serpent loved weaving his way in and out of the minds of others. Caroline however, wasn't necessarily one that Everett exactly had a care to investigate.

"Just about the same reason. Those Europeans can get mighty rowdy. I'm not too peachy keen about spending more time around them than I have to." As she came closer he would gesture back towards the soft green grass underneath the sturdy tree as he returned to his spot. "Not exactly sure if I'm glad I came, or if I regret it. I'd much rather be at home right about now." A small laugh bubbled up, "Look at us, representatives of Ilvermorny yet we're trying to get as far away as possible. How are you enjoying your time, Belindez?" Often he tried to mirror the way others would address people, in an attempt to make them feel more comfortable. It was a way for him to show he was paying at least a little bit of attention.
