Summer Fair Meeting (PV)
Summer was in full bloom around William. Small trees around the road swayed in the breeze of the early night. The buzz of passing cars and pedestrian surrounded the boy. Over the towering buildings of London, the sunset colored the sky with swirling purple, orange and red. It kind of reminded him of sunsets in Hogwarts but with a city air heavy around him. They were as much the same as they were different.
He focused back on the road, staring straight ahead unlike a second ago. He had places to be, things that needed to be done, or not. He'd taken the longest road after all. Both his parents were out of country and his nanny insisted he took an evening by himself. The first thing that caught his eyes was a small fair held in one of the park of the city. A little scouting since it had been a long time since he participated in one was all he really expected himself to do.
Some echoes of a soft music echoed trough the half full street. Mostly locals mingled around. He stuffed his hands in his pants pocket, counting every one of his belonging. Just in case. The fair was still pretty far by foot so more people than not gave off sketchy vibes. He pitied a bit every tourist he encountered.
He arrived at a cross road shortly after, still weaving through the thinning crowd. In the few seconds he had to wait, a familiar face caught his attention. The other looked completely lost, not unlike a tourist visiting the city for the first time. William pushed his way to the edge of the sidewalk taking a closer look to the one familiar form.
Taking his chance, William hurried up to the boy as soon as he could safely. With every step he took, he could make out more of the boy, Elsian he finally concluded. He got closer and closer until he could almost touch his friend. Without a second thought, he grabbed the other boy, turning and tugging him toward himself chuckling, "Hey Elsian! You look awfully lost sitting there. Almost pegged you as an american tourist."

@William Dubois
If you asked Elsian an hour ago he'd have told you that yes, he knew where he was going. And it would be true too! That is, if he had stayed in the north side of town.
As of now though, he was horribly, undeniably.....lost.
The worst part was he probably could have found his way back to his uncles by now if he wanted. But the problem with that was he didn't. Not at all, and he'd been tired of looking at the shops when a flyer had caught his eye. A carnival, probably like the one he'd gone to earlier that year and well, he'd had enough fun there with his friend, so surely it wouldn't be that bad by himself. It was in a part of town he didn't really know that well, a park he'd probably only seen once or twice on passing throughout the years but...Well, it beat having to go back early.
Honestly, this wouldn't have even happened if he'd had his phone to look up directions but no- he had to accidentally leave it behind when he came here. Genius move on his part. Truly. He sighed, hand brushing against the pocket of his jeans. At least he'd been smart enough to bring his wallet. Screw what his uncle said, it was always good to have muggle money on hand.
Beating himself up over it wasn't doing any good though. He might as well keep going.
That thought in mind he'd started to walk again, slipping around one of the groups mingling around the sidewalk only to almost yelp in alarm when someone grabbed him. Instinctively he raised his arm to try and push the other away, hand going to the others arm to shove, yell if he had to because he wasn't an idiot thank you very much. Yet found himself stopping short of shoving the other once he realized who it was.
"William?" he breathed, anger dropping into bewilderment. Part of him was relieved to see the other but...
"Y'know, you really have a bad habit of just grabbing people." he snarked, but the small smile on his face betrayed the fact he was poking fun at their first meeting. "You're lucky I didn't have a bag to hit you with."
"but no, no tourist here." he sighed brushing the bangs from his eyes, "but I'm equally if not more so lost than most of them," he admitted.

William was met with anger then questioning as Elsian breathed his name. He was a bit relieved he hadn't been wrong. It would've been both embarrassing and dangerous if appearances had just deceived him. An inquisitive look crossed his feature in answer to the other's. He didn't remember if Elsian had ever told him were he lived, or if he himself did. Tough, it was exceptional that they'd both meet outside school even if they both happened to live near the capital. A small part of him also knew that it was more than normal for the Gryffondor to be surprised by his grabbing even if it had happened before.
He took a step back, almost immediately letting go of the other. He quite clearly remembered their first meeting where he'd been told off pretty quickly. He shoved his hands back in his pockets, promising himself they would stay there. At the other's comments, William chuckled, looking at the other passerby. He focused back on his friend, his own smile mirroring Elsian's. He chimed in with a soft, "You can't say it didn't grab your attention, can you."
When Elsi admitted to being completely lost, William thought to his own activity of the evening. It could wait a bit if he could help the Gryffondor. Not that he was ever in a rush to get there in the first place. "Well, where were you heading? I'm not that familiar with this part of the city, but maybe I could help you..."

Was that a pun? It was too perfect not be be and had him giving the other a disbelieved scoff. He didn't think the Slytherin had it in him. Of course, this was the boy who'd gone stair surfing with him rather easily.
"Oh it grabbed my attention alright, literally." he said, stepping back to lean against a gate as some people pushed by them. "Is that just a habit of yours or am I special?" he snarked, "either way, don't blame me when you get hit with a bag of books."
He raised a brow at his friends offer, not really expecting it. "You sure?" he asked, head tilting in question as he played with the edges of some unruly hair trying to mutiny against the rest. Well, who was he to deny help? "well, I was trying to find a carnival I saw a flyer for. Obviously...I failed on that quest so far."
It was a pain and a half dealing with the constant urge to just reach into his pocket and look it up. Each time his fingers brushed his empty pocket a ugly reminder that he wasn't going to get back his phone any time soon unless he went back to the house. How his uncle had nabbed someone like his aunt Matilde was beyond him.
A sigh escaped him unbidden, just thinking about it was enough to make getting lost for the rest of the night sound like a fun adventure in comparison...If that wasn't such a dangerous thing to do alone for a kid he may actually do it.
"I can't remember the last time I was in this area. I don't even live here, I'm just stuck visiting for the weekend," he admitted, eyeing the other curiously, "I didn't expect to see you around here of all places. Do you live near here or something?"
Sry for the slow reply! Was a bit under the weather last week!

Maybe the pun was intentional, it was just a bit too easy. William smiled a bit at the other's disbelief. No one really pegged him for someone liking puns. In his opinion they were just clever plays on words, not unlike sarcasm in a way.
He pushed himself on the gate beside Elsian. The other's quip wormed its way to his heart. He did have a bad habit of grabbing people, though not as forcefully as Elsian had been subjected to. In way he was kind off special. One of his firsts friend. "Wouldn't dream of it", he mumbled under his breath, rolling his eyes.
"You sure?" asked Elsian to his previous offer. William nodded, silently asking himself why the other needed that reminder. He'd offered didn't he? "Well, I was trying to find a carnival I saw a flyer for. Obviously...I failed on that quest so far." Elsian continued. For a brief moment, William wondered if there was another carnival in this area then shook his head. They weren't that far from his own goal and that screamed business competition. "I guess we had the same quest, I just didn't fail it by not knowing were I was going", he answered, smiling at his friend.
William learned quickly that just like him Elsian was foreign to the city and this place. Well, maybe a little bit more. His family owned an apartment in London for when they were there for a long period of time. Nothing extraordinary, but it had let him explore this area more than enough. "No, I don't live here. At least, not permanently. Though, depending on how you see it, I do live about an hour and a half form here" , he said. "Anyway, I do know the way to the carnival. So... Mind if I accompany you?", he added, gesturing toward the opposite way Elsian was previously heading.

He eyed the other with an amused look, giving him a small shove with his own shoulder when he moved next to him. "Big talk for someone who's done exactly that up till now," he sassed cheekily, not letting the others sass go by without his own back talk.
There was a pause as William seemed to mull something over. Elsian simply leaning back against the gate and watching as some more adults flittered across the street, walking about and laughing as the summer sky continued to darken slowly but surely. Ears perking up at Wills words he eyed him in thinly veiled disbelief. Running into the other had been surprise enough but now the other also apparently was going the same place? Talk about timing. It was almost too good to be true.
"You're kidding." he deadpanned, a wry smile quickly worming its way onto his face. "Talk about dumb luck."
That's all this could be after all! What were the odds. Neither of them even lived in this area and somehow they'd met up.
At his question he gave William a look as if he couldn't believe he'd asked something so stupid. As if he was about to deny the other. Especially when he was the one who actually knew where to go! "You know what? I'm not so sure-" he began teasingly, looking as if pondering whether or not he actually wanted the others help, "I was having so much fun being lost- of course you can come!" he laughed.
"I mean, apparently I was going the opposite direction so I think its safe to say I need a quest partner," he mused, "just in time to save me from misdirection. My hero~" he mocked teasingly, wiggling his fingers at the other dramatically.

"Dumb luck indeed..." William pondered before offering the right direction to the other. Though, under Elsi's gaze a few seconds afterward, he felt his confident waver. No one with sense would want help from someone who didn't live in the area... At least, he wouldn't. Though asking a stranger could also lead to a pretty awkward situation for two kids alone in London.
His friend's next words dwindle his enthusiasm for a split second, his mind already forming a way to get out. The teasing tone quickly registered and instead he morphed his surprise into a deadpanned look. His laugh soon joined Elsian's.
"I mean, apparently I was going the opposite direction so I think its safe to say I need a quest partner," Elsian said. William snorted, not bothering to make it small or quieter. It was in a way liberating to laugh so... freely. At home, before Hogwarts, at reception held by his parents, a laugh was to be kept small and almost silent. Not that he'd had many occasion to do so. The adults didn't really made jokes at all and the kids were too busy trying to outrun each other in the yard. It felt very nice to be with Elsian. His snort transformed slowly into a pensive laugh until it died out completely.
"Just in time to save me from misdirection. My hero~" claimed Elsi dramatically. The playful jib made William want to play along even though he wasn't a hundred percent sure he should. Especially with what answer he had in mind. Decision taken, he challenge his inner old man and bowed gently. He took the offered hand and with a playful smirked answered, "It is my whole pleasure... milady! Now, let's be on our way!"
He kept Elsian's hand in his own and tugged him in the direction of the fair.

He grinned at the others expression, taking in the way William seemed to go through a number of feelings before settling on amused. Or at least that's what he assumed the others feeling to be once the deadpan look turned into laughter.
As the slytherin seemed to mull something over in his head Elsi's gaze began to wander, flittering to the clusters and stranglers wandering the city and to the darkening sky. Truthfully it'd been a bit lonely, maybe even a bit uncomfortable to be wandering the streets alone as it got later. He'd never had trouble being on his own before but after going to Hogwarts he supposed that he'd gotten rather used to having other people his age around him, even if it was just in passing or in class.
Granted, even if he hadn't he supposed it was normal to be a bit uncomfortable in a place you didn't know alone. Especially in the dark.
Seeing William move in the corner of his vision green eyes flittered back to his friend. A small grin flying across his face as he opened his mouth to give witty remark towards the other only to snap shut in confusion when the other bowed, taking the hand that Elsi had yet to drop fully to his side. Quickly blinking out of his stupor he'd just been about to ask what exactly the Slytherin was doing, only to have the question die on his tongue at the others words. He gave a small squawk of indignation, barely being able to spit out a, "wha- milady!" before William was dragging him along.
Rather than pulling away though Elsian scowled playfully, quickening his pace so he wasn't being dragged along and rather walking side by side with the other. Tightening his own grip he shoved the others shoulders with his own in play, giving the other a mock snooty look. "I change my mind. You're not a hero at all, more like a brute. Dragging a delicate flower around like that."
He gently flicked the others arm with his free hand as if in retaliation, "you're lucky I'm too lazy to betray you for that slander sir."

After the sputtering,William looked at his side as the other quickly caught up to him. Their hands were still linked, much to Will's pleasure. His grip tightened in the other's. A light smile graced his lips for a few seconds before he was roughly shoved to the side. He stumbled a bit before regaining his footing. His glare was cut off by Elsian's snooty voice, "I change my mind. You're not a hero at all, more like a brute. Dragging a delicate flower around like that."
William took a time to laugh at Elsi's face before even thinking of answering. He also couldn't help but agree. It was unbecoming to drag around a lady, only ruffians would do so after all. He felt a small flick on his shoulder before his friend continued, "you're lucky I'm too lazy to betray you for that slander sir."
William quickly answered with a scoff, "I'm sorry, sir, I just wanted to make you feel... special." He ended his apology with a wink. Or as close as he could get as he'd never actually done one before. It must have looked a bit weird to the other. Did people really did that?
He made his way through the pedestrians, his hand still in Elsian's. He decided to just ignore his weird wink in favor of asking, "What were you planning on doing at the fair?"

Elsi laughed, a short, loud thing born out of a mix of surprise and mirth at the other boys words. Snickering he brought up his free hand to cover his mouth when giggles ran through him, unable to stop the mirth from showing at the awkward wink.
"Oh now I'm a sir," he gasped, hovering hand unable to cover up the way his smile stretched across his features. It had been truly magnificent to see the others awkwardness in full effect and it was because of that he deemed the show enough to not rib and tease the other to the depths of embarrassment.
For now at least.
The last of the giggles finally dwindling Elsian finally dropped his hand, finally able to take a shuddering breath after having practically suffocating on his laughter. Yet even calm, the smile still prevailed. At least, it had for the small moment they walked in comfortable silence. At his friends question the smile faltered at the corners of his lips, becoming a bit more dim as his eyes trailed to focus on the sidewalk before them and the soft tapping of their shoes against the concrete.
It was something that he honestly hadn't really thought about. Once he'd seen the flyer he'd just...decided it was better than aimlessly wandering the streets. It was a bit startling to realize, that sudden reality that he had no idea what he'd actually been hoping to do after finding the place. For a moment he didn't say anything, stuck in his head as he thought about what to say as the sound of distant traffic their steps.
"I-" he blinked, green eyes looking back up to stare ahead as a car passed by the relatively empty street they were on. "-I don't really know," he admitted.
"I didn't think past finding it," he gave the other a sheepish side glance, "maybe...buy a ticket?" he joked, though it felt flat even to his own ears.
Most likely, he would have just wandered around in an attempt to fill up the time by himself which in hindsight, sounded as unappealing as having to do Astronomy homework on a Saturday. Especially now that he had William to hang around with.
"Now though? I'm thinking going on the more sketchy rides sound a lot more fun not that I have someone to die with if it breaks~" he teased, half serious.
