Ebony was walking towards the forest, her wand clenched in her right hand. She quickened her pace and and started running towards the forest. She just had a weird feeling, like someone was watching her. She shook it off and calmed herself down as she reached the edge of the forest. She always liked the forest. It was her, I guess, escape from reality. And ,for today, a place to practice some spells with her newly modified wand. And by modified she means she may or may not stole a spell from a teacher to help her 'modify' her wand she changed her wand. Anyways Ebony went deeper into the forest and stopped at an old, wide tree, that would surely hold up her spells. Ebony took a few steps away from the tree, just in case one if her spells backfire. She holds up her wand and aims for the tree. She decided to start firing speaks she remembered from the top of her head. She first fired a invisibility potion, which was stupid because the tree turned invisible so she couldn't fire at it anymore. Next, she fired a visible potion (she forgot the name) and all it did was splatter silver paint on the tree to make it 'visible'. While she was doing this however, she didn't notice a boy sneak up behind her

Kaegen had seen a girl go to the edge of the forbidden forest. Ever since he became unofficial assistant for the care of magical creatures, the boy had been spending most of his time out here, cleaning stables and watching creatures play in the forest. He had almost been found a couple times, he had never realized how helpful the fog back home was, concealing his motions and muffling his sound. Kaegen still moved with so much fluidity, to any passing glance he was a part of the landscape, the wind or some water, a passing cloud, something that belonged. Something that you wouldn't bother looking twice at. Walking in his smooth, silent way up to the girl, he tried to decide what to say. It should be a nice greeting, something to make her know he wasn't scary or a threat. Maybe a simple hello? Or a how do you do?
After more deliberation than was perhaps needed, Kaegen decided on one.
"Hello, there."
His whispery voice sounded like a breeze coming from far away, difficult to track down, difficult to find out where it was coming from, even harder to hear it in the first place. It worried him that this girl was being so reckless, coming to the edge of the forest like that. In his experience, the other students were far too loud and reckless.

"Hello there." Ebony tensed and whirled around, her wand becoming a dangerous weapon. Her wand simmered down after she realized it was another student who greeted her, not a criminal. She still was ready to attack the mysterious person though, he might be a criminal disguised as a kid. Was that even possible? She really needed to brush up on her knowledge of magic. "Who are you and what do you want?!" She asked, baring her sharp teeth. With her pale skin, black hair, eyes that seem to glow, sharp teeth, and the thing with the sunlight sometimes she resembled a muggle's version of a vampire. Allthough people told she looked pretty, like Snow White, she could still look terrifying. Her wand still pointed at him, she walked backwards in till her back hit the tree, which thankfully went back to normal. She quickly went to work. She threw her wand high in the air then quickly lept on a tree branch close to the ground. When she was on the branch she had one hand keeping her steady and the other hand reached up and grabbed the falling wand. She all of that without turning her back towards the person. After incidents in her past, Ebony decided it was best to learn some self defense skills among many others. You never knew what could come in handy. She felt safer on the branch, at least she wasn't on the ground floor with the boy.

That was bizarre. The girl had bared her teeth like some kind of animal, thrown the wand in the air and then jumped on a branch, asking him who he was and what he wanted.
The first thing he noticed was that she filed her teeth, which in itself was strange. But grandfather had said that wizards and muggles alike did weird things to look good, or be fashionable. It really wasn't any of his business what she did with her teeth anyway. The rest of her seemed normal enough, nothing really stood out of the ordinary, although she was from a different part of the world. Probably with very little sunlight, like the fens where he grew up.
Looking up at the girl standing on a branch, he tried to figure out the next conundrum. She appeared to think staying a bit above his head level on an unstable branch made her safer, so she must have grown up in a tree. It's what creatures that lived in trees do, they hide in them. Makes them feel more at home.
The fashionable tree girl had her wand pointed at him threateningly, too. But that wasn't all too worrisome. They hadn't been taught any dangerous spells yet, and practicing magic outside of the school was forbidden. Finally summing up everything he had noticed or observed, the boy answered the now tree bound girl.
"My name is Deathmote, Kaegen Deathmote. I'm the assistant for the care of magical creatures, and was worried that you didn't know that the forest was forbidden."
It was in the name, but maybe she had just forgotten about it? Kaegen had noticed one crucial thing about her escape. Her actions made her seem like prey, running away and getting a vantage point, but she had never turned from him. That was the mark of prey that knew how to fight back, and was willing to.
Kaegen waited to see what would happen next, not sure if he should beat a retreat or stay and make sure she got home safe. Why did other people have to be so difficult to read?

Didn't know the forest was forbidden? Hah! " Well, Mr. Deathmote, I do know the forest was forbidden. I just don't care that much about rules. " Ebony said. She got on a higher branch then hung from the tree, her legs wrapped around the branch so she would be almost face to face with him. She decided this goody-two shoes was not much of a threat and she didn't need to waste time on someone like him. While hanging from the tree she had a idea. She remembered what her foster mother taught her. Callis taught her many spells, but not ones you would learn at Hogwarts, well at this age anyway. She remembered a partially useful one that would let you read thoughts. It would be fun to see what he thought about her. She quickly muttered a spell under her breath so he wouldn't run away and she put the palm of her right hand on his head. The thoughts about her floated around her. Kaegen couldn't see them but she could and she started to dislike this person. "First of all, I don't file my teeth. I'm born that way so I'm stuck with it. Second, I did not grow up in a tree! I have a semi-normal life, thank you very much. And where I live has plenty of sunlight. I have a reason for avoiding it. Third, I have learned spells they don't teach here. Pretty dangerous ones, as a matter of fact. And I'm definitely not prey. It's seems to me you are the prey, little boy. " She finished that statement by climbing down the tree. She never been a victim of this spell so she didn't know if it had any side effects but oh well. She leaned against the tree trunk as she waited for him to get his bearings.

Kaegen quickly reviewed the facts.
1. This girl was 11
2. It was law that no underage wizard practice magic outside of school grounds
3. That spell she cast used her hand, not her wand
4. Wand-less magic is insanely difficult, more or less impossible
5. This spell is beyond even what the professors would be able to do
6. This girl IS NOT 11
7. This girl IS NOT A STUDENT
8. This girl is another deathwitch, just like the one from before. And that meant he was indeed prey.
This was not safe, this was beyond not safe. This was life threatening danger. A death witch had infiltrated hogwarts grounds, again. Did the professors do nothing? Really? This school was supposed to be safe. Leaping backwards, into the forest rather than away from it Kaegen snapped his slingshot and a smooth stone into his hand, pulling the rubber back until it was tight. Not tight enough to kill her, but there was no way she could dodge it. It was a hunting slingshot, designed for killing the magical creatures. At the current tension, it would knock her out, probably give her a nasty concussion. He had practiced with his slingshot for years, all of his life in fact. It was not going to miss, and there was nothing she could do about it. But he had not forgotten the last time he had tried to kill a death witch. It had not gone well. Kaegen moved like a wraith, a part of nature. The forest swallowed up the smooth figure as he ran off, not making a sound, hardly daring to breath. In a moment, he would be gone. There were very few that could track down Kaegen in the wild. Grown death witch or otherwise.

The rock hit her straight in the face. And she won't lie it hurt... all lot. Wow, she never thought a slingshot like that could be dangerous but it was. This kid was weird. See, Ebony could handle magical pain, or delusions, almost anything. She was taught that way. But physical pain was different. Any sort of major physical pain attacked her on a mental level. It brought back to many memories for her, and she's just eleven. She isn't supposed to be dealing with this. So that's why instead of chasing after the boy like she would do if he hit her with a spell she simply slumped down to the ground and cried. Heartbreaking sobs escaped her frail body. It was even worse that she wasn't unconscious , then she could deal with feelings later without this bundle of pain. She didn't know if she was screaming or crying but at this point she really didn't care. She pounded the ground with one fist and with the other she cradled her face. Ebony made a vow. That when she's able to become more stable she will get revenge on this boy. That echoed in her head before she used a spell to knock herself unconscious(for a short amount of time), taking care of all these troubling emotions instantly.
