annabel ran her pale fingers over leather backbones, lost in her mind wondering what those pages hold. every book was hardcover. the way she liked them. unbreakable, as most ended up torn under her care. she could recognise a couple of titles, most had a home in her mother's library.
as she observed the lass realised her father wandered off up the staircase to inspect some oddity. most likely pick a gift for mum. she let him do that, feeling quite safe among all these pages. there she began to collect the needed ones, letting their titles silently fall off her tongue. the words did not come out as sounds but merely puffs of air. one by one they piled in her fragile hands, it rose until it became difficult to gather more.
her father observed from above, descending the staircase. he was about to offer help but nothing could help his little girl as she collided with another, potentially also a future hogwarts student. although he wished to check if she's okay, the man got a different idea. he merely wanted to see his child make friends. his wife would excuse him not rushing to her aid, getting her socialised and more comfortable with students was far more important!
in turn anna collided with the floor, books falling around her and the stranger. she began to apologise again and again, attempting to collect her own things. "i am so sorry- i couldn't see where i was going!"

lost among the words
Although there was still a few weeks before Allie had to be at King's Cross Station for her trip to Hogwarts, Allie couldn't wait to start getting ready for it. After weeks of pleading with her father to let her go to Diagon Alley to buy her supplies, he finally relented. It seemed like he didn't even want her to go to Hogwarts at all. . . but then again most parents probably didn't, seeing as that meant they would be away from their children for a long, long time. . .
Walking through Diagon Alley with her father behind her, Allie took a deep breath and let it out. Soon she would arrive at Hogwarts and get to learn magic and spells and charms - she couldn't wait! The first store Allie and her father went to was Flourish and Blotts. Allie's love for books had started a long time back but luckily hadn't diminished over the many years.
When the two of them arrived at the bookstore, Allie immediately found all her school books, piling them high on a table near her father, then went off by herself to find a few other books that looked interesting. She quickly found four after flipping through them to see what they were about and was on her way back to her father when she ran into another girl who had books piled high in her arms. All of Allie's books fell from her hands and mixed in with the ones the girl had dropped. Allie quickly knelt down to help pick them all up.
"Are you alright?" Allie asked, at the same time as the other girl started to apologize profusely. She gave the girl next to her a smile. "It's okay, I wasn't really looking where I was going either. . ." she admitted, grabbing the last book off the ground and holding it out.
The girl looked to be around the same age as Allie - and she was probably out shopping for her school supplies too, as Allie had seen a few of the spellbooks they needed on the ground when she was helping to pick them all up. "I'm Allie Lewis." she said to the girl, introducing herself.
