Jax walked onto the field, a squirming ball of anxiety having settled in the pit of his stomach. It was a cold day, and the wind was picking up leaves, blowing them in his clothes and hair. It was strange, how absolutely terrified he was. From the moment he’d stepped foot in the castle, everything had gone wrong. It was like moving to London all over again, the culture shock so strong it had left him stumbling. He’d only found out about the wizarding world a couple months prior, and his immediate reaction had been ‘NO’.
Because he couldn’t do it again. Be thrust in a foreign place with nothing to hang onto, getting everything wrong, looked down upon for not knowing customs and the such. Yet there he was. Again. In a school full of strangers, alienated from the boys in his dorm by something he couldn’t control, away from his father and siblings. And his mother…as soon as he’d gotten a phone, he’d sought her out. Miraculously, she’d responded. But at Hogwarts, there was no wifi, and she was a normal person. So when he’d stopped texting, so had she.
Biting his lip hard, Jax shoved his hands in the front pockets of his jeans, lowering his head against the bitter wind, icy-blue eyes searching the field for Bree. He could barely remember what she looked like. A hint of curly hair and bright eyes…but that was it. Hell, the owl from her had surprised him. He’d already gone up in his head, convinced he’d spend his years alone. People thought he was stupid for refusing to use his wand, for not wearing the robes and not saying things like ‘dolt’ and ‘pillcock’. The worst part? He was starting to believe them.
Now, he was looking for her desperately, the small keychain from his Charm’s class clutched tight in a white knuckled grip, butterflies in his stomach. ‘Please. Please show up, please please please please please.’ He’d been stood up one too many times back home. Would he even recognize her? Would she recognize him? What if it had been a prank? What of he’d been played again by the other ravenclaw boys? What if…
What if he’d gotten his hopes up for nothing?

To say Brionna was nervous would be an understatement.
The young girl was absolutely, freaking out. Firstly in a spur of the moment confidence, she had reached out to the male Jackson Lockwood to play some football (American Soccer). The female loved the sport, and last time she spoke to Jax, he expressed genuine interest in playing as well. Brionna remembered her first meeting with the peculiar, but endearing, boy rather fondly.
Jax, as she remembered was well, plainly but an odd fellow, but!- Brionna believed it added to his charm. The two parted ways last time in an agreement that Brionna would assist in studies and Jax would provide company for running or football. Off course, Brionna had met other students, yet she was unsure if any of them were actually interested in her other hobbies. Not to mention she was unsure if many of them were “friends”. She considered Jax and two others as friends, yet she was unsure about anyone else. When he accepted her offer via owl, the brunette nearly fainted from relief of not making a fool of herself. Although of course there was still plenty of time to do so.
Back in the present moment of panic, Brionna knew she was being irrational. The small girl clutched her favorite football close to her chest as she wandered the many intertwined halls of the school. “No, he will not judge you for your Linkin Park t-shirt, or muddy black and grey tennis shoes,” she scolded herself internally. Her outfit was nothing special, as they were going to be playing football. A band tee, some grey shorts, and tennis shoes. But Brionna hated shorts… and skirts… and dresses… anything that neglected to cover skin really, but with the summer heat, it was shorts or heat exhaustion. That didn’t stop her from missing her jeans and converse though.
As she absent mindedly brushed some of her shoulder length brown curls from her eyes, she hit her glasses. Jolting to a stop Brionna’s heart skipped a beat as she realized she forgot to remove the giant frames and leave them behind. It would help her to see much better, but that didn’t stop her worry. It wasn’t that she was ashamed of her glasses, but she didn’t wear them out often as they got in the way. Typically she just walked around with blurry vision or contacts (in class situations only). Deciding that she was much too lost to make it back to the common room anyhow, Brionna continued on her way of attempting to find the courtyard.
After some time of wandering and panicking slightly on if she would be on time, a sixth year Hufflepuff she passed for the upteenth time finally stopped and helped her. “Take the first left, and then it should be the first door on the right wall.” And then Brionna finally made it! Now all she had to do was find Jax. She vaguely remembered his dark black hair and bright blue eyes, although that was about it. Suddenly her nerves started twisting in her stomach again.
Although amongst the nerves was slight excitement. Excitement to meet someone she could proudly claim as a friend. Excitement to finally play some long overdue football. Excitement for a simple escape and to have fun.
Twisting her uncharacteristically bright blue football, she admired the neon yellow/green strips with fondness. This ball was old, but her long term favorite as it seemed to be the only one she never misplaced. She should have been paying attention to her feet as she fell rather ungracefully flat on her face. The ball went rolling away to the feet of just the male she had been trying to find, but yet to notice.
A sarcastic, “Ow.” left her lips as she slowly sat up.
Well that’s one way to make an entrance.

Jax had been just about to go back inside and grab his spraypaint, the ball of anxiety in his chest having been replaced by...nothing. That's what he felt. A great, deep pit of nothing seemed to have materialized inside him. His fingers had gone numb from the cold, keychain having turned to ice, hair falling all over his eyes in messy black waves.
As usual, he hadn't been wearing the deep black robes everyone else was. After spending over an hour trying to figure them out on the first day, Jax had gone back to jeans and t-shirts. He hadn't spent too long figuring out what to wear. He never did, grabbing the first thing that came in hand and throwing it on. Today, it was his good pair of jeans. The ones with the rips and tears at the knees, loose around his hips and thighs. He could actually move in them. It had been a stroke of luck they'd been the first pair he'd grabbed. Then there was the shirt. He'd passed on racking with his gang that day so he could do this. Stretching out from his shoulder, and down his left side was a drawing which had taken him an insanely long time. Especially because the white marker refused to show up on the black fabric.
His city.
Home.
Toronto.
It curled up around his sides and grew on the back of the shirt, the buildings so terrifyingly well drawn it seemed as if he'd printed a black and white photo on the shirt. The places where he'd drawn were just slightly raised, rough to the touch.
He'd been nine when Anthony had adopted him, taken him out of the foster system. The past three yeas had been the best of his life but...Nearly every night when he went to sleep, he got the same dream. Walking the streets with his mom, hand in hand. She'd be wearing a ton of makeup and borderline slutty clothing, because that's how he'd imagined all teenage girls. They'd be laughing, pointing at the people who passed them by, making up stories for them. And she'd be there. Her hand warm and solid in his, looking at him with identical icy blue eyes and raven hair. 'Is that your little brother?' someone would ask. And she'd laugh. 'No, he's my son'. My son. She'd claim him.
They always walked down the same streets. Graffiti alley. Past the CN Tower and the Rogers Center, huge buildings towering over them, sun glistening off the windows.
But that had never happened. No. Because she'd dumped him as soon as he'd been born. Went back to visit once. "You okay?" she'd asked. And he'd nodded, because he had no idea who she was. Just some lady who'd wanted to say hi to him. "Yeah I'm okay," he'd answered. And then she'd left. No other word.
Now, pale blue eyes were taking in the stone walls of the courtyard expressionlessly, looking for a place to tag. He had no one to talk to. No one to complain to that Wolfgirl ditched him. So he'd take his anger out on the walls instead...if he actually worked up the guts to move from the pages of his sketchbook onto stone.
She hadn't shown up.
And he was actually surprised. He shouldn't have been. But oh man, she'd seemed like such a nice person...A pang of regret hit him as he pushed off the wall he'd been leaning against, lip having start to bleed from having bitten it so hard. This sucked. Ugh. To think he'd actually thought they could have been friends. 'You're such an idiot.' Of course it had been too good to be true.
Then, some chick went stumbling in front of him, doing the most graceful faceplant he'd ever seen. A rather strange ball tumbled from between her arms, rolling to his feet. "Bree?" he breathed, relief so strong it was practically dripping from his voice. Thank fuck. He gripped her arm, pale fingers cold on her skin, helping her up, a strange little smile playing at his lips. "Took you long enough..." The pit in his chest was gone, replaced by a warm, fuzzy feeling. Oh man. "You good gurl?"
He paused, smile widening, reaching his icy-blue eyes as he noticed the shirt. Linkin Park??? A small laughed escape him, relief making him lightheaded. Okay. Alright. This wouldn't be so bad. "See, now I may be horrible at school, BUT at least I can walk..." There was no viciousness behind his words or the charming smile. He was teasing, not looking to wound. Running a hand through his hair, he picked up the ball, turning it over in his hand. "Man you weren't kidding. This thing's been around since before the dinosaurs..."

Brionna heard him before she saw him.
Hearing her newest nickname being muttered she glanced to her side to see Jax. Slightly off-put by the tumble, she was grateful when Jax helped pull her up. It was warm out, so the fact that his fingers were so cold was a shock to Brionna's system. Shaking her head clear, as she pushed her glasses back up her nose. Smiling sheepishly, she turned to see Jax featuring a strange smile. She smiled brightly at the male as she had finally made it! After all the nervous planning, they finally made it. It was almost unreal, as Brionna hardly left her room at all unless for classes or meals.
"Hello, I do hope I didn't keep you waiting for long..." She fidgeted with her fingers as she glanced at their surroundings. Relief poured off of her when she noticed the lack of other students present. Hopefully they wouldn't hit anyone, that would involve more talking to strangers... Brionna wanted to stick with just one person for now, not confident in her crowd handling abilities.
Finally registering that he asked a question Brionna dismissed her kinda sad thoughts of loneliness. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just forgot to watch my feet for a second there..." The brunette rubbed the back of the neck in an attempt to both ease and hide her nerves. Thankfully, Jax seemed to know just what to say to ease her nerves.
Brionna watched as a bright smile painted his face as he said his next line, "See, now I may be horrible at school, BUT at least I can walk..." Brionna laughed lightly at the innocent tease, ear tips turning a light pink. She was more embarrassed to have tripped than offended. She took the poke with stride before she remembered their first meeting. More importantly, Jax's rather... abrupt exit.
Grinning right back at him she responded, "Says the person who left our last conversation with a bloody nose from tripping!" Obviously, the two were simply poking fun and had no malicious intent. That didn't stop Brionna from wondering if her tease was okay, she didn't want to come across as actually rude...
Brionna caught sight of Jax's shirt as he raised a hand to ruffle his hair. She was in awe. The shirt looked so... Cool, for a lack of better words. It was very detailed and an obviously large amount of effort went into the look. Brionna tore her focus away as Jax picked up her ball.
After hearing his comment on her ball's elderly state, Brionna was quick to defend the inanimate object. "Oi- that's my favorite ball your talking about..." Brionna's tone was light, as she jokingly took the ball from his hands. "Me and my brother's use to play together, before... well, we used to anyways." Trailing off, Brionna quickly corrected her statement. She didn't need to go on rambling about her family non-sense. "You are right though," Brionna nearly snorted at the look of the shabby ball, "It is quite old."
It wasn't falling apart of peeling or anything gross, but the ball had it's fair share of scruff marks and tiny rips from cleats and shoes alike. The green-eyed girl was attached to the silly object just as much as her favorite stuffed animal, which she received around the same time. Dismissing the thoughts that were trying to crowd her head once more, she perked up as she took notice of Jax's shirt once more.
"Oh-um- I like your shirt by the way. It's very interesting..." trailing off as Brionna didn't really know how else to comment on the situation. Hopefully that came out as the complement it was suppose to be, though even she knew it was lack luster to the amazing detail and depiction of the shirt itself.

Bree's smile sent him on a loop. God, she was pretty...and here. Actually here. Real. Warm, delicate skin under his icy fingers had proved as much. She'd pushed her glasses up her nose delicately, fixing her hair, eyes flickering to their surroundings. Not much could be seen save for the couple lost looking students, drifting between the trees or leaning against the walls, books propped open on their lap.
He wasn't one of the lost looking students anymore. It struck him hard, along with a huge wave of relief. No longer clinging to the walls like some vine, trying to figure out where to look, least someone would think he was staring at them. "God, I'm so glad you're here," he breathed, turning back to shoot her a grateful smile. Blue eyes lingered on her, taking her tiny form and geeky clothing in. I'd love to draw you, was the first thought that struck him. He'd need to get a couple shades of red for her hair. Some grass green and maybe emerald for highlights. Ivory and porcelain for her skin.
"Hello, hope I didn't keep you waiting," she said. "You didn't," he replied, voice uncharacteristically quiet. He tucked his frozen fingers in the pockets of his jeans, dropping the ball and placing the toe of his shoe on it to keep it from rolling away. He couldn't help the small laugh which slipped from between his lips. Yeah. They'd parted rather waywardly.
"In my defense,: he begun, only to realize there was absolutely nothing he could say which would excuse him tripping over the robe like in idiot. Except that the robes were stupid. "It's not my fault I can't walk in an oversized dress," he grumbled, crossing his arms and doing his best to look incredibly offended. "Not that I'm knocking dresses, by the bye, I'm sure there's lots of chicks, dudes, and in betweens who can wear those sacks and look hot. I'm not one of them..." Hell, was anyone in his family capable of wearing dresses? Other than Bea; she didn't count considering she'd been born in summer dresses and oversized hats. Kennedy? No. Anth? No. Jest? Eeeeeh, he'd be too dysphoric...Jessie...no.
Now there was something he had on his twin sister. He was a wizard, and she was stuck at home with her dumb crop tops. And she managed to pull of absolutely anything. "You'd like my twin," he blurted out. "She's not nerdy like you, but she's scary smart." Her eyes were on his shirt. Jax looked away, pretending he didn't love the attention. Usually, people looked at him with barely restrained annoyance, so to see someone who looked at him and saw him...really saw him...hell it was a nice feeling.
"I'm not saying it's not a good ball," he grinned, lifting his foot so it rolled over to her side."It simply looks like it's fought in Vietnam."
And then she was saying something about his shirt, and our boy Jax actually frigging blushed. "Oh," he said softly, embarrassment and a burning pride giving his cheeks a light pink hew. "Thank you...took a ridiculously long time to draw in all honesty. I think I threw out ten white markers and used waaaay too much bleach that day..."
Turning towards the long side of the courtyard, Jax pointed to two trees far off in the distance. "Say, we make those two one net, and those columns over there another? First to ten?" Now the main thing to remember: Jax didn't really play sports. Most times, he holed up in his room with a sketchpad, or kept watch for his gang. They'd never allowed him to actually spraypaint a wall, and maybe it was a good thing, looking back. Jax had the rather troublesome ability to bring drawings to life or pull them out of paper accidentally. So why was he here? Well...Bree, first off. And going out of his comfort zone second off.
Turning back to the trees, a small spark of excitement flaring in his chest, he took a deep breath. He was going to regret betting on this..."If I win, you gotta sit still and let me draw you," he announced, giving her a small, mischievous smile. If I lose I'll...I dunno, what would you like me to do?"

Relief.
That was what Brionna felt when Jax said she hadn't kept him waiting. She listened intently, with an eyebrow raised slightly in amusement when he struggled to some up with an excuse about his last exit. By the end of his pout session about the robes being dresses Brionna had to hold a hand over her mouth to hide her laughter, but a few giggles trickled out. "I think the only reason I like the robes a tiny bit is because it reminds me of a cape, like a superhero from a movie or comic book..." Brionna flushed slightly as she twiddled her thumbs, afraid she said something to make her seem dumb or childish. She was also the child who ran around the house when she was like, three, in a diaper with a blanket around her neck as a cape. Not that she ever told anyone that of course.
"You'd like my twin," Jax blurted out.
Brionna didn't know if this was good or bad, so she just said, "Really?" But then he said she wasn't nerdy, but scary smart. He thought she was scary smart? Oh boy, maybe her vocabulary had been intimidating him in their letters more than she thought... While the thought nagged at her a little, she wasn't offended, more so worried he'd find her annoying at some point. One thing Brionna knew for sure, was that while she would try to make Jax more comfortable with less uncommon words, she would never sacrifice her oddness or individuality. Such as she would continue her odd speech patterns, and excessive vocabulary overall. She didn't think Jax would force anything such as that on her anyhow, so she just tucked those thoughts away.
Brionna's grin was not gone even a second before it was back. "Vietnam?" Grinning as she looked at the ball with it's scuff marks. "I think that's what I'll call the ball from now on, Vietnam. Hm, maybe. Probably. Did you know Vietnam War is considered a complete failure in American history?Oh-uh- sorry. Off topic again..." trailing off, Brionna tried to rein in her scattered brain thoughts. Her mind was in such a rush all the time, she hardly ever conveyed her true thoughts out loud. She was much better on paper.
Then came the big shocker. Just as the brunette had complemented her friends shirt, Jax actually blushed! The easily flustered girl was shocked to finally see the laid back male blush. Brionna was about to try to comment, if she worked up the courage when he explained the process to the shirt. Instead, Brionna's face conveyed her shock and amazement. "Y-you- but- shirt- Wow," pausing to fix her words before she continued, "That is so cool! You made the whole thing too? Amazing, that's talent and dedication that is! Amazing..." Brionna was absolutely blown away. When Jax mentioned his appreciation for the arts in their owls, Brionna had thought it was cool, but wondered the extent. Seeing just how talented the male was first hand made the first year feel amazed and slightly intimidated, only because she didn't think she was anywhere near as good at anything like that except maybe math and homework.
As Jax turned away, once again pulling Brionna from her thoughts she smiled at his next words. After nodding at what Jax appointed as the goal post, Brionna noted he took a breath. "If I win, you gotta sit still and let me draw you. If I lose I'll...I dunno, what would you like me to do?" he announced with a mischievous grin. Brionna blanked for a full minute, not processing the words before she realized what he said. Immediately her cheeks lit ablaze with a dark scarlet, though she tried to turn her head away to hide it. Draw... her? She's never had that done before. Even so, the thought that someone thought she was interesting enough to draw set her face aflame with renewed blush. At the mention of her objective for winning she perked up and turned back with the blush still very present.
The green-eyed girl smiled as she thought back once again to their letter conversations. "If I win, can we watch or listen to a musical? Or even if I recommend it and you watch it when you go back home- so long as I get to share musicals with you!" Brionna was smiling brightly at the prospect of getting to show something she found interesting to another person. She just hopped she didn't trip during this game.
First to ten? she pondered as she claimed the trees goal as her own to protect. She hadn't played in a while, and she was better at defending than making goals. This should be interesting, was her final thought as she turned to face Jax once more.

Holy fuck, it's been ten days, I'm so sorry.
A cape...Jax smiled. Yeah, he could see that. Personally, he'd never think of the robes as anything more than an annoyance, stereotypical and impractical. But he wasn't about to force his opinion on anyone else. There was no need, after all. "Yea, that's pretty dope," the emo-in-the-making smiled, long fingers picking at the lint on his jeans. "Not gonna lie, I've always found Loki kinda hot..."
But what the hell did hot mean, at eleven? Not much. Jax just meant the guy was nice to look at. He may or may not have drawn him several times, ridiculously intricate sketches of him lying between the pages of his blackbook. And then Bree was talking about naming the ball Vietnam. "Man, you weren't joking," he smirked, alternating between looking at her and the ball, icy blue eyes noting even the most minuscule of details, from the way her amber hair was curling up elegantly, shining in the sickly sun, to her to the awkwardness in her stance and in her movements. But it was okay. Cuz they were both nervous, and Jax would be damned before he messed this up. "You really do name everything, huh? Did you name your wand yet?" He was joking...mostly. Honestly, it would have come as no surprise if she had named the magic stick.
And then she was sputtering something about his shirt, and Jax was thrown off again. Damn. Tucking a stray strand of hair behind his ear, Jax bit his lip, embarrassed blush not having died down in the least bit. "T-thanks," he smiled. A genuine, purely happy smile which reached his eyes, gave him a certain...thing. It was hard to explain, but when Jax was smiling, it was hard to look away from him. Even with all the eyeliner (which, by the bye, he'd taken the day before to perfect, ditching his classes and holing up in the abandoned bathrooms upstairs, the eyeliner pencil his sister had sent him as a form of mockery held in a white knuckled grip) and the ebony black hair. Despite all of that, he was damn handsome and he knew it.
Aww, was Bree blushing? Awww. Her cheeks had been set afire after he'd asked her to sit still for a portrait. Smirking like a cat, Jackson nodded. "Yea, that would be alright," he said. Jax had asked what the hell a musical was only for appearances. How could he not know about musicals, when his ado sister, Kennedy, had a giant Hamilton poster in her room, and got him through his panic attacks by singing to him?
But that memory...it was something sacred. To be hidden away from the world and treasured. Protected from all the ugliness and hurt which existed everywhere he turned. Plus, the thought of Kennedy always made him kind of sad. After her no good boyfriend had shown up, she'd moved away. They were supposed to get married soon...No one had gotten past his defenses but her. The whole house had been so chaotic for the first month after they'd moved in that Jax had barely been able to sleep. So she'd snuck into his room, a complete stranger with whom he was family all the sudden. And snag. Everything from Hamilton to Chicago to DEH and Heathers. All the good, pure songs. So he knew them. Knew them by heart, and would hum them to himself sometimes when he felt an anxiety attack coming on, or when he was down in the dumps.
But he couldn't tell Bree that. Not yet, at least. She was so friggin dope, but he didn't know her that well. And that was a piece of him that he wasn't going to let go just yet.
Shaking his head to scatter the suddenly heavy thoughts, watching her walk away from him, ball in hand. Okay, so she got the trees. Cool. Yeah, he could roll with that. Giving her a few seconds to get used to her area, Jax rolled his shoulders back, planting himself in front of her. He wasn't nearly coordinated enough to keep her from running away with the ball, so he'd try to stay on the offensive. Shoot on her net rather than defend his own.
Taking a deep breath, Jax moved when she moved. The ball was in between them, an equal distance apart.

Welp- I'm late. So, so, so sorry T-T
Brionna was calming down, ever so slightly, which was surprising, but welcomed. When Jax asked if she had a nickname for her wand she blanched. Her brother's had called it "the twig" every time it was in conversation, because their adoptive father's was called "the branch". Brionna spent almost all of her time when she was home talking and caring for with her brother's, and lots of letters checking in on them when at school. So when she really thought about it, she always internally referred to her wand as, "the twig", cause that's what made her think of her brothers.
"Well..." Brionna hesitated before deciding to just spit it out, "My brother's like to call my wand 'the twig', so that's what I ended up calling it." the brunette shrugged, as she didn't really know what else to say about that.
After Brionna complimented Jax on his shirt and skills, Jax smiled. His smile was so genuine and happy it made Brionna happy to know that her new friend wasn't feeling down. Brionna loved to make sure her friends (however limited they may be) knew she was there for them. Making people happy brought her a calming sense of happiness. Unfortunately, she wasn't too good at actually talking people up. She usually was the "listener", and dished out advice on how to better one's situation from there. But emotional comforting? Not so much.
The curly-haired female didn't even realize she was staring for a hot second. She shook her head to clear her thoughts as they set up the game after confirming the deal for whoever wins. She hopped to win, as she was quite the competitive person, but the odds were pretty much 50-50. Brionna hadn't played in well over a year, and her balance was almost non-existent. However, if she got the ball, her aim was on point. Because she was use to playing defense, she didn't do much in the dribbling aspect, but kicking far, and to a specific point she could do. Although she did have a nasty habit of tripping on her shoe laces, a lot.
Let the game begin.
*** Time-skip to after last goal ***
"Poor Vietnam the football," Brionna thought internally.
Huffing slightly from the running the two had engaged in. The score was somehow at a perfect 9 to 9 tie. With Jax playing on offense and Brionna on defense most of the game, it was a wonder the two actually scored on each other at all. Neither were particularly good, but it was fun nonetheless. Brionna had tripped a couple times, but less than she originally inticipated, so she was feeling really good. They had a couple random laughs, and had managed to avoid hitting other people, but they hit a lot of walls.
Brionna kicked the ball at a tree on accident and it came back and almost hit her in the face. Luckily, she dodged, but Jax scored right after. And that was the end of the game. Jax won and Brionna cheered for her friend. Sure she lost, and she didn't really enjoy loosing, but her friend won, so there was that to be happy about. Plus, she had too much fun to really care about loosing or winning. After being stuck inside for so long, she was happy to let some nervous energy out. She hadn't talked to many others, and not many people are up for a game of football just for fun.
"You won!" Brionna cheered as she reached Jax. Smiling brightly she rambled about a couple football facts. "You know, football was originally created in China and the first game of Basketball was played with a football and football is the most watched and played sport on earth statistically speaking. Which means you just won a game of the most popular sport on earth!" Brionna stopped her rambles, as they were random and kinda unrelated. She just spits out random facts when she gets excited, like she did the first time they met when Jax showed her his fidget cube. She was working still working on that.
"Good game." Brionna's grin didn't disappear and if the game had sapped any of her energy it was filled with after game nerves. Her foot wouldn't stop moving now, so she tapped it as quietly as she could to avoid attention. She was tired, but excited from being able to be outside. She treasured the indoors, but outside was good every now and then. She was mostly nervous that Jax didn't have fun, or that her odd fact sprouting might weird him out.
No matter what, it was a good game and Brionna had fun.

Okay so first, I'm sorry for taking so long. Second, do you think we could cut down on the text? It takes really long to answer this rpI don't want us to drop it because it eats up too much time.
Jackson was wheezing slightly, a wild grin on his face despite the pain in his side. He hadn't run like that in literally years, had forgotten exactly how good it felt. Sometime during the game, he'd slipped on the wet grass and landed on his back, the fall making his world spin for a few seconds, knocking the breath out of his lungs, head hitting the ground with an audible crack. But he'd pushed himself up before Brionna could get scared, tossing a grin in her direction. Now, his black hoodies back was covered in green and blades of broken grass, the material damp from sweat and dirt.
The game was over.
"You're a hella good sport, ya know that?" he laughed, making his way to where Bree was guarding her post, combing his hair back with pale fingers, entire body aching. They'd probably looked like idiots, neither having the skills nor coordination to actually play football, but doing it anyway. But whatever. They'd had fun. It was safe to say Jax hadn't smiled this much since he'd stepped foot in Hogwarts, which was a rather worrying thing considering he'd been constantly smirking behind people's backs before he'd found out about his magical heritage.
"Remind me never to challenge you to running games again," Jax wheezed, finally reaching her, a charming smile upon the little emo's face. One hand had flown up to his chest, clutching his hoodie where his heart was, the steady thum-thump having picked up it's pace to twice what it was supposed to be, pain having spread through his chest and up to his left shoulder. The early signs of heart failure were there, if you looked carefully enough. But Jax didn't. He knew something was wrong, he simply chose to ignore it.
Bree met him halfway, still somehow twitching, her leg bouncing up and down. "How?" he demanded, arm describing an elegant motion which encompassed all that was Bree. "I'm about ready to fall asleep where I stand, meanwhile you're hyper." Shaking his head, the emo nodded along with her little football rant, keeping quiet until she'd finished. "Right. You gotta let me sketch you now," he reminded her, hand gently going on her elbow as not to startle her, and then guiding her out of the courtyard. "I think I've been outside enough for the next few months," he smirked, pulling open the door for her. "Get changed and meet you in the Commons? Half an hour?" It was a request more than an order.
It was odd. This was the first time he'd asked something rather than demanding it. Especially of someone he didn't know all that well. But god damn it, this chick was amazing and he was determined to make this work.
After they were both inside, he let the courtyard door close behind him, stepping out of the way of a group of older students. The entire hallway was full of them, all talking at the same time. A small huff left Jax as he was forced to move out of the way of yet another group, dodging a couple girls laughing so loudly the sounds bounced off the walls, echoing around the hall. "God, I hate this school," he hissed, elbowing his way through the swarming mass of kids. It was just like the orphanage. The same crowd of bodies, voices overlapping, oppressive heat enough to choke him. People. There were too many people.
The beginning of an anxiety attack was starting to make itself known, and it would hit hard unless he moved. Got away from the crowd. "Come," he told Bree, dragging her through the crowd by her sleeve, keeping his mouth closed as he pushed his way through the people. Finally, FINALLY, the were out of the hall, onto the stairs. Only then did he let go of her. "Sorry," he breathed out, shaking his head to clear the sudden influx of overwhelming thoughts. There were too many things going on at once, too many people, too many words, too small of a place. "I have a challenge for you," icy blue eyes met green as he ran a hand through his hair again. It was becoming more and more of a nervous habit.
"Let's try to learn the castle. Whoever figures out how the hell to navigate this place first wins."@Brionna Wolf Your move gurl. Sorry for taking so long.
