Reine Thomas was born during an unusually warm summer in England. Her father and grandmother were present at her birth, her grandmother returning to her lavish home in France afterwards. About a year after Reine's birth, her mother, Adele, decided she wanted to forget her magical abilities and divorced Reine's father, later going on to marry a muggle. Disappointed by her daughter's decision, Mila Dubois came to live with Reine's father in Bristol. Everything was fine until Reine turned five, when her father died in a car accident. Reine's grandmother tried to convince her daughter to come back and raise young Reine but Adele refused.

Taking in the young girl as her own, Mila raised Reine until she turned eleven, receiving her Hogwarts letter. Mila herself had attended Hogwarts from her Fourth year up, having gone to Beauxbatons Academy before. Taking after her father, Reine had always loved Quidditch, but after a bludger accident that involved her breaking her nose, she decided she didn't want to play it professionally.
