Tent Occupants: Jake Morris, @Alan Vanes, @Jack Warren, @George Henry, Tiger the cat, Cadmus the owl, and some stuffed animals
"It's this one I think," Jake said, looking down at the piece of parchment the professor had given them with their tent assignments, and pointing his finger. He really hoped that they had found it - his backpack was really heavy, and he couldn't carry it forever, and then there was the suitcase he'd been rolling behind him since they arrived. Inside the two, he had everything a camper could ever need, courtesy of some end-of-school care packages from his parents. New summer clothes, bug spray, sun screen, a water bottle, a battery-powered fan, swim suits, a sleeping bag, a flashlight, new books, and even a bag of marshmallows. He was very well prepared.

When he'd first heard about camp, he hadn't even wanted to go... he'd been waiting to go home so badly for so long that he didn't think he could wait another day before seeing his parents. George had reminded him of his responsibilities though. He was the Hufflepuff Quidditch mascot. The badger society had said he was, when they had given him the costume. He couldn't let his house down... not at such an important time. The team needed him. He had to be there. He didn't have a choice. He was going to miss his Mum and Dad, he knew he was. But he was putting on a brave face for now, to try to not let anybody know about it. By daylight, that was something he could manage.

Camp DID sound like it could maybe be fun, though. They would get to sleep outside under the stars, which was going to be much better than the pitch black of their common room. It would be like when he had used to camp outside with his parents in the backyard. He would fall asleep half in half out of the tent, looking up at the stars and the fireflies, like a million nightlights looking down at him. It had always made him feel peaceful.

He was going to be with his best friends too - George and Jack would be sharing the tent with him. Soon he'd be going home for the whole summer, and then he didn't know how many times that he was going to see them until school began again. How was he gonna make it through breakfast without Jack making him laugh, or George telling him about what he was writing or reading in the newspaper? He wanted to treasure the time he had left with them before they went home and wouldn't be able to play anymore. And at camp they'd at least be far away from all the bad things that had happened at Hogwarts.

They wouldn't be alone either. Alan was going to be with them too, which was a comfort to Jake. Alan was his most grown-up friend - fourteen years old. He'd know what to do if anything went wrong. It was probably a good thing too that they had an older kid there, because it was the only way his parents were going to let him go at all - and even then they hadn't sounded very sure in their letters. If it was just him and George and Jack there would have been no way. Jake liked Alan - he was happy to get to spend more time with him. Maybe he'd even get to meet his stuffed lion that Alan had told him about all the way back when they had met on the train. And perhaps the most exciting part of the whole summer - sharing a tent with Alan also meant sharing a tent with Tiger!

Jake rolled his suitcase up to the tent entrance and let it fall down onto the grass, flopping down on it to catch his breath for a moment. Then he opened up the tent flap and gasped at the miraculous sight that awaited him. One thing was for sure: magic was always full of surprises.

"Whoaaaaaaaaa! It's huge!"

George rolled his trunk along, giving it a swift kick whenever the wheels got caught in the grass and started pulling up chunks of mud from the campsite. Trudging along with his trunk and backpack made him feel like he was going to the airport, or moving, both things he'd never actually done in his life. Camping was much less exciting than either of those. It was like a version of moving where the house sucks and you don't stay. He was under-supplied for summer fun. He had received no summer care packages from his parents. In fact, he hadn't even informed them that he would be gone for summer camp until just a week or two before his departure. They had Sam to take care of them, anyhow. They wouldn't miss George.

"Can you go inside of it before you start gawping at it?" George asked, bowling the young Hufflepuff out of the way as he rolled his trunk directly through the tent's flap. It looked like there would hardly be space for all of their belongings, let alone them. The dorms were cozy, but if this was the whole tent, they would be getting a whole lot more comfortable with each other over the summer.

But just as he stepped inside, George halted suddenly, eyes going wide at the spectacular interior. This was like a whole personal dorm room, affording enough space for each boy to reserve their own personal area for luggage and sleeping. Really, it made him wish that they would just give up on dorms and give all the kids tents on the grounds when they got back to Hogwarts. Sadly, the tents were likely not flame-retardant, so their usefulness on Hogwarts grounds would be limited.'

"Whoa! Well - you were right," George admitted. "Now get your stuff in." The boy set his owl's cage down on top of his trunk, popping the latch open and letting Cadmus out to rest on his arm, where he could glare imperiously down at the others when they entered. "Do you think Alan's cat will get along with him? I'm not above punting that kitty away from him if he gets bitey."

Alan too had received a piece of parchment that would guide him through the big campsite next to the London Quidditch Stadium. He actually had never seen this part of London so he was quite excited. Upon arrival he had seen a small pond quite close to the camp and wondered if it would be safe to swim within it; after all there could be no summer without swimming to cool down and have fun right? Curiously his gaze would drift over the close by landscapes and he would see some small hills but mostly a big forest that framed the whole area which would give the place the hidden aspect it needed; far from muggle eyes.

As he approached the tent he could see Jake already waiting in front of it right as George entered it. As Alan pulled his trunk closer which was littered with thousands of stickers, he could hear George's voice from within the tent. His voice however was a little muffled so Alan did not catch the exact wording. On his back he was carrying a kitty backpack that was quite spacious and designed to comfortably carry around a cat. Tiger was curled up within and watching his surroundings with curious eyes. Alan was sure that he must be as excited as he was, after all it was both of their first camp out. "Hey Jake, hey George," he greeted the two of them as he slipped into the tent past Jake, ducking his head as he entered. Once within the tent he took some time to look around, his mouth gaping lightly, amazed by the interior of the tent that had seemed so little from the outside. "Wow...", he muttered after taking a second look around before he grinned at George since Jake was still outside of the tent, "It's like we are dorm mates now!"

He would carefully shrug off his backpack and place it on the ground, opening the zipper to let out the cat that after some careful sniffing around curiously left the backpack to take a look around. That was until only seconds after Tiger's attention was drawn towards a big owl. The cat's big blue eyes were drawn towards Cadmus as his tail would gently swish over the ground in anticipation to meet his new playmate. Meanwhile Alan would fold his backpack together and take a look around not sure if any of the beds had been assigned yet. The tent was quite big from the inside and equipped with a nice hardwood floor. The tent itself was divided into two parts or so it seemed. By the back of it stood four air beds covered in both blankets and cushions. They were divided from each other by slim night stands made from wood that each had a little lantern on top as well as some drawers to store personal belongings within. It seemed to allow chatting with ease while also allowing each their personal space. To the back of the room divider were two dressers that would easily store the luggage of two kids and a room divider would be perfect for some privacy but also to divide the sleeping area from the living area. A table stood there as well as a shelf filled with some books and a couple of games in case they grew bored. A carpet marked the playing area of the table as a set of four chairs were placed around a rectangular table. See-through material made allowed for a few windows within the tent but also had some curtains attached to block the view or simply darken the room.

Alan would walk over to the beds, around the room divider and take a look around. "Can I t-take th-this one?" he called out to ask the two already present badgers and pointed at one of the beds in the middle. Tiger has gotten a little bolder by now, trying to gain some attention from George who had Cadmus perched on one arm and it was then that Alan realized that George had only met the cat a couple of times but he was not worried because he knew that the feline liked the Hufflepuff. He was not so sure whether Cadmus would be all too happy about a curious and playful cat. If George decided to greet Tiger, Alan would give a soft smile. He then would watch Tiger lollop over to Jake, finding a new victim to bother and beg for attention. "Wow..." he could not help but mutter the word again, energy pumping through his veins, the troublesome and long journey here was long forgotten, replaced by the urge to explore and make this the best summer ever, this was going to be so exciting!

"Oof."

George bulled through him, and Jake went down. He had already been struggling under the weight of his overstuffed backpack, and it only took a small bump to send him toppling. The small boy wiggled his legs in the air, stuck on his back like an overturned turtle as the other boys entered the tent.

Finally, after a helping hand from Jack, Jake managed to get back upright, lugging his suitcase and backpack into the magical tent to unpack his things.

It was amazing how magic could surprise you over and over and over again. From the outside it was just a tent like any other. On the inside it might as well have been the fourth secret Hufflepuff dorm. One for just him and his best friends. He entered more quickly this time (since last time gawping got him knocked on his back), turning around to take in everything there was to see, and unable to help sticking his head back outside in case the tent had transformed from the outside as well when he wasn't looking. From the outside, still a tent. On the inside? Magic.

There were places to play, to sleep, and even games and books. There was way more room than he ever would have thought possible. He wasn't even going to need a sleeping bag. Alan said it was like they were dorm-mates, and Jake smiled. "Yeah, Alan, it's like if you were a Hufflepuff!" The last few months had been hard ones, but the excitement in the air was contagious... and Jake was finally feeling more his old self again.

Jake walked over to the sleeping half of the 'tent'. He was pleased to see the lanterns. It was probably going to be ok at night. He hadn't been afraid when he had camped in the backyard. Still, it was better safe than sorry, and he had never camped out without a grown-up before. Alan was close to that, but not quite.

"Can I go here...?" Jake asked, looking hopefully at the middle bed next to Alan's. He would give it up if Jack or George wanted it instead, but having two of his tent-mates surrounding him sounded a lot better than one. Being next to Alan would be nice, because he was the oldest. He quietly hoped that he would be near George's bed too, because that was how it was at Hogwarts, and being far from him just felt wrong. But if he wasn't next to George, then he'd be next to Jack, and that was good too. Jack was strong and brave, though as his bunk buddy it had mostly been George that Jake had gone to at school when he'd got scared at night.

Jake plopped himself down on the hardwood floor, resting after all of the carrying and pulling he'd done getting his things here. It was there that Alan's cat found him. "Hi there Tiger," Jake greeted, reaching a gentle hand out towards the cat. Tiger would soon learn that the smallest badger was a good source of attention - Jake would always make time for him. Cadmus was stretching his wings too, atop George's arm. Jake knew that George was only joking about punting the kitty (how could he not be?), but it WAS a good point about the two animals.

"I can babysit!" Jake chirped. "I always babysit Cadmus," he pointed out. "I can make sure they get along." There were bound to be a lot of summer activities which were supposed to be fun, but involved a lot of the other kids so probably wouldn't be very much. Watching Tiger and Cadmus sounded a lot funner. Jake was good with animals, and plus, it made him feel useful, since he still spent most of his time at Hogwarts being babysat himself.

Slowly, Jake began to unpack his things, placing his clothes as neatly as he could in the bottom drawer of a dresser, and then his camp items too. The night-stand got his latest Nelly the Niffler adventure book that he had been graciously allowed to borrow from the library for some summer reading. Then, he took out Freddie, Stripey, and Patches, placing them carefully on his newly-claimed bed.
