Paisley had decided she was going to spend part of her day getting ahead of the game on studies. Contrary to what she might seem like, the girl didn’t actually enjoy studying, though she did enjoy a good book. In fact, there were plenty of other things she’d rather do. But, alas, she had a bigger picture in mind and it did require her to waste away her days mulling over words on a page.

She emerged from her tent, A History of Magic and a notebook tucked under her arm and a bottle of water and a hand-fan in the other. It was nice and toasty outside, and while the tents had been charmed to remain cool on the inside she still didn’t fancy being cooped up. So, instead, she made a path towards the outskirts of the camp. Her hair was tied back in a high ponytail and she wore a pair of denim shorts, a navy tank-top and her typical black high-tops. Chocolate eyes scanned the tree-line, searching for the perfect arbre to sprawl beneath.

A little way down she found a huge oak, its branches spreading high and wide to provide ample shade at its gnarled roots. Tucking herself into the base on a soft patch of mossy grass, she pried open her textbook to the first chapter, dipped her quill into her bottle of ink, and began to take notes.

Miranda was concentrating on a new book she'd recently been sent as a gift from her parents, in a rare moment of kindness on their behalf. She was sitting in her normal spot for reading at the Stadium, high up in the branches of a large oak. The habit of reading in trees was an old one, and not one she regretted creating. It was much more peaceful up there, since all the action went on down on the ground, and almost never made its way up into the air. She felt as if she could leave all her worries behind and simply absorb new information.

With a sigh, she shifted slightly and winced at the harsh scraping noise of her bracelet rubbing against the bark. Miranda sighed, then returned to reading.

A sudden noise below her made her close the book - careful to insert a finger into her spot so as not to lose it - and glance down. The mass of branches between her and the ground made it hard to make anything out, but she still caught a flash of paper and dark brown hair.

"Hello?" Miranda called, still peering down through the branches. "Who's there?"

Hot.

Scolding. Burning.

As Remi took a heaving inhale, in-taking the major heat of today. Remi didn't deal good with heat, even with cooling charms on his clothing to make it feel like a bearable mid seventies Fahrenheit or 24 Celsius which wasn't the problem. It was this damn moisture in the air, he couldn't stand it. It made him all stinky like melted sugar was on his face.

Walking around in his black shorts and with a simple white T-shirt on. He appeared to just come out of one of the tents early but once Remi looked upon over yonder, he saw this tall girl sitting near by the tree.

"I-Is she... Studying? Who studies in the summer?"
He muttered to himself, believing that the summer months were for fun, not wasting away as you read the brick known as A History of Magic.

Taking his hand and wiping it over his face as he could feel sweat starting to bead onto his forehead, maybe the girl did have it right. Not with the studying but with the staying under the shade and avoiding the sun's rays.

Walking closer as he shouted from a distance,
"Hey!"
He gave a rather rambunctious wave, trying to get her attention,
"What are you doing just studying at a time like this? I'm Remi, first year. I'm guessing you're the same year with that brick you're holding."
Said the boy, now a couple of feet away from her and trying to peer at her book, nosily.
"Haven't seen you around? You got a name?"
Giving the old 'Syl-greeting'.

And that would have just been that before noticing another person who appeared to be ontop of the tree, within the branches. Remi always wanted to learn how to climb trees but those were such muggles acts. Plus, it hurt his skin anytime he tried to do it.

Miranda was distracted from her questions by another, much louder voice that seemed to be getting nearer. Seriously? she wondered. How loud can one person get? I think he's almost as loud as that Erumpent my parents took care of last summer. And that's saying something.

It took her a moment, but she finally spotted a boy with chocolate-colored skin walking towards their tree.

Well there goes my peace and quiet, she thought dryly, sliding a bookmark into her book and removing her finger. Now I either find a new tree or give up on reading for today.

Deciding against a new tree, she peered back through the branches at the newcomer. "Who are you?" Miranda snapped, annoyed that her reading had been interrupted. Nothing made her grumpier than that, although she was normally much more easy-going. But with the full moon having just passed and all, her nerves were a bit frayed.

I hope he ends up being interesting, she thought with a sigh. Otherwise I'm going to be annoyed for the rest of the day. You'd think people would know better than to interupt a reader. Alas, some people never learn.

Miranda grimaced at the odd word choice she'd used, and shot a disgruntled look at the book she was reading. It always seemed to happen that when she read classics, her word choice changed for a while to more old-timey speech.

Them vibes.

Pure-blood vibes or... Maybe it was something else, but it was a strong feeling.

He noticed with the muggle-born that they had a lot of traditions and references to Muggle culture, like one girl was talking about a movie star who played in their movies. Action, he assumed. Or constant talks about the internet while Remi's family, being traditional as they were, came around just recently as they bought the boy a flip-phone from some sale somewhere. Owls, of course, are out-dated in terms of speed compared to a phone but at least you could use your owl in magical areas instead of technology. Worthless. That's why that said flip-phone is at his ma' and pa's house, in his bedroom drawer.

Half-bloods were very much different, however. The duality of knowing about Muggle customs and Wizarding lore which, at times, made Remi jealous. Being awkward in social situations always gave him this gut-feeling of despair and overall doom. Maybe he's the youngest of his siblings and loves attention or maybe he was just socially needy, down to his roots.
"Who are you?"
Blinked for a moment, realizing he said his real name,
"Remius. S-sorry, I always miss that part, heh..."
He lied, oafishly not following up on his own made-up name. But he tried to brush past that point.
"And someone's a bit crabby."
He jested without smiling, almost as if he was testing the waters with this person. Or atleast, not right away.

A smile slowly formed on Remi's face,
"Now, what's yours? Come from any special wizarding family?"
Taking his chance to go for his hunch about her being a pure-blood, stressing on the word special, trying to see if that would generate a reaction or not.

Interacting with @Remi Yao
"Remi," the boy answered, then quickly corrected himself. "Remius. S-sorry, I always miss that part, heh..."

Miranda felt like something was off, but it didn't matter to her much anyways. Why would anyone care what their name was, anyways? Well, unless someone called them something insulting. She could understand that.

"And someone's a bit crabby," Remius continued, which made Miranda narrow her eyes at him.

"You'd be crabby too if someone who obviously doesn't have a lot of sense came and interrupted you while you were reading a good book," she replied sharply, her annoyance spiking at the smile that slowly spread across his face.

"Now, what's yours? Come from any special wizarding family?" he asked. Miranda wondered at his emphasize on special, but couldn't figure it out.

What a weird person, she thought. "I'm Miranda. And what the heck do you mean by special? My parents don't work for the ministry, if that's what you mean."

In reality, she had a good idea of what he meant by that, but kept her suspicions to herself. Some of her friends were half-bloods or muggle-borns. Just because someone was a pure-blood didn't mean they were better. It was their personality and their virtues that actually counted.

Peace. She was sure she’d found a place of peace to be left alone, but apparently it wasn’t to be. A voice called out and she chose to ignore it, sure that they couldn’t be talking to her. After a moment, however, a pair of shoes entered her field of vision and the voice spoke again. She stifled the sigh that threatened to come from her mouth, looking up from her book and notes to find an ebony skinned boy peering nosily at her. He spoke a lot, so she waited patiently for him to finish. When he was done, she opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by the voice of another. A voice that was, curiously, coming from above.

Both her and the boy’s attention turned upward and she spied a blond-haired girl peeking down from the branches. Her brows rose, startled that she hadn’t noticed her before when she’d settled down. She shot them, particularly the noisy boy, with a positively venomous look and her chocolate gaze traveled to spy the book in her hand. Ah, that made sense. It seemed she’d been interrupted as well.

The two bantered back and forth, the boy introducing himself as Remius and the girl as Miranda. The boy asked about her family in a manner that she’d heard far too many times in her life from her own family. “Oh, so you’re from that Bellweather branch”, “You’re part of them that mucked it all up,” or “Such a shame from such a proud, successful line.” She’d heard them from the time that she was a young child, when they’d still been going to family functions and her aunts and uncles had kept her cousins from playing with her and Percival. As if they’d catch something from the squib and the half-blood.

She closed her book with a loud thump and stood up.

“My name is Paisley, and I don’t think last names have much to do with anything. You can be a phenomenal witch or wizard as a muggle-born and an absolutely horrendous one as a pure-blood,” she stated, chocolate eyes looking directly at Remius. There was nothing aggressive in her posture, in fact she was rather relaxed. Her expression, however, was firm.

As the two girls looked actually exasperated by Remi talking to them and it was starting to make his ears red, and even calling the girl 'crabby'.

Miranda and Paisley, unworried about the topic of blood purity and Remi wished he could do the same thing. It wasn't even a topic that he didn't like talking about with his father as he would go on and on about it, being so dead-set on having a dislike with muggles and sadly, extension Muggle-borns. There's a lot of thing Remi disagreed with his dad's opinions and thankfully, his mother thought the same way like he did.

But, in a pure-blood household, somebody gets mad at something and blame it on Muggles off-handedly and very often too.

Remi puffed his cheeks, focusing his breath.
'I'm doing the same thing papa does. I didn't mean to come across like that though...'
Muttering to himself as he closed his eyes for a moment.
"You're not crabby, Miranda."
He said, sighing as he admitted fault,
"Papa said I should treat people with respect so sorry."
His mouth looked abit strained.
"However."
He smiled widely,
"I'll be known in the future, trust me. I have an idea of what I'mma do in the future. If I'm not a phe-nome-nal wizard with the education at Hogwarts, I screwed up big time."
He nodded his head, sounding out the word 'phenomenal' and looking knowledgeable about his future even though he didn't know...
"Paisley and Miranda, can I restart and start off on a good foot?"
He looked at the both of them, waiting for an answer as his eyes looked eagerly, hoping they would accept his apology.

Macie Winkle had been Outside sitting under a huge oak tree since early morning, The spot the young witch sat was behind a few bushes so anyone walking past would only see the shrub it was a good place to read her favorite book, a book about the Ghosts of Hogwarts, as Macie was reading she heard voices from the other side of the tree and was rather Annoyed at first as one of the voices was quite Loud. Macie tried her best to ignore the voices as she did not want to have anyone know of her special place.

But soon she could no longer ignore the voices and the young Slytherin snapped her book shut loudly after making sure to bend one corner down so she could find her place again with Ease. Macie then poked her head out Just looked around with an annoyed expression, Hoping the others would go and let her read in peace as she was still not good at socializing she preferred to be alone most of the time.

Macie was not sure how to interact with these other people so she did not speak out to let them know she was their just instead watches them from behind the tree unseen, She hoped no one would notice her any time soon, Macie wore a cute little outfit her mother had sewn in her spare time.

The even way Paisley spoke impressed Miranda, who knew she could never pull off something so calm if someone said something like that about her bloodline. She’d always been quick to anger, which wasn’t something she was proud of, but something she saw as unchangeable.

Her attention shifted to the boy as he started talking again, with a slightly less antagonistically loud voice this time. How can anyone that speaks that loud ever see any of the truly amazing things in life? she wondered briefly. He’ll scare off all the animals he comes close too, and there’s nothing more magnificent than nature.

Miranda still looked quite annoyed by the time Remius finished, but she ended up by shrugging her shoulders in indifference. “Fine. But don’t think that means I like you, whether you think I’m crabby or not. Anyone who interrupts someone’s reading deserves to be yelled at, if you ask me.”

She glanced down at Paisley, who was watching Remius calmly, then at her book again, before sighing. Well, that’s the end of my reading for today.

From her heightened vantage, she spotted a flash of movement between several bushes, but paid no attention to it. It’s probably just a frightened rabbit or a mouse, she reasoned.
