~The Tent~ ~The Tenants~ From the outside, one wold think that they stand in front of a normal muggle tent with thin white walls, made for about six or seven people, if everyone is meant to be able to stay comfortable, otherwise about ten to twelve squeezed together. That impression is gone when entering. In the area right behind the entry are multiple armchairs, a sofa and some small tables. A few meters behind those are two desks, pushed to each of the walls, possibly to write letters or work ahead for the next school year. In the back of the tent are two 'bedrooms', seperated by a tent wall, which can be removed but is useful for those, who seek a moment of privacy. In each of the rooms are two bunkbeds as well as one single bed, possibly one room for girls and one for boys. Furthermore each room has a few tables with enough space to fit a trunk under. The whole inside of the tent is in light yellow and brown colours, giving the tent a warm atmosphere. At night, the only light comes from a few candles, which are not dangerous with the protection spells on the tent. - Karilyna Kawahara @Thora Larkston

Theodore was excited. The young Thunderbird had never left his state, leave alone his continent before, so this was one amazing adventure to him.
His excitement had made the long way to London pure torture, but it was worth it. Two more wizard schools were here, wasn't that amazing? He totally had to write to his sister Ana about it.
Theo, who was one of the rather rare muggleborns at his school, had only heard of the existence of magic a year ago, and not really considered the possibility, that there could be an actual magical system all over the world, hidden like the one he lived in. It still, after all those months, seemed a little surreal. He was the only one of the four Duncain children that wad magical. For his younger twinbrothers, it had not been so hard. They lived their perfect little life in the no-maj world, but it had been harder for his sister, the person he was the closest to.
But Theo would not feel bad about it today. This was his gift and he would enjoy it.
The twelve year old had lost his friend Rett after they arrived, but that was okay. Theo didn't need to be in one tent with him, he would make sure that his friend didn't miss him.
His choice of a tent was rather randomly, as he would likely not spend a lot of time in it. Theo wanted to meet some people from the other schools. Maybe he could find some friends to send letters to when he went back home! And then visit them in the holidays.
The boy hesitated a bit before entering his chosen tent. It looked very normal, like the tent that he used to sleep in, when he was camping with his family. Maybe for four or five people, rather four if it was meant to be comfortable.
When he entered the tent, he was not really surprised. Excited, but not surprised. Of course there would be spells on them, how else would they fit the maximum of ten people into one...
He slowly walked through the tent, and chose the single bed in the bedroom on the left. Maybe there would be some people, who decided to join him spontanuously?

Things couldn't be better. School was out. Phyllis didn't have to go home to her mother, for awhile at least. Quidditch was on the menu. So long as those Hogwarts students didn't summon fires or half-giants or anything, what could go wrong?
Right now, all she needed was a tent. She didn't really care what tent so long as she was with KK, but they did need to find one. And soon. The sun was going down fast, and as fearless as she was, the redhead wasn't a huge fan of the dark. A bunch of Ilvermorny tents were already claimed and some kids weren't too thrilled when they poked their heads in to check for residents. One kid even lobbed a dirty sock at her face. That was what she got for trying to sneak off to the Quidditch Stadium, arguing with a teacher for several minutes that she just wanted a better look, and nearly landing herself in summer camp detention. Already.
Oh well. At least she hadn't actually gotten that detention, though the sock was nasty. Phyllis didn't have much of a choice but to keep looking, so with a silent prayer no dirty socks--or worse--hit her in the face, she checked the next tent.
This one wasn't too different from the others--they were all more or less the same--but looked pretty cozy. Sofas were always nice. What really caught her eye was the company. "Theodore! Hey." She couldn't claim to be close to the taller boy, but they knew each other. Same House and Year and all. Every class together. They'd (probably) chatted a few times, too. He was alone, meaning there would likely be a spot for her and KK to stay. This seemed a good a place as any, and sure, they could find a totally empty tent, but as fun as her partner in crime was, the more people, the better.
First things first, find out if they could stay before moving in. "Mind if we join your tent? So long as you're not maxed already, 'course." If this tent had 10 people in it, she'd be surprised. I mean, nine people couldn't all be that slow, could they?

Roleplaying as Ilvermorny iNPC Karilyna Kawahara
Interactions: Theodore Duncain @Opeila Seilun and Phylicia Stanwood @Bridget Collins
Being overseas was amazing--no, simply being away from home was amazing. Karilyna was very much pureblood, with wizardry in her blood as far as it was traceable, and though she'd relocated to America upon being orphaned, the adoptive parents who had taken her in were wizards as well. Though it would've sounded like an optimal alternative, it had always seemed like she was halfway between two worlds--and in more ways than one. Her biological relatives remained in Japan while she grew up an American, and although she was perfectly aware of her magical background and the difference between her and those she was surrounded with, her adoptive parents had basically forced her to carry out life like a no-maj. It wasn't inherently bad, especially since knowing somewhat what it felt like to be a no-maj proved helpful when she began attending Ilvermorny, but it was still a pain. Endless drills about what she could and couldn't do? Bleh.
It would be fair to say that Karilyna had been a lot happier ever since she'd gone to Ilvermorny. No longer was she ruled by her parents' wishes, and no longer did she have to force herself to hold her tongue concerning all those magic-related questions whirling about in that head of hers. Though she couldn't exactly do as she pleased, since the school probably would've burned down a long time ago if there weren't rules, there was a sense of freedom she'd never felt before as she went about her day.
As her first year at the school had drawn to a close, the girl's typically sunny disposition had seen a nosedive. She didn't want to go home. Her home situation back in Arizona probably wasn't at all worse than others', in all honesty, but Karilyna was dramatic to a fault. For her, it was torture. Her only consolation had been her report card--though her adoptive father certainly wouldn't be happy with anything less than straight O's, at least all of her end-of-term marks had been satisfactory. Still, there was little happiness regarding the subject as the last day of the term had approached.
But Quidditch had saved the day. When an opportunity had suddenly arisen to travel to London, to see not just Hogwarts students, but possibly meet some from Durmstrang as well, and to watch a Quidditch game, Karilyna had signed up without a second thought. Forget owling her parents for permission. It wasn't really like they cared what she got herself into--honestly, they'd probably ought to be grateful she hadn't gotten herself into more than her three detentions--and besides, they'd just assume she had stayed over the summer. Well, she wasn't anywhere near Massachusetts, but at least she was still in Ilvermorny's care. Same thing. Besides, if her parents ended up sending the old, ugly family owl, Karilyna could just say she was doing fine. Wasn't that what she always said?
Anyways, now, to find herself wandering around the place she'd be staying with plenty of other people was almost unreal. Bliss. She didn't care that she was among mostly strangers--it was like that every day of her life, and she could always meet people later. She didn't have to go home yet, her best friend was right beside her, there was going to be a Quidditch match--in her own words, she was hyped. It was a pity it wasn't Ilvermorny who was playing so she could have a shot, but whatever, watching was already great fun.
Unfortunately, the game would have to wait. They'd just arrived, Karilyna had nearly gotten lost in a foreign landscape amongst tall, scary people, and she didn't know where to go. She did know they were supposed to find a tent, where they'd be living for the duration of their stay, but how were you supposed to find a tent with people you knew? She was acquainted with most of the Ilvermorny students who'd come, and she was right on Phyllis' heels, but there were a whole lot of tents here, all probably occupied by scary bigger kids she wouldn't be able to remember from classes. She wouldn't have too much of a problem waltzing in to see if a tent was occupied, but she certainly couldn't assume the same of potential occupants.
It wasn't at all the ideal thing to do, but was there really another choice?
So, following Phyllis' example, off she went, right hand tugging on the left sleeve of her mustard yellow t-shirt as she did so. A raven head was poked into the first tent, only to be hastily pulled back out as her brown eyes were met with hostile ones. Definitely not a good idea, then. Where were the other Ilvermorny kids when she needed them? She propelled herself forward faster, about to nudge her best friend when she apparently found an potential accommodation. Karilyna poked her head through the door, brown eyes scanning the appealing assortment of furniture and the like inside of the tent. Having been around magic her entire life, the expansive interior wasn't exactly surprising, but even so, it was a sight to behold and the girl immediately brightened up, conveniently forgetting the past failures of tent-hunting.
The very tall boy in the tent was familiar to Karilyna, though she had to rack her brain for a moment to recall his name. It wasn't that she had a terrible memory--although it could certainly be better--but it was just that there were so many people to remember, given how much she enjoyed meandering about in her free time, getting to know people and whatnot. Now, she wasn't at all popular, nor did she care about the fact, but she tended to get along well with those who looked past her terrible presence the weird aura that seemed to always be swirling about her (though she didn't exactly know).
Duncain. Theodore Duncain. The name only took a second to remember--and right before Phyllis greeted the boy. He was a Thunderbird first year, like herself, so there was no doubt they'd met somewhere before. Sidestepping so she was under the doorframe, Karilyna peered straight up at the brown-haired boy. "'Ello, I'm Karilyna. Last name's Kawahara. Nickname's whatever the last thing Phyllis came up with is." With the introduction, she broke out into a grin, eyes lighting up. "It's great to meet you."
The longer she stood, the deeper her height disadvantage sank in. It was already bad enough, being around Phyllis all the time, since the redhead had a good eight inches or so on her. But now? She felt like a literal dwarf, compared to Duncain, who had to be a foot taller than her or something [OOC: Karilyna's barely 4'5"]. Maybe she was a dwarf. Honestly, it was an interesting thought while it lasted.

Ever since the trip to London was announced,Carol's grandmother began to warn her about all the 'monsters' she might come across with 'That terrible school coming', of course though, the young serpent knew her Ammi was simply speaking about Hogwarts, the very school Carol was secretly rooting for in the Hufflepuff v. Durmstrang match. Whenever her grandmother mentioned Hogwarts, you would never find the woman saying the most flattering things, with most of those 'flattering' descriptions of the other magic school stuck in her head, Caroline often didn't know what to think when it came to Hogwarts and its mostly open-minded ways. As the witch tried to stop her deep thoughts on the way to a seemingly empty tent, she couldn't help but hope it'd be actually empty as to avoid many interactions. Though unfortunately, that didn't happen, and the tent already had most of her 'room-mates' chitting and chatting together. To be specific, there happened to be a tall brown haired boy talking with another second year girl while yay.. another girl come along, except this time she seems quite short compared to the boy.
"Erm..Who's in charge of this tent?"Caroline asked the little group bluntly,"I don't have all day y'know."The serpent added coldly. Didn't people understand that there was actual fun to be had outside? Actual fun that didn't require socializing? It's not like anyone would want to sit inside a tent all day, so how come these people wanted to?As Carol began to tap her foot rapidly against the floor she kept getting more impatient by the second. The serpent quickly checked her jean pocket out of habit. Her most precious possession, the 11.2 inch, ebony wood, and Thunderbird Feather core wand that just happened to be passed down all the way from her great-great-great grandmother."Lumos.."Carol said quietly to the wand.A small light was at the tip of it now, and even though it still felt like ages ago, Caroline felt the same awe she felt when her mother had used the lighting charm in front of her for the first time all those years ago.Just as a small smile appeared on her face, the serpent snapped back from the little flashback as she added a quick,"Nox."to her wand, still waiting to be addressed by the other students.

Robin Wakefield
Robin walked into the tent, mildly frustrated that the first few tents she had tried were already full. She just wanted to set her stuff down, and get this over with. She glanced around, noticing the two areas sectioned off in the back. Well that was nice, she could actually have some privacy. There were also other people already in here, one of which was using lumos. She watched as the girl used nox to put out the light. Okay then, that was strange. She switched her attention to the three who were talking with each other, maybe they knew eachother? Robin set her stuff down and took off the jacket she wore, folding it and resting it on top of her bag. It was a lot colder here than she was used to, even if it was summer. Texas heat was something she had grown used to, considering it had been at the high 90's for the past month. So the sudden switch from near 100 to mid 70's was throwing her off. She knew that it wasn't really all that chilly, but it sure felt like it.
Robin let out a sigh, knowing she would probably need to at least introduce herself to these people. They were going to be living with each other after all. Well, hopefully. "Robin Wakefield, I'm guessing the tent isn't full yet?" she questioned the group. She really didn't want to have to go searching for a tent again, it was getting annoying. A random thought came to mind, something she was curious about. "Where are ya'll from?" she asked, her accent becoming more prominent for a second. Usually, her accent was pretty invisible. Not as thick as someone would likely assume. But sometimes certain words or sentences liked to make it show up, which was always slightly annoying. Robin waited for their answer, wondering what state some of them were from. Who knows, maybe there was another Texan. That would be a treat, it was unlikely though.

Theodore had just place his stuff next to one bed when he heard a girl's voice say his name. He turned around, to see to other Ilvermorny girls enter the tent. He knew both of them briefly as they were in the same house, but that was about it. Still it surprised him that Karilyna introduced herself to him. As housemembers for a year now, he knew their names. Even Phyllis' nickname, which he would immediately use. "Phyllis, Karilyna, hey. Sure, I'm not maxed out yet, feel free to join. Also, you can sgo with Theo, if you like, I mean, who needs doors..." With a grin he added "Rett somehow managed to escape me and something tells me he'll stay gone until everyone is settled."
Another girl entered, this one was not a Thunderbird. Theo had to hold back a chuckle, when she first asked who was in charge of the tent and then said that she didn't have all day. Her speech reminded him of Rett a little. Was she a Horned Serpent as well? It would not surprise him. When she started to play around with her wand, he looked at the other two girls for a second, before answering. "Well nice to meet you too, nameless girl, I am Theo. As for who is in charge, I was the first in here, but I was not aware that it would put me in charge... But I mean, if you insist..." He jumped on his bed, smirking. "So I guess we still have some space here. And why the rush?"
A fourth girl walked into the tent- it looked like Theodore would live in a girls' tent for the next week- and introduced herself as Robin Wakefield. "Theo Duncain and no, we still have space.", he said and smiled at her. "Um, I'm from Seward, Alaska.", he told her, when she asked where they were all from. "How 'bout you?"

Yes. Finally a tent they could stay in, and with someone friendly. No stinky socks in her face either. "Theo. You got it. And her current nickname's KK, but honestly call her whatever you want. Shorty, Miniature Human, Shrimp..." she laughed, half-expecting an elbow from her friend. It was all in good fun, of course, just a light jab at her bestie's height. "Or you know, Karilyna if you like saying that many syllables. It's also a complete pain to spell..."
The talkative girl's spiel was cut short by another arrival who really killed the mood. Haven't got all day? She could've at least given them a second to reply. Well, looks like they were going to be stuck with her a few weeks, but it'd be fine. Phyllis would make it work, although her way of making it work probably would drive the girl crazy. "Yep, we've got room. I'm Phyllis. So, what is your name? Might want to offer it up soon, cuz it's that or a nickname..." Yeah, she probably wouldn't like one of Phyllis' nicknames, but she had to have some sort of name.
Yet another girl walked in, and while she too didn't have Phyllis' energy or enthusiasm, she at least wasn't so rude and completely disinterested. Plus, she had a cool accent, so that made up for it. "Hey, Robin! Nice to meet you, I'm Phyllis. I'm from here originally, but now I live in Canada. Still not really American, but yeah."

Caroline hadn't payed much attention to this new girl walking in, but as the boy "Theo", made his own introduction to "nameless girl",hearing the one called "Phyllis" want to nickname Caroline, the serpent probably made an exspresion like this:
Not even waiting for either to respond, Carol gladly stood up strait as she said in a matter-of-fact tone,"The name is Caroline,"The serpent began."Caroline C. Belindez, though I'd prefer you'd call me Carol."She finished. "If you must know, I just want to get the tent-mate thing over with, plus, I heard we can interact with some of those foriegners soon."Caroline added quickly, though there weren't any windows in the tent, she had the small feeling of the sun setting already, what if she missed the marsh-mallows? No- That was not an option today. As soon as this tent business was over, she would leave the dang place to hear the ridiculousness of a fellow 1st year's epic tale.
Finally remembering the fact other people were in the 'room', Caroline looked back at the new girl, this one named Robin, then back at the growing group of Ilvermorny students. "Right.. I'm from Cali."Caroline said with terrible pride. How could she not be proud of her So-Cal roots though? It was where the girl had been born and raised, but every once-in-a-while Carol's mind would wonder what life would have been like if she had lived with her father in Louisiana. "Different" She thought with a sad smile on her face,"It'd sure be different."Trying her best not seem over emotional, Carol grabbed her wand from the back pocket of her jeans to fiddle-with behind her back. Whenever she was stressed, Carol's tight grasp of the wand always seemed to pull her back to reality. Hopefully she wouldn't fiddle with it a lot this summer...

It was a huge relief that there was still room, no more walking around and searching for her. Robin Listened as the group introduced themselves, making a mental note of their names. Theo being from Alaska was unexpected, not that many people lived there. It was a huge state and bigger than Texas, but it wasn't very livable. Maybe she would ask them about it later. Phyllis was apparently originally from England, but was living in Canada. Robin wondered what it would be like to move into a different country, probably really frustrating. The other girl had said that her name was Caroline, or Carol if Robin used nicknames. Carol was Californian, and was proud of it. That didn't really bother Robin as she had plenty of her own state pride. There was one other person that hadn't introduced themselves yet, but Robin figured that she would find out eventually. "I'm from Texas, up near Dallas," she told the group. She didn't really bother telling them her actual city, it wasn't very likely any of them would know it.
Most people would only recognize the names of Dallas, Austin, and Houston. To be fair to most people, two were major cities and one was the state capital. Robin sighed and readied herself, knowing that soon the questions would come in. Every time she mentioned her state, there was always that one person that would ask about it. But not about normal stuff like weather, or what the food is like, or even what city they live in. It's almost always stupid stuff like, do you ride horses to school? Where do people even get that idea from, do they think Texans don't have cars? At this point, Robin just accepted that it was going to happen. So instead of letting it catch her off guard and bother her, she had the replies already set in her head. She sighed softly and hoped that the final girl would introduce herself, saving herself from some annoyance and frustration.

Legit, I've had people ask me if I ride horses to school and if we have electronics. Another common one is if Texas is really a huge desert, or if we live on a ranch. We expect the questions. So if any of you want to ask about a Texan stereotype, go right ahead.
