A Rude Awakening

Date: July 7th, 2020
Time: Late Morning
Stiff limbs stretched out and an audible, "Ahhyooahhaaaa," was heard throughout the tent as he turned his body around on the couch that he had passed out on the previous night. It was late morning before he managed to even make a move from the sprawled out position he had formed himself into upon the comfortable sofa, it was typical of him thus far with having no classes to wake up and worry about, also, no prefects to yell at him if he overslept. With his one leg clearly dangling off the couches side and the other draped over the back of the couch, he was properly looking like a starfish in his position with a blanket half falling off of his body. What he didn't know though was the fact that Dee was about to give him a rude awakening, which honestly, he wouldn't mind from his friend.
A flagon of iced water was unceremoniously poured over the top of his exposed head, his hanging open mouth catching a lot of the liquid as it coated the upper half of his body, "What the f-," he spluttered, arms and legs flailing upwards and around as he was shocked to an awaken state. Golden eyes scanned around to see a girl hovering above him and staring down at him with that look that she always seemed to give him, "Princess," he said, a hand shifting up to wipe the water from across his face, "what..." he decided not to even question her actions. Shaking his head and running his fingers through his wet hair for a moment, he'd push himself into a sitting position and lean back against the couch as he looked over towards the girl, clearly, she was bored, and he offered her a smile as he appraised her for a moment.
Standing then, he gave a little shake to his head once more trying to cast the sleep away and he moved over towards where his actual bed was to throw on a simple tight v-neck plain shirt. Looking back to Dee, he smiled, "Hungry?" he questioned as he quickly moved about to at least do a quick teeth brush before he'd venture out for a little while at least. Zykeal had fallen asleep with just the pair of jeans on and he was still comfortable wearing such for the time being, at least getting some food before fully committing to being a reasonable member of the wizarding society. The ivory-colored wand would be stuck between the waistband of his jeans, letting its hilt push back the bottom of his shirt so it'd be easily accessible if needed.
Dealla would be appraised once more as he walked over towards her, a wicked little grin upon his face as he approached the girl, "Let's grab some grub," he said, lifting his hand up to shake the top of his head, letting the water still within it be cast out in the direction of his friend. Regardless of how she'd react to that, he'd reach out and grasp for her hand, dragging her out of the tent before he could even cast a look around to see what the rest of the mates were up too at the time being. Instead of being with the group this morning, he figured he'd spend the morning with her alone, and seeing how she had woken him up, she deserved to get annoyed by him for the next few hours.

@Zykeal Lane
Permission received to have @Ileen Knight sleeping peacefully while Dee causes chaos
It shouldn't be a surprise, seeing as the stargazing last night had dragged out much later than they were used to being up, that it was a rather slow morning. Everyone in the tent had either still been sleeping or already been gone when Dee had woken up, earlier than expected, and been unable to fall back asleep even for a minute.
She'd given up after a while and just gotten up and dressed, and then... She had tried. She had tried being quiet, and waiting for Ileen to wake up, given her very best, she'd say. Dee had even sat down at the table and written a letter to her parents, but that only kept her busy for a few minutes. And well, patience had never been Dee's strong suit.
Zykeal made an easy target, no doubt. He was sleeping on the couch - who did that? There was a perfectly fine bed available for him? - draped over it like limp spaghetti, and made absolutely ridiculous yawning noises in his sleep, his mouth half-open. As she approached with a jug of cold water in her hands, she justified what she was about to do with the fact that he would undoubtedly wake up Ileen if he didn't stop yawning soon, so what else was she supposed to do about it? Wake him up like a normal person? Certainly not. Might as well make it entertaining.
It was somehow enormously satisfying to watch him splutter and flail after she tipped the cold water over his head, and she barely managed to keep from bursting out in a fit of laughter that would certainly have woken up anyone who was still managing to sleep in this tent. Instead, she gave him a challenging look, one eyebrow raised and her blue eyes sparkling with amusement.
To her disappointment, Zyk seemed to stop himself halfway into demanding an explanation, and instead sat up, smiling at her.
Smiling wasn't the reaction she'd expected or going for, and she made a face at him before turning away to set down the jug. Percival would have given her a much more fun reaction for sure - but also one that would maybe have resulted in murder, and Zyk had shown himself to be a lot more amenable to her antics so far.
This time didn't seem to be any different, because it sounded like he was simply getting up to get dressed, and when he asked if she was hungry, she realized that, yes, in fact, she was. While she wasn't a terribly early riser, this was late even for her, and her stomach was starting to complain about the distinct lack of food since last night's jelly slugs, so she turned around, a reply already on her lips, just in time to be spattered with dozens of tiny water drops as Zykeal shook himself like a wet dog.
"Wh-" she started, spluttering in indignation while wiping her right sleeve over her face, but before she'd even gotten the whole word out, Zykeal had taken her free hand and was pulling her out of the tent.
"Hey!" she complained, feigning outrage. "I was waiting for Ileen to wake up!"
But, well. Not that she'd ever admit it, but she'd been bored out of her mind already, and spending time with Zyk wasn't the worst thing in the world. Ileen could take care of herself.

Time: Late Morning
Activity: Eating | Banter
With her hand within his, he rushed them out of the tent into the bright morning sky of the campgrounds of the London quidditch stadium. The freehand of his came up to block the sunlight that glared into his eyes and caused him to squint for a moment. Shaking his head for a moment to adjust to the light of the day, he looked over to Dee who spoke up about Ileen, "She'll be fine, dork," he jested in a friendly way, hoping she wouldn't take it as an insult. A tug would be given and he'd pull her along down the line of tents that were set up. A bright smile was blanketed across his face as he looked at the wizarding community that surrounded them, all bustling about, the festivities surely making their presence known as the match they all had gathered for drew closer. A few waves were made to those he didn't even know, he just felt like being friendly.
After a few moments of walking past a few other students and tents, he noticed that the two had gotten a few weird glances and he blushed a little as he realized he was still holding his friend's hand. Letting it go then, he gave a quick glance over to Dee, "My bad," he offered, a playful smirk gracing his features. Looking back to where they were going, he was still trying to get the lay of the land and could barely remember where they could even grab some food for this late morning. A few twists and turns would be made before he let out a "Bingo!" he exclaimed, "Hope they got some Boxties," he followed up, referring to his favorite home dish his mom would throw together for him in the mornings before she left for work.
The hand that once held hers reached out and grasped her hand once more, pulling her along with him, excitedly wanting to get to the food and stuff his face. It was sort of obvious that he was trying to distract himself with simple things, like eating, to avoid any thoughts or discussion of the previous night's events. Dee was a good distraction, he considered her a friend, even if she didn't reciprocate the feeling, Zyk would do his best to change the girl's mind. After all, his personality seemed infectious to those he subconsciously thought to be worth his time. Pulling her up to one of the free tables that were set up at the pavilion where some people were still milling about and eating their food, he'd pull out a bench and playfully guide Dee to the seat, "My Princess, your seat is here," he bowed mockingly as he relinquished her hand once more.
Once she had taken her seat, he'd go ahead and hop on over to the opposite side of her and settle himself down on the bench there. Utensils were scattered across the table and he snatched himself a fork and a knife in each of his hands then settle his clenched hands upon the table, utensils raised upwards and he nearly shouted, "Boxties and..." he thought for a second, "Orange juice!" he exclaimed. Zyk loved house-elves, they were the best and this fact was clearly justified as what he asked for was suddenly produced in front of him. Golden irises peeked back up at Dee and he couldn't help but smile over towards the girl, "Love, I'm starving, get some food," he said, trying to wait for her to get some as well before he literally would devour his dish and request seconds.

@Zykeal Lane
Dee blinked at the sudden force of sunlight shining down upon them. It really was late - but there weren't any activities planned today, so it didn't matter. There was nothing to be late for.
She rolled her eyes at Zykeal's teasing, but smiled, her eyes sparkling brightly. "Of course she'll be fine. She's my best friend - that position has some standards, you know? Not just anybody can be my best friend."
She didn't really mind being pulled along, either. While she still wasn't quite sure what they were doing, or why, just moving after being bored out of her brains in the tent felt good. She'd have to figure out something to do outside later today to make use of the weather. Something active. While the stargazing last night had been fun, the past few days had been terribly slow, and she had a lot of leftover energy.
While she was considering whether they might be able to get enough people together to play a game of Cops & Robbers, a game she had used to play with the Muggle kids in her neighbourhood, the hand around hers suddenly vanished. She hadn't given it a second thought before, kind of not even realised they were holding hands until it had been gone. Dee blinked, directing her attention back towards her companion, who was... apologising? Also, his ears were a little red, which was ridiculous. Not even gingers could sunburn that fast.
"Uh, sure," she replied, confusion bleeding into her voice, but she followed him to the breakfast pavilion, anyway. "And what in the world are boxties?"
Zyk grasped her hand again to pull her into the pavilion, and Dee almost made a comment on how he should just decide whether he wanted to drag her around or not, but her loudly growling stomach distracted her. Despite the late hour, there were a few people around, and food was obviously still available, too.
At Zykeal's words, however, she gave him the most unimpressed stare she could muster, before pointedly stepping away to a different bench and sitting down there, all the while trying to keep the corner of her mouth from twitching upward. He was going to drag this "Princess" thing out, wasn't he?
Those boxty things he ordered looked... interesting, she supposed, and for a moment she was tempted to get them, too. "No one's forcing you to wait for me," she informed him distractedly, and instead settled on simple toast and some green tea. If she decided she wanted to try it, she could still steal some of his food, after all.
"So, why do you sleep on the couch all the time?" she asked, blue eyes fixed on the toast and the jam she was currently spreading on it. Her tone was light and teasing, her thoughts already drifting to the day ahead. "Bed not good enough for you?"

The food he desired appeared in front of him and he stared down in amazement when he beheld his breakfast for the morning, "Not as good as me mums', but, it'll do," he said to himself. Utensils be damned, he tossed them back onto the table and grabbed in one hand the boxty that was set before him and in the other the orange juice that looked freshly squeezed. A smile came before him before shoving the boxty into his mouth and he started to devour the thing, trying to fit in a small sip of the acidic juice between bites. Golden hues peered up towards where Dee was and he noted that she had ordered some food for herself.
Dealla decided to ask a question, was she actually being inquisitive of him? For once this was new, having not to force to a conversation between the two of them, but, it did look as if she had forced herself to even say something to him and wasn't really into talking with him. Settling his elbows down upon the table and resting his food out to the side, he finished chewing his bite and continued to stare at her for a moment before deciding to respond, "More comfy'," he offered, then added, "and that, thing... has set up its lair underneath that bed," a visible shudder ran through his form for a moment before took another slow bite of his meal, trying not to foolishly eat as fast as he was previously.
A smile formed upon his face as he looked over towards her and watched her spread her condiments upon her toast, she did look like she was thinking of something, but, he would just attribute that to being Ravenclaw thing. Nodding over towards the girl, he asked, "So whatcha got planned' for rest of summer?" he was curious if she'd be in Diagon Alley buying her 2nd-year books around the same time that he would be. Zyk most likely would be shipped over a few days before the term started to collect the items required for the 2nd year and spend a few nights at the tavern there. Before she could respond, he'd mention his own plans, "I'll be going home to Ballymun for the rest," he nodded and took a quick bite of the boxty before continuing, "and I set up a meetup of Hoggy students at a bookstore in Dublin, should be fun I thinks," he finished, waiting to hear her response.

Dee looked up when Zyk started tearing into his food like a ravenous animal, blinked, and burst out laughing. "Don't choke on your food, I might miss you," she told him, amusement sparkling in her eyes, but without any trace of malice. "Breathing is important."
She watched him a moment longer, considering. "Is it that good?" she asked when he apparently couldn't stop chewing long enough to swallow before drinking from his orange juice. "What is that, anyway?"
Still feeling restless, a little giddy, almost, she kicked off her shoes under the table and pulled her legs up onto the bench, fidgeting until she was comfortable before she took a bite of her toast which was now generously covered in strawberry jam. "More comfortable?" she asked, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards. "The way you sleep on that couch looks like I'd feel like I had gotten trampled by an Erumpent if I tried it. It's a little impressive, I'll admit."
The next comment puzzled her for a second and she drew her eyebrows together in thought before her expression cleared and she started giggling so hard she almost choked on her food. "Opeila's cat?" She vaguely remembered that the two of them had had a rather unfortunate encounter on their first evening in the tent - while Dee had been busy dodging sparks and Aurelia had gotten Rafael's underwear thrown at her face, Zykeal's face had gotten acquainted with Loras' claws.
"Yes, such a vicious beast," she agreed, nodding, but unable to stay serious. "A completely valid reason to stay away from your bed. Extremely scary."
Her next piece of toast was covered in apricot jam, and some of it stuck to the corner of her mouth when she took a big bite of it. Dee nodded in response to his question, still chewing. "Not much. I'm going home, looking forward to seeing my friends and parents and the sea again." She swallowed, and grinned at him, her eyes teasing. "I got a cat at home, too. Maybe you'd like him, though, Theophilius is super calm. No terrifying monster there. Oh, and Ileen is coming with me! Also we're taking a short trip with some other friends to explore a cave. My dad hasn't fully agreed yet, but I'll get him to." She took a sip of her tea. It was lukewarm at this point, and very light, but she didn't mind. "Got no real plans other than that. I suppose my mum will take us shopping for school things again at some point, but that's it."
This conversation was nice, she decided, as she finished her second piece of toast. For once, neither of them seemed to extensively try to push the other person's buttons. It wasn't like she'd had a problem with him before - or at least not once she'd gotten over him calling her Dealla at their first meeting - but he had been rather hard to talk to.
Her blue eyes lit up in curiosity, fixed on his face, when he mentioned his home and the meetup he had planned. "Where's Ballymun? Near Dublin? Have you always lived there?" She emptied her cup of tea and set it down, her appetite stilled for now. "Any interesting people coming to the meetup?"

Questioned were answered, but, he forgot what his questions even were. The sudden realization that this conversation didn't matter to him struck him. This was just some post-break-up distraction with a girl who didn't give any care for him. She'd done nothing but berate him for being stupid and physically hit him for attending her own birthday party when he didn't even have to show his face. It was nonsense. Zykeal was just shaken from his awaken state in a way that made him temporarily forget the unnerving situation that presented itself the night previous.
Whatever this girl's issue was, he didn't want to bother figuring it out. As he held the boxty in his hand, half-way towards his mouth, with he glass of orange juice resting with the grip of his opposite hand, he realized that this situation and person was the last thing that he needed in his life. This person would just be toxic to him, hateful, manipulative, and calculating just like all Ravenclaws were. Dropping both the glass and the boxty abruptly, he smirked towards the girl that sat across from him, "Don't bother trying to get to know me," he stated, his mood shifting so quickly that she might not even realize what hit her.
With this, he suddenly stood from the bench that he seated at and looked towards where he had just lead her from. Why was he so foolish o think that this was a helpful distraction, this girl, among all that he had met, the one that seemed to hate him the most? Self-reflection was necessary and he didn't even bother to give her a second glance before he withdrew himself from the area they were seated at and pushed his way towards the tent area, trying to get himself lost within them, hiding away from anyone he might recognize for a while.
Zyk leaves the thread.

It probably shouldn't surprise her anymore - it was hardly the first time it had happened, so today was really only one in a row of encounters where Zykeal had approached her, started talking to her, and then ditched her from one second to the next, with no explanation offered.
Don't bother trying to get to know me? Hadn't he been the one who had dragged her here? Started asking questions about her summer, mentioned his home?
When he left, the easy atmosphere of banter and exchanging summer plans gone so quickly it left her dizzy, Dealla was left staring after him in astonishment.
Ever since they had met she had been, from her point of view, very patient with him. She hadn't jinxed him for calling her "Dealla" - twice - hadn't complained about being made a fool of by him walking away without a word - much - and had actually thought they were approaching some sort of friendship, even if it was based on banter, pushing each other's buttons, and stupid nicknames. Apparently Zykeal didn't agree.
Shaking her head, Dee looked down on her empty plate. There was no reason to linger here anymore, apparently. Her breakfast was done, her partner gone, and although it left her with an unsatisfied sensation in her chest, like she should understand what had just happened but simply couldn't, she wasn't going to run after him.
Quickly, she slipped her shoes back on, tidied the remnants of her breakfast to make it easier on the house elves, and, on a whim, finally tried a bite of the boxty Zykeal had left behind before she skipped out of the dining area to find other things to do with her day.
It tasted good, she decided. A little strange, but not bad at all.
