Each tent at the London Quidditch Stadium was a quite different despite looking similar on the outside. This particular one was carrying a very rustic vibe and was filled with plants to make the atmosphere more relaxing and natural. The tent was obviously not targeted towards girls or boys specifically. Anyone that found themselves in need of a bed could stay here. There were ten beds in total. Five on one side of the tent and five on the other. Each one was surrounded by a circular golden fence, covered in white net to provide their occupant with some privacy.

In the middle of the tent was a big dining table, which could fit all residents. It was also big enough for any games or crafting activities. Other than that, there were two slightly smaller sitting areas. One was equipped with a small table, two wooden recliners and a hammock chair. The second one had a comfortable couch two chairs and a small coffee table in the middle of it. Additionally, you could find a collection of pillows, for those that preferred to sit or lie on the ground.

The new summer home was also supplied with all kind of things to kill time. There were various board games, cards, sketchbooks, painting tools, a small cupboard with snacks and a bookcase. Those that were skilled in music could even find a spare guitar here.

Carolyn kept second-guessing her decision to join the summer camp thorough the whole journey to the London Quidditch Stadium. Sure, her friend would be there but she was in the Quidditch team tent, which had no space for her. She also didn’t enjoy the sport quite as much as many other students. She liked it well enough but wasn’t overly passionate about it. Nevertheless, she decided to come and support her Hufflepuff peers and maybe find some new friends in the process. Not to mention there would be other activities on the schedule that sounded quite interesting.

Now the only problem was, she had no friends to share a tent with. There was a Gryffindor student in a similar situation that somehow got assigned to her and they agreed to find the tent together but that was it. The girl actually didn’t look like she even wanted to talk to her. Carolyn had no idea whether they would get along but she was certainly willing to try. If nothing else, it appeared they shared the same heritage… although it was hard to say how important that was to the other girl. So far, she only managed to get a nod out of her. Well, that’s why we are here. To get to know each other better, Carolyn reminded herself. And wasn’t that the truth? The young Ravenclaw was so lost in books the whole year that she completely missed the opportunity to make some friends. Now school was over and she had no one to hang out with. Well, hopefully others will join us soon.

“Um…I think it’s this one?” She finally turned to the other girl. It was a bit awkward as neither of them was particularly talkative. Carolyn was a bit self-conscious and her new companion simply didn’t seem all that interested in…well anything really. “It looks empty,” the Ravenclaw carefully peered inside. “And very nice,” she added soon after, although she had a sneaking suspicion her classmate actually appreciated the fact that the tent was currently empty more than the decor itself. In all honestly, it looked like she didn’t want to be here at all. “I’m Carolyn by the way. I suppose we should at least know each other’s names, right?” She asked hopefully without sounding too pushy.

It would be quite an understatement to say that Sky wasn't looking forward to summer camp. After all the girl was a fan of quidditch, she certainly found it intriguing, if nothing else. The summer camp would also provide her with various distractions, surely to stray her from the wandering thoughts of wretched family problems and ugh, mortal enemies. Although, as far as the resentment towards relatives went, Sky did miss her mother terribly, and on the journey to London, her heart felt as though it were beating irregularly, giving a sad jolt here and there every time she was reminded of her dear mother. She of course wouldn't be missing her father, let alone her disgraceful accident of a brother for that fact. [She was sure they reciprocated these feelings] Her younger brother was an exception to this statement however and she felt slightly disheartened at the fact that he wouldn't be with her this summer.

Sky arrived and immediately began searching for a tent to acquire for her stay. Chocolate orbs scanned the site, swiftly painting her landscape as she strolled past several similar looking tents. However, it seemed that each one took an individual turn on the inside, for when Sky peered in to many of them, they seemed to sport vastly different designs and features. No doubt interesting enough.

She stopped outside a particularly pretty one in her opinion. It gave off a vibe of tranquility. Several potted plants littered the inside, giving of a very natural looking setting. It didn't look as though it were targeted to any specific gender. There were beds perched on each side of the tent, each with its own net of privacy. The middle of the tent there was a dining table; Sky supposed this could support several activities, it had enough seats to fit all residents of the tent. Other pretty chairs and accessories were dotted here and there. Lovely. This would be exactly what Sky was looking for.

She strolled in, placing her possessions gently on a bed in the far corner. She was convinced she was alone, and it was only until she heard movement that her head shot up, proving that another person was indeed in the tent with her, well two others.

“I’m Carolyn by the way. I suppose we should at least know each other’s names, right?”

The voice spoke up, and Sky wasn't quite sure whether the girl was talking to her, or not. Nevertheless, as she was in a particularly good mood, she decided to make her way over, offering a hand for the girl to take, “Nice to meet you Carolyn, Im Sky, Sky Evans.”

The first thing the girl would have noticed if they had met before, would have possibly been the girls abnormal shade of hair. However prior to the day they were to leave for summer camp, Sky had reverted to her natural shade of blonde. It seemed to suit her for the time being anyway, with that she offered a smile around.

Now Sky wasn't usually one to smile that often. Seemingly enough, she was quite cold and sarcastic when she wanted to be. [which was most of the time] However, she was taking a turn into her second year at Hogwarts and the haughty snake felt the need to break out of her shell a little. No doubt her princess-like, ‘I-am-too-special-for-you’ manner would still be evident, but at least she was putting in an effort this time to make a few acquaintances, or even friends. She spoke up again, her voice its usual posh authoritative tone, tucking strands of blonde hair behind her ears and standing up to her full height. “I heard that there is a BBQ later, would any of you be going perhaps?”

On the last days of the term when the details of the summer trip were announced, Calanthe was adamant that she would not attend. She had not been to a single Quidditch match in the school year and knew absolutely nothing about the sport. Plus, trying to keep up with the month’s schedule sounded harrowing. Sure, the girl was on a path to bettering herself, but being thrown straight into the center of a massive team-building activity was not the first steps she had in mind. But as the term drew to a close, Calanthe dreaded returning to her sad home in Brighton where she would undoubtedly begin re-fostering the very emotions she was currently trying to keep at bay.

To the summer camp I go.

The whole train journey to London was spent in her head, ignoring the chatter of her cabinmates and worrying about how she was going to survive all this social interaction. The closer they got to the Quidditch stadium, the more Calanthe was beginning to think that this was a bad idea. The crowds, the familial vibes, the game she knew squat about. This was going to be a terrible time and she knew it.

The feeling grew even worse when she overheard some people talking about how they were so happy that they signed up to be sharing a tent together. Calanthe felt like puking at the thought of experiencing that much enjoyment as well as a stab of regret for never finding a friend during the past ten months.

Instead of approaching a group and asking to stay with them – thank Pelor – she was assigned to a tent with some others were in a similar situation as her. Pointed in the direction of one of her tentmates, the two of them decided to find their commons together. Other than a curt hello, she said nothing to the other girl. On their way to the tent, conversation starters and small talk swam in her head. She wanted to break their awkward silence, but had no idea how. If the girl was paying attention to Calanthe, she would see the trademark scowl crossing her face, but instead of possessing scowl-ish feelings, it was just the face that Calanthe had become most comfortable with during her time at Hogwarts.

When they entered the tent, her companion brought her out of her head with some small talk. Calanthe looked up from her feet for the first time to observe the area. It was beautiful – almost too luxurious for her. She expected the student body to be roughing it out in the wilderness by the way purebloods talked about it. Of course, she knew some magic would be involved, but not like this. It was a perfect little home for the month and the best part that she could see was the beds. The intricate golden gates held long drapes of a white curtains, creating an ideal hideaway that Calanthe would definitely need for her time here.

With tunnel vision, the Gryffindor prepared to make a beeline to the bed in the corner when the other introduced herself as Carolyn. “I suppose we should know each other’s names, right?” It was a reasonable request, of course, but Calanthe found herself clawing through her brain again, trying to find a response that was friendly enough. When did it become this hard to talk to people? Before she could respond, another girl emerged from the tent she was eyeing and introduced herself as Sky, offering her hand to Carolyn.

“Hello. I’m Calanthe,” she hoped it did not sound too robotic, “Oh… and nice to meet you both.” She cleared her throat and left the two to dump her belongings on the bed in the other corner before anyone else could claim it. She had half a mind to stay there and curl up, away from more eyes, but decided against it, making her way back to the duo. “I… I’m not sure I’ll go. I think… I should stay here. Yeah, I’ll stay here. But if you guys are going, then… let me know how it went.” Is that what people say to each other? What else? She rubbed the back of her head, trying to drum up something that wouldn’t end their chat there. “Um... are you guys excited for the camp?”

Carolyn was patiently waiting for Calanthe’s reply when another girl decided to jump in. She turned around to see their new addition to the team. “Oh, hello Sky. Nice to meet you,” she said with a friendly smile while gently shaking the other girl’s hand. The three of them were a pretty odd mix for sure but who knew? Maybe it was a good thing. “That’s a very nice name,” she commented when Calanthe finally managed to join in as well. It appeared to Carolyn that despite the ever-present scowl, the girl wasn’t actually unpleasant. Perhaps she was just struggling with something. I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

After the short introductions, Calanthe took her bags and claimed a bed in the corner of the tent, probably hoping for some privacy. Carolyn contemplated for a moment before deciding to join her side. She didn’t take the bed right next to the girl since it might make her uncomfortable but she did settle for the next one. Just in case she ever needed something. “I heard that there is a BBQ later, would any of you be going perhaps?” Sky’s voice cut through the air once again. It was nice to have someone willing to initiate an actual conversation. Carolyn wasn’t very good at it and she doubted Calanthe cared enough to do so. Silence seemed to fit her just fine. Surprisingly enough, she did answer the blonde girl first, making the Ravenclaw smile a little. “I’m not sure yet but I’m thinking about it…mostly for the food purposes of course.” She was only half joking. “I’ll let you guys know if decide to go. It would be nice to go together.” Carolyn knew Calanthe didn’t want to but she was hoping to change her mind. Although, she wouldn’t force her if she really didn’t feel like it.

“Hmm…honestly, I’m not quite sure,” she admitted begrudgingly after hearing Calanthe’s question. Because she wasn’t. Carolyn knew she had to do this for her own sake but she was only half-excited and then half terrified. The young witch was always wary of the crowds and there would be plenty of those here. “What about you, Sky? You look excited,” she pointed out with a smile.

OOC: I purposely didn't say Carolyn was going since my BBQ thread starts by leaving a note for you guys. If she knew she would be going, she would have made plans to do so together immediately instead of going alone and just leaving a paper.
