Hi Piérre,

It's been a little while since we've spoken properly outside of Quidditch practice, and ever since the season has ended, I feel like I never see you anymore. How have you been? Did you manage okay after the ball? That was kind of...intense. I'm glad you were able to get out of the worst of it before it really got bad. You didn't go back, right? I never said it before, but thanks for going to get help. The professors had just arrived right before Woodward and I left, and I didn't stick around to watch everything afterwards, but I think they were able to get a handle on it all, at least.

Anyway, I just wanted to message to make sure you were okay.

Well, actually, I've been meaning to ask you about something else as well. You were at that first Liberation Club meeting that I put together and I remember you saying you were going to keep your eyes out. Try to find out whatever you could. I was wondering if you made any progress with that at all. I had been hoping things had kind of calmed down after that, so hadn't really followed up with it. But with the incident at the Blossom Ball, and then with the Headliner releasing those articles that same month and in May about the spiders in the Slytherin Common Room and the fire in Hufflepuff's, obviously things are far from normal.

I guess I'm just wondering what all you know. Everything you know. Hope to hear from you soon. And just in case you're not able to get back to me before the end of the year, my address is at the bottom. You can owl me there.

From,
Evelynn

p.s. good luck with your studying!

Evelynn,

Hi there! Um, funny story about being away... I kind of feel like I just... disassociated for a while. You know what that's like? It was almost like... I dunno... It was kind of nice to be on my own for a bit, just mentally prepping myself for anything, like.

The ball was pretty crazy, and don't mention it. I would have never forgiven myself if I didn't help people. I guess that's the latent Gryff in me coming through, cuz-- and I'll be honest-- I never felt like I belonged in this house before. I did end up going back for Philipe, but... apparantly he got spooked by something, and he ended up stinging me, the poor guy. I blame myself. I should have known that perhaps that would have happened. After all, he is a magical creature, and animals are animals. It takes a lot more than just five minutes to bond with an animal... but I'm more than willing to learn. Naw, but the sting didn't hurt for too long... hurt like the dickens for the first day and a half, but after that, it was like having a tetanus shot, you know? Are you doing alright yourself?

Evelynn... I trust owls as much as the next person, and certainly they are loyal animals and majestic pets, but they are able to be caught and intercepted. If these attacks get worse and worse over time, and especially if someone were listening to these letters, intercepting them or whatever, I don't know if I'll end up being safe. I'm not saying at all that I know anything about the events going on here; if anything, I'm completely in the dark, being a fellow Gryffindor like you. The best that anyone can do is keep their eyes and ears open and make sure that they don't get in the wrong person's way. I hope that things will improve for next year. I really do like the school, even with its eccentricities and dramatic encounters with many individuals. I've been looking forward to these years for as long as I've known of the world of magic, and it'll take more than just a few unfortunate events to change my mind or force me away from what I love or what I deeply value.

Anyways, I hope the rest of the year hasn't been too crazy for you; but considering just how self-assured and strong you are as a person, combined with the fact you're a Gryffindor, you'll go really far in life, I can tell already. Thank you so much for this letter, I really needed someone to talk to.

Always wishing you the best in everything you pursue and anything academic you desire to complete or undertake, and I hope to see you next year so that we can get to know one another better.

Best regards and always rooting for you!

Hey Piérre,

Goodness, your letter almost sounded rather formal. By the time I finished it, it seemed as though you were under the impression that we weren't going to see each other until at least September when term starts up again. You do realize that we have exams together, yes? I mean, I know that since Quidditch and lectures are over an all, our paths hardly cross as much as they used to, but the common room is common to the both of us. It's not like we just up and taking the train back to London tomorrow or something. (I'm kidding, obviously).

Anyway, I hope your time disassociating was.. Okay? Productive? Is that something that it could be? I think I somewhat understand what you're saying there, though. I sometimes find myself lost in my own thoughts where my day to day routine is like it takes place in its own tunnel, untouched and unhindered by any of the goings on of those around me. It helps me stay more focused, and it's often when there's something important happening that needs my full attention. Like trying to sort out everything going on.

Speaking of which, I'll admit, I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping maybe you knew something. But I suppose you're right. We Gryffindors really have had an oddly docile experience this year. It seems like everything that's been happening has mostly been involving the other houses. Perhaps not Ravenclaw as much, though. I suppose I haven't really heard much going on with them. Perhaps that's for the best. Or maybe it's less to do with Houses, and more to do with locations in the castle. Anyway, not that it matters. We're just reaching blindly at straws at this point. And I suppose that's fair. I hadn't considered that anyone would actually be attempting to intercept letters to read through them. I suppose we're lucky, then, that we don't know anything significant to have included in a letter anyway… I'm trying to tell myself that's a good thing. To be ignorant means we're safe, at least for now. But there's certainly an underlying worry. Hopefully nothing else happens, though.

And did you really go back? To the ball? Are you mad? And are you actually trying to say that you named one of those stupid mosps, Philipe? You and Woodward, honestly. He had tried to make a net out of his shirt to try to catch one of those blasted things and almost ended up getting us both killed. Instead, he got lucky and only got himself stabbed, and we were able to get away. I can't believe I'm calling that lucky. And I can't believe you got hurt! I'm glad you're okay, of course. But.. Honestly.. How did you think that was going to be a good idea? It's an insect. It's not like it's a dog or something else that can be slowly trained up. They don't have the same capacity for learning. Well.. I'll admit, I'm assuming that, but… you know what, nevermind. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be criticising you like this. But.. Just.. You're one of the few people that actually talks to me and I don't want you to get hurt. Please be more careful in future?

Also.. Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words. The last couple of months have been pretty rough, admittedly, and I think I needed to hear them. Did you maybe want to study together? Exams are right around the corner, after all. I've never really studied much with someone else before, but my mother always said that with the right person, it can help keep you focused. I've been using the study room, personally. At least in the afternoons and evening before curfew when most are in the library. It's usually pretty empty in there. If you feel like it, just come by and join me.

From,
Evelynn

Evelynn,

Tonight, after curfew. I know it's dangerous, and I knew that we could get into some deep quicksand, but it's the only time that I know in which we can have some peace; or at least the time in which people are least likely to be eavesdropping. Cliché, I know, but surprisingly effective if you know what you're doing.

The common room. Only Gryffs can get in, and the only individuals possibly on patrol are the Prefects and the Head of House. There are plenty of places to hide, lots of things to throw, and while we're on magical grounds, dueling spells are green lights. If Xailah shows up; she seems to be the most catlike of the four of them, she'll probably understand and maybe event help out, despite my... rocky relationship with her thus far. She knows that I know things, and I know things about her as well. I won't say them here, you know well enough why, but perhaps a Prefect is what we need.

The teachers aren't oblivious, I know that they mean well and want to protect us. I even know that the curfew put in place is for our best interests; however, nothing will change unless we take action; and sometimes the most effective people in a war are the spies. The ones who are seemingly oblivious to the cause or the trouble, who know means to eek information from the prime sources, and those who know when and how to don and doff a mask. I am by no means a spy, but I am, shall we put it, unassuming enough to be considered a child as opposed to an intellect.

Be careful. There's an adult out there who wants to hurt us; there are accidents that are not accidents, and if things are not placed in the right hands... we may have another Wizarding War to contend with in our own years of schooling. One even worse than Potter's time.

Don't get lost; don't whisper a word.

Gryff Common Room, 9:00, sharp.

Love you like a sister, Eevee,
