A Beautiful Day to Skip
Sitting at the edge of the lake, Errol let the tip of her toes kiss the surface of the frigid water, not daring to dip her whole foot in fear that the cold would numb her feet. Stretch back, her face was pointed towards the sky where the sun's warm rays caressed her pale cheeks in a golden light as she sunbathed. Her thin arms were pushed slightly behind her, keeping her chest off of the ground while her fingers dug into the cold dirt and fresh grass, today no one could deny was beautiful. There was a fresh breeze wrapping around Hogwarts and occasionally it ran its fingers through Errol's jasper red curls, pulling them into the wind and bringing them alive as they twisted and curled on their own like the mindless tendrils of a beast. Occasionally they would get out of control and attack Errol's own face, latching onto it and momentarily causing her to go blind until she forced them out of the way with the stroke of her hand.
The Hufflepuff had escaped class at noon, no longer able to resist the warmth just beyond the stonewalls that called to her like a Siren's melody. Her disappearing act meant she was going to miss her last two classes, but Errol didn't mind too much, not when she was breathing in lung fulls of fresh-air and sitting in undisturbed silence. At home her days were as mellow as today, consisting of Errol laying in the sun like a cat, her body devouring the warmth that was offered to it as she rested her eyes and allowed her mind to be swept away into daydreams that consisted of the impossible or in her case, the likely impossible, for in the Wizarding World there was no limit to the wonder that threatened to consume even the Muggle World with its magic. Everything imaginable, and even unimaginable, existed in the glamorous realm she lived in.
Blinking open her eyes lazily, she squinted against the bright rays as she gazed upon the lake that was as grey as her own eyes. She hadn't found her way back to the lake since her arrival at Hogwarts when due to tradition she boarded a boat for the first time in her life and rowed across the water to reach the mighty castle that was now her school. That had been a little over a week ago, and with her life finally falling back into a steady pattern, she felt like it was safe enough for her to slip out of the school to enjoy some of the natural scenery that surrounded her school. The Great Lake was one of the main things that interested Errol, for her Maimeó often told her stories about the creatures that slumbered beneath the tranquil surface. From Selkies to a great squid, the lake seemed like a gem in the rough, attracting Errol's mind like a magnet.
Admittingly, it was also fear of these creatures that kept Errol from slithering into the water like a snake, not just the cold it promised. She wasn't that foolish, her mother, a magizoologist, had taught her never to trespass into the territory of a magical creature without invention. Often than not these creatures would be docile, but one never knew. Errol might've felt a slight resentment to her absent mother, but she knew when to take advice when it was offered, so she only risked the tip of her toes in the water.

A Beautiful Day to Skip
Ah what a gorgeous day to be alive. The curly headed irish boyo thought. His brilliant blueish-green eyes moved all over the place taking in the sights of his surroundings. He let his curious eyes roam freely observing and absorbing every little detail they could. The bright rays of the sun hitting and bouncing off his pale, slightly fair skin. They highlighted all the freckles that were generously sprinkled all over his face.
Quinn had just finished up with a few of his classes for the day, and found himself with a fairly long break. A break he decided to use to explore the great lake a place he hadn't had a chance to properly explore since first arriving at Hogwarts. Too many other things had ended up occupying his curious mind like having interesting and rather fun chats with his new friend Eri who was a Ravenclaw. That or downright nearly getting into trouble with every chance he got.
Eventually after a short time, he wasn't sure how long it had really been. Quinn had arrived at the lake shore. Almost immedieately his eyes enlarged, practically popping out of his eye sockets. "Wow!" was all Quinn could said to display his astonishment and awe at the sheer beauty of the lake. It was a struggle to keep the books in his hands from falling out. "I definitely have to make this one of my study spots" With a gleeful grin the boy nodded reassuringly to himself.
It was at this moment that Quinn glanced to his right noticing a girl with long curly red hair laying back and basking in the sun. She seemed lost in her own thoughts. Apparently he wasn't the only one who decided to enjoy this beautiful day either. She seemed to be enjoying herself quite a bit. Perhaps I should say hello. I mean I might as well it's not like I have much else to do. Plus it might be rude especially if she see's me as I try to leave. After taking the moment to nod in agreement with himself, Quinn walked over to the girl stopping a few feet away.
With a wide and welcoming smile he introduced himself. "Hi there, I'm Quinn Healy are you enjoying this beautiful like myself." He wondered if it might be strange to introduce himself like this, but at this point the deed was already done. He would just have to adapt if he made a wrong choice in doing so, or appeared weird.

Lazily, Errol squinted her grey eyes at the sudden shade that washed over her face due to the unexpected arrival of Quinn who now stood between her and the Sun's brightness. For a minute she was dazed by the sudden arrival of the boy, thinking that the rest of the students had been busy in their studies, but just as soon as quickly as the shock had taken hold of her, it left her, as a friendly smile graced her face. Enough days at Hogwarts had passed, melting the icy awkwardness that had once had ahold of the First year as she struggled to interact with her fellow classmates. Being homeschooled had sheltered her from the fear of being miss-judged but now she was steadily getting used to the company of strangers and how to interact with them, although even now she could feel the crippling fingers of anxiety wrapping around her heart every once and awhile. Luckily now was not one of those moments cursed moments.
Grey met hazel blue, as Errol lifted herself off of the grass, nearly knocking her head off of the boy's in what would have been a painful mishap. Her hands found their way to her backside where she quickly began whipping off the loose dirt that had clung to her while she had been sitting, her eyes never leaving Quinn's as she introduced herself a little less awkwardly than he had previously had done. "I'm Errol," she said, a graceless tongue thick with an Irish accent similar to Quinn's. "And it is beautiful," Errol agreed as her gaze flickered to the lake that stretched out before them, once more stamping into her mind the awe-inspiring scenery that Hogwarts was- nothing like the simple yet charming countryside she was raised in.
"Are you skipping too?" she asked as she returned her attention back to Quinn. The question and action seemed very Slytherin like, and one might have mistaken the girl for one of the cunning members if not for how eager she was to engage in conversation with the fellow student. Her long fingers idly drew themselves to her hair that was flowing life-like in the wind, a distraction from the conversation that was not welcomed as she quickly drew her hair back out of her face with the raking of her fingers through the curls.

He smiled and nodded after she asked her question. "In a sense yeah...I mean I read ahead so I kind of already have a good idea of what my next classes are going over." He chuckled rubbing the back of his next. "I couldn't help myself today was just too beautiful, and my curiosity was just screaming at me to explore."
The red head looked around the area carefully inspecting his surroundings. His eyes scanned the grassy area for a moment. A soft hum could be heard if one listened closely enough. Whatever it was that Quinn was doing seemed to end as quickly as it had begun, because suddenly Quinn slipped off his pack. He took a seat down not too far from Errol, and set the books in his hand down.
"If you don't mind me asking Errol which part of Ireland are you from. It sounds like...Are you from the northern part of Ireland?" The red head tilted his head slightly to the left smiling, his eyes shining with a hidden inquisitiveness about them. "I don't mean to pry. It's just really exciting to meet someone else from the same country. Kind of helps with the homesickness." His cheeks turned a dusty pink from embarrassment.
Quinn had always exuded this air of excitement and confidence from himself. He never really let it show just how much he missed home, so admitting that he was homesick or even showing it was a little embarrassing for him. Though he would never admit that out loud.
