Adalia Hawthorne, First Year, Ravenclaw

Adalia Elsie Hawthorne was born a half-blood witch to wizarding welsh author Elsie Hughes and Charles Hawthorne, a Korean-British muggle-born wizard. She was born in her mother's hometown, Wrexham, Wales, where the family started a home above their family bookshop. Their apartment was quaint and small to outsiders, but was much larger on the inside, honing magical abilities. The couple raised their children, Oliver and Adalia, to be surrounded by wizarding culture so that they would be familiar with it as they grew older.

Unlike other wizarding families, the Hawthornes sent both of their kids to muggle elementary school, because of their muggle-born father, who wanted them to be involved with both worlds, and have a full education. It was at the age of nine when Adalia began to show signs of magical ability. She was often teased by her schoolmates for her love of reading Shakespeare instead of doing 'normal' things other children would do. One day, a boy her age mocked her voice, saying she sounded like an annoying duck. Fed up with all the bullying, Adalia snapped and the boy started quacking, instead of speaking.

Any time other parents or elders would judge the Hawthornes for raising peculiar children, odd things began occurring to them. During a grocery outing, Adalia carried around her favorite book- Othello, and the man at the cashier made a judgmental comment to Ms. Elsie Hawthorne about exposing her children to such 'dark stories' at such a young age. Adalia glared at the man, and all of a sudden, the prices of their groceries went down on the tags.

During the ride in the Hogwarts Express, Adalia found an empty compartment space at the end of the train and read Lord of The Rings during the ride. Her love of wizarding sweets caused her to buy a dozen boxes of chocolate frogs- which she was not capable of consuming. Her arrival caused her heart to stop as she saw the castle in the distance. She immediately felt something rising in her chest- excitement? Passion? Whatever she felt, she knew Hogwarts was going to be her new home.
