Alejandro was kind of just away in his head, thinking about his mamá and how she would be closing the bakery right now and going home to his dad. He settled in a comfy chair in the center of the room because there weren't many students in at the moment.

He reached into his black leather satchel his father gave him before he had left and pulled out his DADA text book and began reading but the fire was warm and he became drowsy from it. So he put his head back into the chair and closed his eyes.

Staying up all night was going to have to happen if he fell asleep now, so he gingerly opened his eyes and began reading again. As he read he turned his head ever so slightly to hear the hushed conversations happening around him.

He always wished he had spoken to another first year in his house but all the first years in Gryffindor were all about homework and dueling and quidditch and he didn't find things like that appealing. So Alejandro stuck with studying alone, and briefly speaking to people in other houses.

He stretched and yawned and continued reading Getting very bored, he picked up the leather bag he carried everywhere. Tracing his finger along his familias coat of arms, he started to miss home and his friends.

He reached into the bag and pulled out some parchment and some quills and ink. He began writing owls to his home telling them all about Hogwarts and the food and that he was in Gryffindor. He wrote several but had them all delivered to home while doing so he thought 'My father will know to send them out to the proper addresses'.

He finished and put the ink and quills away and started reading again, god he hated reading.

Elizabeth walked into the study room with slow, and dreaded foot steps. She absolutely hated studying and would do anything to avoid it. Sadly she couldn't this time after getting a letter from her parents who weren't so pleased with her grades, of course given the fact of a lot of stuff never made sense at Hogwarts so it took a lot to get used to.

Elizabeth scanned the room only spotting a few people, she shrugged her shoulders and walked over to a table with a boy sitting at it. Elizabeth softly smiled after she remembered him from some of her classes. "Sorry for interrupting but, may I by any chance sit here?" She asked with a grin.

Elizabeth had nearly no luck with finding friends this whole school year. No matter what she did people pretty much avoided her after a few fake rumors spread about her. She mentally shook her head to scatter her thoughts so she could focus on the boy in front of her. "Also im Elizabeth," She smiled as she moved her bag side to side. "I really don't mean to interrupt and I can leave if you want." Elizabeth said nervously as she waited for his answer.

He looked up at the girl who’s name was Elizabeth. “Oh, hi, I’m Alejandro” he said scrambling to pick up the papers which were scattered this way and that and then he added “ oh and yeah sure you can sit, I wouldn’t make the company” he said with a smile and a glint in his eye.

He felt a little awkward but he wouldn’t mind I mean who liked studying he thought spitefully except for maybe the Ravenclaws... As she sat down beside him he said under his breath “Espero que ella piense que no soy otro gryffindor atrapado el primer año”. He wished he was home still but couldn’t blame his dad, he had known that sending me here would be best for me.

“So” he said... “what class are you studying for...?”. He asked this to be friendly he always had better luck with making friends with boys then girls. He started practicing his signature in the corner of his page trying to make it look less messy and look more official.

He had tried making friends, He had, had no luck with any of the boys in his dorm because they all seemed to want friends based off bloodlines and god he hated it. Like how hard was it to just like a personality not a family bloodline.

Elizabeth pulled out her history books with a annoyed face. "I'm not the best company either." She shrugged, he seemed like a nice guy. "History, what about you?" She mentally laughed at how awkward he was. "Also no need to be nervous, I don't judge." Elizabeth added in.

She pulled out her ink and quills and started writing down random facts that maybe one day would be useful. She tapped her foot softly for a while before remembering a lot of people find it annoying. "Sorry," She muttered under her breath.

"So uh what house are you in?" She asked looking up at the boy, with curiousness. She could usually figure it out just by looking at the student but she couldn't this time. She smoothed her t-shirt and continued studying.

Elizabeth could only think about the fact that everyone had been getting letters and stuff from family but of course she hadn't. But she knew her parents didn't care and her siblings if they had the choice would disown her. She rolled her eyes at the thought.

"I'm not the best company either."

He laughed. He liked this girl, she was funny and seemed to have pretty similar desires when it came to studying... to throw the book out the window. "History, what about you" she asked, "Oh... I think this is supposed to be Defense Against The Dark Arts but all it is to me is an action novel with the chicos buenos and mala gente" he joked.

It was reassuring to know she didn't judge him. While jotting down some notes, he listened to her lightly tapping the table leg repetitively. In an almost whisper she said "sorry." and stopped. "No, hey its okay... it doesn't really bother me" he said giving her a small smile.

"So what house are you in...?", she asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice. He said flatly, "Gryffindor.", "what about you" he added. Alejandro pulled his hood up as suddenly a wave of tired had hit him head on. he noticed how she had to look up, to look him in the face and almost laughed out loud but clamped his hand over his mouth.

He reached into his satchel, pulled out the owl his father and mother had sent. He read it over and over as he had gotten it last month and they had promised they would send one every week but they didn't. He was heartbroken but his father was probably busy with work.

He noticed the glum look on her face as she seemed to be deep in thought and said, "what's wrong, you seem a little downcast...?"

"Oh... I think this is supposed to be Defense Against The Dark Arts but all it is to me is an action novel with the chicos buenos and mala gente" he joked. "I read that book and I completely agree." She laughed. "So you speak Spanish?" She asked.

She enjoyed being around him. He said flatly. "Gryffindor.", "what about you" he added. "Gryffindor," She quietly replied. Alejandro pulled his hood up as suddenly a wave of tired had hit him head-on. he noticed how she had to look up, to look him in the face and almost laughed out loud but clamped his hand over his mouth. "What's so funny?" She asked raising her eyebrow.

"Also it's nothing, just family." She quickly replied, looking back down at her school. She wondered what was going through his head, she also was confused as to why someone would care about what was wrong, after all her family was very dismissive. She quickly wrote down a couple of things on her paper, as she went back to tapping her foot of course. She was also happy about the fact he wasn't bugged by her tapping.

"So you speak Spanish?".
"Oh, yeah I am from Wales but my mom and dad are from Mexico" he said brightly. And it was funny that she thought the same thing of the text book. she said Gryffindor as well, well he thought -I've finally met someone in Gryffindor that was tolerable-. "Whats so funny" she asked, "oh well uhh- nothing sorry" he said quickly.

"Also, it's nothing, just family." she said. She seemed uncomfortable to the question, so he said "Are you sure . . . You seem really bothered . . . ?" He asked cautiously as not to upset her. He did feel bad for kids that didn't have their parents love or support that's why at home he was known as the friend that acted like a parent. "and I'm a great listener so if you want to talk I'm here" he added giving her his first actual smile . He watched her jot down notes and noticed that she began tapping her foot again. He lowered his head to his arm and drew with his left over his notes .

" So are you a first year or . . . " he asked making more conversation as make it so felt less awkward. He put his quill down and started reading his book again, not really interesting but it was something he had to do so he could pass because he had always had good grades and it was something he was expected to hold up even all the way in Scotland.

"And I'm a great listener so if you want to talk I'm here" he added giving her his first actual smile. She smiled back. "Thanks," She mumbled. " So are you a first-year or . . . " He asked. She studied the paper in front of her trying to figure out the best way to explain. "It's actually kinda confusing. I am a first-year but I'm actually not eleven. She started to explain.

"The headmaster said I was allowed to start whatever age I wanted, so I waited a few years. She told him with a small blush. "What about you?" She said turning to face him and looking up, She groaned in annoyance. "Why are you so tall?" She mumbled mostly to herself. She looked back down at her school and finished off her essay, closing her history book and putting it away with her essay.

She next pulled out her potion assignment and placed it on the table and started working on a 5-page essay for it about wolfsbane. She tapped her quill quietly on the parchment while she wrote down stuff from her notes. "I've never hated magic more in my life." She said annoyed off her paper.

" The headmaster said I was allowed to start whatever age I wanted, so I waited a few years ". She told him with a small blush. "What about you?" She said turning to face him and looking up, She groaned in annoyance. "Why are you so tall?" She mumbled softly, but he still heard it.

He laughed, "Wait so how old are you?" he asked genuinely curious he was twelve but this girl didn't even look like she would be in middle school. "And I am a first year but I am twelve" he said still confused as how she could start so late and not be eleven. He didn't think he was very tall, this girl was just short. So he said " I am only 5'10; I think you are just short ". . . He looked above her head and jokingly said " Wait where did you go . . . She was here a minute ago . . . hmmm " and then started laughing.

He thought, How could you hate magic, even if it is potions but he was doing well in that class and he whispered under his breathe " Ella es una gryffindor, sorprende que fuera mucho más amable que la mayoría . ". But maybe he was wrong didn't know quite yet.

"Wait so how old are you?" he asked genuinely curious. "I'm thirteen." She smiled, he looked a lot older than twelve, maybe it was his height. I am only 5'10; I think you are just short..." He looked above her head and jokingly said. " Wait where did you go . . . She was here a minute ago . . . hmmm "" and then started laughing. She fake pouted and punched his arm. "5'10 is tall by the way." She said sticking her tongue out at him.

He mumbled something under his breath in Spanish again. "What did you say? She asked curiously. "How about this, we put our school away and get to know each other?" She asked him with a grin. "What do you say?" She said putting her half down essay away as well as her quills and ink.

She really wanted to make a friend and he seemed like the perfect person. She studied his facial expressions while she waited for his answer.
