I jumped up and down with excitement when I stepped onto Platform 9 3/4 with my family. This day would be the beginning of my life as a witch! I might meet my future spouse, like Hermione Granger, or my friends for life, like Harry Potter. The train blew its whistle in all its glory as I hugged my mum goodbye.
“Promise you’ll write?” She asked. I rolled my eyes and nodded. “Of course, mum.”
Once inside the train, the immense pressure of what I was doing pressed down on me. The kids I sat with could be my lifelong companions! My trunk bumped against the door of a compartment with a few girls my age. They looked nice, and nervous just like me.
“Um... can I sit here?” I asked tentatively. “Of course!” One girl answered. Another girl waved meekly and scooted over for me. There is no better feeling than someone scooting over for you.
“Hello!” The first girl piped up. “Nice to meet you. What’s your name?”
“Uh- Solstice,” I stuttered, surprised at her sudden friendliness. “Solstice Woodward.”
The second girl smiled at me. “I like that name,” she commented. “Solstice was common a long time ago because people thought Equinoxes and things were magical gatherings and good luck for the baby. After a while people stopped during the period of time when witches were banned, and the magical names never really came back.” Solstice widened her eyes at the information.
The two girls put their arms around each other. “Our local genius at it again. This girl is a walking, talking Encyclopedia!” She blushed and fidgeted with her fingers.
“I guess you want Ravenclaw, then?” I asked. To my please at surprise, both girls nodded. The rest of the ride was filled with fun, laughter, and chocolate frogs.

"Hello, Solstice, it's nice to meet you," I say shyly "I am Margaret." (I hope you don't mind if I act as one of the girls on the train with you). What an interesting name, it's so poetic. I hope I don't come off rude or too strong. I think to myself. "How a-" I pause How are you, why would I as that I hate small talk, everyone hates small talk, ugh (I sigh in my head) it's too late now. "Are you?" I say finishing the question knowing it's too late to go back. I try not to cringe too hard at my stupidity, but it was difficult. I smile nicely.

I lurch forward as the train starts. I am partially nervous but for the most part excited for the trip to Hogwarts. Soon I would be placed into a house, I was hoping for Raven claw but I would be happy with any house. I knew I would miss my brother and my parents but I felt comfort knowing I could send them owls. I felt more content knowing my other siblings were on the train with me and would be going to Hogwarts too which wasn't the best back up plan but just in case I blew this I would have them.
