Dear Clifton
How are you? How's your summer been so far?
You would not believe what happened this summer.
Remember the Wyatt kid right?
He's staying at my house this whole summer.
And he hates me..
My summer vacation is going to be the worst.
But besides that what were you
thinking for a
back to school prank?
I'm so excited to get back to working on SOATOP!
Best regards Alec J. Mason.

Dear Leo

How are you? What are your plans for the summer?
We all seriously need to work out another prank
for the starting of the school year.
Not exactly sure what though.
It needs to be something big though!
I'm so excited to get back to working on SOATOP!

I hope your doing alright!

Best regards Alec J. Mason

Since Leonard has never heard about the whole Wyatt Starkey and Alec getting into a fight thing it made no sense to even really bring it up. That and Leonard's probably never heard of Wyatt to begin with.

Hey Alec,

You're kidding, Wyatt is staying with you? That sucks. Please don't die over the summer. SOATOP must live on! I just got back from football (soccer)camp and they did all kinds of pranks in the dorms. I'm not sure how many would work well at Hogwarts, but I am definitely bringing supplies next year. I should show you guys what silly string is sometime.

Good luck with Wyatt. Why is he staying anyways? I didn't know your families even knew each other. But then, there's a lot of things about magic families that I guess I don't know. I hope you can still have some fun this summer.

- Cliff

Hey Leo,

So I broke my stupid ankle at football (soccer) camp. The worst part is that I wasn't even playing the sport. I was climbing a bunk bed. I guess even without angry Beaters around I'm still pretty good at getting myself beat up.

I hope your summer has had a better start than mine. So what do magic families do for fun when there's no school? Do you guys go to theme parks too? Because if there are theme parks for magic people, I need to know about them.

Dear Alec,
I’m really excited for next year as well. I told my parents last week, and Dad’s practically been hailing me as a prince since then. Mum’s pretty mad, though, but it’s alright. In a few hours, she’ll come knocking on my door with cookies that she won’t admit she didn’t bake and instead bought from the nearest Sainsbury’s.
I’m researching on some new spells for SOATOP, and Glisseo seems good. It turns stairs into slides, but I don’t really know what things we could do with it.
I’m doing pretty well, but what about you? Having any fun over there? Hope you are. But not too much fun, as you said, we need to brainstorm. I’ll be asking Clifton for his ideas as well.

Sincerely, Leonard
Dear Clifton,
Well, I can’t really fault you there. My dad made me go to football camp before, and I sprained my ankle after I tripped. There wasn’t even any rock there or anything. Don’t get yourself too beaten up, though. We need that brain of yours for our next bit of pranking. Speaking of which, do you have ideas for SOATOP?
My summer’s been alright, not too exciting. The most interesting thing that happened was Mum trying to make doughnuts and ending up putting a quarter cup salt instead of sugar. For a baker, you’d think she’d be a bit better. I don’t know about the theme park thing, though. It would be super awesome, for sure, but it would be really dangerous. Can you imagine a rollercoaster ride with a bunch of cardboard goblins and dementors coming at you? Scary.
Hope your summer has a much better middle.

Sincerely, Leonard

Dear Clifton

Silly string? Please inform me on what this is.
Luckily I actually know what football is so you don't
have to tell me anything on that matter.
I hope you had fun!

It's actually been pretty peaceful here.
Wyatt's mother died, I don't know much other than
that his dad isn't in the picture at the moment.
He was going to stay at some orphanage during the summer but apparently
my mom has agreed to watch him till
things can be worked out, so he stays at Hogwarts.
He's actually not that mean. Although
he does like to call me and my family rich snobs.
It's not as bad as I thought it would be.

He even had a tea party with my little sister.
We sneaked out to a park yesterday. It may have been my idea.
I had a little spider at the starting of the summer in my room
that's name was 'Cookie' he disappeared yesterday..
It turns out Wyatt really likes the Beatles, it's a muggle band or something.
He put a few of their songs on, on our record player a day or so ago.
He has an odd way with actual snakes.. They like him a lot.
He had a snake almost follow us home when we sneaked out.
It was a green snake with beady, yellow eyes
maybe you know what type of snake it is?
We don't usually get snakes near where I'm from.
We raced all the way back home.
What I mean I've learned is that, maybe
you shouldn't judge people on first impressions.

In hope you take this into consideration
when meeting new people as well.
It's a great thing to think about!

Best wishes, Alec J. Mason.

Dear Leo

Glisseo would be interesting to try.
I don't think were advanced enough to learn it this year
But maybe we could ask a student from a higher year?
I've been doing fine. My life has been a bit crazy.
This weird snake was following me home the other day.

Don't suppose you know what it is?
It was a green snake with beady, yellow eyes.
I thought I'd ask since we don't get many snakes
where I live and it was quite unusual.
I climbed up a tree to my bedroom window the other
Day. If you consider that or tea parties with your
Little sister fun. Then sure I'm having loads of fun!
I have a few ideas in mind that I'll write in my next letter

Still hope your doing alright, Alec J. Mason

Hey Leo,

I know it's been a little while sent I sent anything. I'm still getting used to this letter writing stuff. But I did survive football camp. Mostly. I left early, but not really by choice. I think I can explain it better when we come back to school, but basically I guess I have some sort of memory rattling around in my brain that someone really wants? And that someone--plus a few of his cronies--tried to get it from me one night and I so I sort of hopped the fence and ran away from football camp.

Is this normal for kids who learn they have magic?

Other than that, my summer has been fantastic. Because--and I know: que eyeroll--I've been spending it with my girlfriend. We went to a theme park, which is why I asked.

Ha, sorry to hear about the donuts. Bummer. My mom does that all the time when she cooks, only that's just how she cooks. I think she's better at putting outfits together than ingredients. Must be awesome having an actual professional chef for a mom. Does she make pizza?

I'm keeping a notebook of prank ideas. I'll bring it with me to school. Hope your summer has been going well! If you need something to do, my parents are open to friends visiting.

- Cliff

Hey Alec,

You're right. I shouldn't judge people by appearances, especially if they turn out to be Beatles fans. The Beatles are one of my top favorite bands! But jokes aside, I'm glad you've still been able to have a pretty okay summer so far.

Sorry to hear about Cookie. Can I ask why that's its name?

Weird that snakes follow the guy. Can't say I know what kind of snake that is though. I live by the beach so I don't see too many either. Hopefully it's not poisonous.

My summer has been good! Alina came to visit and we went to a water party and a theme park and explored some underground smuggler tunnels in the old Rye towns where I live. I know she yelled at you that time, but I promise she's actually really nice once you get to know her. She wants to be a healer when she grows up. I guess it's kind of the same thing as what you said.

Try not to get bit by any snakes or fall out of any windows. You'll have to tell me about how you guys snuck out sometime.

- Cliff

Dear Alec,
Well, we’ll be second years soon enough. It’s not too complicated, from what I’ve read. The hard part will be saying it quietly enough so nobody will notice.
Snakes? Mate, I’ve got to say I’m jealous. You’re a Gryffindor, and yet you’re the one who gets snakes. Actually, you’re pretty lucky your house mascot wasn’t following you. What do you think muggles would think if they saw a boy with a lion chasing him running down the pavement? Scary, that thought is.
Hopefully you didn’t get bitten, by either the lion, snake, or your sister. Trust me, I know how annoying they can be. Never had a tea party with mine, though. They were too busy breaking all of the teapots and cups. Can’t believe you snuck out to a treehouse. Seems Clifton and I have been rotten influences on you.
Don’t keep me waiting! The only creativity I have is during tests and talking back to teachers, and those usually lose me points. And, before I forget, I’m heading to Dublin for August, so my letter might take a little more times.

Sincerely, Leonard
Dear Clifton,
Well, I can’t say. I’m pretty sure my neighbour Ollie did the same thing, except with ballet. When he was asked to do the splits, he asked to go to the bathroom and ended up in the bathroom of his own home. Don’t know if he’s lying, though. He’s only eight. Maybe he’s a wizard as well? It would be right great if he was. Then you two could bond over your horrible camp experiences.
Is it possible to send applause through a letter? Because you are smooth, Clifton. I’ve been meaning to ask, actually, who is your girlfriend? I’ll need to make sure you don’t end up giving our SOATOP secrets to her.
She makes pizza sometimes, and by ‘sometimes’ I mean she looks for healthy alternatives. She’s quite the odd baker. Good thing for me, my dad knows how to make pizza in under twenty minutes. Us Oaksworth boys have our own secrets. Sorry to hear about your mum’s baking. Need me to send some care packages, to save you?
I’m going to Dublin in August with my dad, some sort of business trip, you could call it. Do you know anything about the place? Any Irish friends?

Hey Alec,

It's been a minute. Just sending you a letter to make sure you haven't been eaten by snakes. Though, I guess if you had, a letter wouldn't be much help.

I'm also a little bored. Now it's my turn to visit Alina's place but that's still a whole week away and I've already done an inordinate amount of (insert list of immense muggle time wasters I don't feel like explaining.) You should come visit sometime. Then I could show you what YouTube and videogames are.

I really miss Hogwarts. Can't wait to hear more about your summer and get back on track with the pranks.

Hope things are going well,

- Cliff

Hey Leo,

Guess I never did tell you her name. Alina Rosier. She's really cool, but don't worry I won't go blabbing. SOATOP wouldn't be as fun if it wasn't secret.

Ha, thanks for the round of applause. Sometimes I like to think I'm smooth, and then I remember that I met her while jumping off tables and falling over chairs trying to catch pixies with a pillowcase. And that I asked her to the Blossom Ball thing not even two hours before it started. And that I told her it at least sounded more fun than my Herbology homework.

I'd be willing to bet she's the smooth one.

I do know some stuff about Dublin, but nothing helpful. My dad's a historian, so I know all about the Celts and Saint Patrick's Cathedral and Nelson's Pillar. I know a few kids from football camp, though if you want someone to show you around. What does your dad do for work?

Dear Clifton

Eaten by snakes? Don't think there was enough around to do that.
Although it would've made for a great story, even if I wasn't the one telling it.
How snakes could eat a person whole is beyond me, so I'd like to know how a snake would try.
Doesn't it take days for certain snakes to even finish the food they ate?
To be truthful, I don't know much about animals.
We should do some research into it when we get back.

Also, whether or not this is to your surprise, I know what video games are.
I don't remember if I've told you, but my parents oddly decided to live in a muggle neighborhood.
My mom has quite a bit of muggle friends, actually.
I'm usually not allowed to hang out with any of the muggle kids in my neighborhood, unfortunately.
I've never actually played a video game before.

Youtube? Now that one is something you'll have to explain. Why would anyone name this thing, that? It's preposterous.

Either way, I don't think my parents would ever let me.
They'd deem you as a bad influence. If anything, I'm probably the bad influence when it comes down to it.

But I do have some free time soon if you wanna hang out. Me and Wyatt are going over to Diagon Alley sometime soon. Maybe we could meet up for some ice cream?

I hope your not bored out of your mind by the time you get this letter, Alec J. Mason.

Dear Leo

You know, I'd like to see what happens if a lion started chasing me.
I'd probably have done something to annoy it one way or another.
At least I then I'd be able to say I have a 'certain fondness for lions'
nudge the lion, then point to the gryffindor crest.

Maybe next time I should send some snakes your way, not actual ones, sadly probably wouldn't be able to catch it. But those gummy snake muggle candy things, I've had them before, and I'd be able to find them easily enough, the hard part is making sure they don't get eaten on the way over.

Leo, for the sake of everyone apart of SOATOP I'm sure I've been more of the bad influence, I got into an actual fight during the school year last year. I don't know if I've actually ever told you about it. Clifton ran into me upon the aftermath of the fight, so I know he already knows.

Have fun in Dublin, Alec J. Mason

Dear, PV Closed
Dear Alec,

Your strategy for dealing with a lion encounter is interesting, to say the least. I'm not a zoologist, but I'm pretty sure a lion wouldn't stop attacking you just because you had a little painting of them on your shirt. I mean, you probably wouldn't have to worry anyways. I've never seen a lion near my place in England, or anywhere other than a safari on the television, really. I also read somewhere they sleep for twenty-three hours a day, so it's only that one hour you'll have to worry about.
Well, if there were to be an actual snake chasing me, I'd probably run back to my house quick as I could. Wouldn't know where it would come from, though. Dublin isn't quite known for its serpent population. And, you really don't have to send any gummies. If my dad's done anything on his supposed business trip, it's eat everything remotely sweet possible in Ireland.
Earlier this week I met some people from Hogwarts at this bookshop, really nice place. Didn't much like one of them, but the rest were nice enough. You know someone named Zykeal Lane? He's a Gryffindor as well, and he was the one who made the whole thing. He's got a great sense of humour and I think he's in our year, so if we were to make a potential list of SOATOP candidates I'd say he's somewhere on there. Speaking of, we've got to strike again soon. If we're going to get more members, we'll be needing a popularity boost.
I've never heard of you getting in a fight, though that's to be expected. Can't tell whether people are gossiping for boredom or telling the truth in this place, not at all. There was a rumour at my old school about a ghost, and now I'm in a school with multiple ghosts. Anyways, there's nothing to worry about. I'm sure that person did something right awful to make you get in a fight. I've never been in a physical fight, not yet, anyways. Any tips?
(That was a joke, for all purposes. My limbs are sticks, and won't last a second against even the tiniest of toddlers. Hope you're well.)

Sincerely,
Leonard
Dear Clifton,
I've never heard of anyone by the name of Alina before. What house is she in? Might recognise her from that instead. And, yeah, the secret's fun, but hard to keep. I've told my dad just a tiny bit about it, just the fact that if he receives an owl from the school about behaviour problems he shouldn't be surprised. Pretty sure he doesn't believe me, though. Which is fair. The only behaviour problems he's ever been called about were some incidents at the pool during swimming lessons, and that's a story for another time. Preferably never, but since I don't like ink all over my paper while trying to cross something out, I'll tell you when the time comes. Still never, if I can help it.
I'm not going to lie here, your way of asking a girl out is astonishingly bad, but I can't judge. I'd bet that you're both much smoother than me, though. Not that I'm looking for a date. But by the time I'm well out of school I'll probably still need to call my parents on how to ask the waiter for a refill of water, so, yeah. Not smooth at all, I am.
Thanks for the knowledge anyway, about Dublin. It's not a tour, really, but there's loads of cool sights around. I actually saw Nelson's Pillar yesterday, on a walk. And I appreciate the help for football camp, but no number of friends is going to change the fact I'll end up kicking the ball in the wrong goalpost.
My dad's a baker as well, actually. They run a little bakery near my gran's old house. Business is a bit slow these days, with the pandemic and all that, but it's fine. And, are you muggleborn? Just a question, since your parents have pretty normal jobs. Not that mine don't, and I'm a halfblood. Can't determine just from name, as well. I mean, Troublefield? Never heard that one before. Then again, Oaksworth is pretty uncommon as well. Once, a postman thought they'd written the wrong name, with how strange it was. Anyways, how about you tell me more about the trip to the theme park? Would love to hear about your romantic ventures, Mr. More Fun Than Homework.

Sincerely,
Leonard
